Mr Fill I’m so pleased on your great information on the fix. I have been struggling for two years bending down to remove the plug for spark plug. I did what you said and now she is fixed. Five Stars young man. I’m turning 65 in 3 weeks this sure is a birthday present thank you. If you know about old toro snowblowers I will be checking back. Thanks again Houli.
Thanks so much for your video! That pulling out spark plug boot trick saved me! The mower was running into the night and I was worried neighbours would come and kill me...
I have a newer Pulsar lawn mower I got from Menards. It was mid-priced and I needed it quickly. It ran pretty good the first couple of times. Then it wouldn't turn off... I saw your video & took the shroud off. The cable switch was very similar. But it was obvious they never could connect. I was kind of perplexed at that point. Then I noticed there was a small electrical wire with an insulated connector. It seemed to be detached from somewhere. I looked around & saw the it was supposed to be connected to The part that was hooked up to the spring mechanism. I thought well, I'll reattach it & see what happens if I tried to start the lawn mower & let go of the bar. Luckily it did work, It stopped right away. I'm super happy that it works again. Thank you for explaining how to take the shroud apart. The only difficult part was trying to find the 10 mm socket for it

Thanks for your video. I bought a mower for about 15 dollars and it won't stop. I wondered about the brake. I noticed a piece loose near the brake and I now know it's that tab u bent down. I'll see if I can remount it and hopefully it holds and I'll make sure it touches and test it. Thanks for the video. Appreciate it
Thanks I have this problem and I was able to use a flat screwdriver and pry/rotate the contact to close the gap enough without removing the cover on my craftsman Briggs n Stratton mower. I learned about magnetos in school years ago. The old machines had a contact which could be pressed down onto the top of the spark plug and ground the magneto. Same thing.
Thanks very much. This pointed me in the right direction. I found some debris preventing contact. I can handle a fix that only requires removing 2 screws!
A blessing that you teach us how to fix a mower that won't shut off .. but even if it's an older mower does this method still work ? Will it be in the same place as a older mower .
Thank you sir I have looked and che ked everything I could think of I should have known it was grounding out I checked the brilliant wire again than you sir 😀!
Hey! I have a JD JA60. Not shutting off but i verified the stop switch is making contact (it presses it up slightly as it slides into place and even when i press it down with a flathead) What would be the next step? Can you do a video on the brake/flywheel? Subscribed btw!
I had that problem with the same style Quantum engine but it was a manufacturing/assembly defect. It would eventually stop with just the brake until I bent the bottom contact upward.
I completely stripped my mower a few weeks ago to give it a good clean and to paint the deck, etc, but when I put it back together it has this problem where it won't turn off. But I can hear a little switch clicking when I release the handle, and the cable has a little slack when released. It's a bit strange. I can get it to turn off if I push the lever that the cable is attached to, so it might just be that there's a bit of crap stuck in there or something. Or maybe the kill switch is clicking but not activating. Looks like I'll have to go at it again and see if I messed up somewhere.
Yes, I learned that yesterday. Wasn't sure if that was normal or just another sign that something is out of whack. I hope no one in the neighborhood saw me jump when that shock surprised me, lol.
Can you help me? We had the same problem pulled off the cap to the spark plug but now when we go to start it up again it won't start. Disengage the off button and still not start put a new spark plug and still will will not start
Hey Fill I’m having this exact issue on a Craftsman mower. Hit a big rock and it wouldn’t shut off after that. The impact did something to it. I’ll go check to see if your video’s instructions solve the problem. What should I look for next if that doesn’t do the trick?
Sir....I have been fighting this issue on a 22 inch toro awd mower. It's 4am....im sitting on the throne...if this fixes my issue, I'll need your cashapp to buy you a cold drink
Thank you Fill! My mower was having this problem and you're the only video I found for what I needed. Liked and subscribed.
Thanks Scotty! I appreciate the comment, like, and sub. Have a great day 👍🏻 I'm glad this video was a help!

Very smart lawnmower tech!

Hi Fill. Very useful video. It was quite shocking to experience my lawn mower won’t shut off. I will make the adjustments and see how it goes.

I will try that, sounds simple enough thank you
Will check that! I have a sense that my cable is not sliding in the sheath, though.
Good video Fill

THANKS!
You're welcome thanks for watching 👍🏻
Note: Its a shocking experience if you pull the spark plug off by hand 😅
Man I found that out the hard way 😂
@alilolder the last time I use a push mower that someone rigged together to work. 🤣 2024 we've upgraded to a riding mower!
@@amesr19 ohhh yea told the hubby that's it the frankenmower has gotta go🤣
Yes, I learned that yesterday. Wasn't sure if that was normal or just another sign that something is out of whack. I hope no one in the neighborhood saw me jump when that shock surprised me, lol.
it felt good. lol jk

Check to make sure your mower grounds out with like a wire or something that makes contact when you release your handle to turn off machine
@@fillslawncare Would you mind going into more detail here? Thank you 🙏
Why do New Zealand mowers not have the safety cut off, anyone know?
What if it doesn't normally stop when you release the handle, instead using e.g. an off switch or throttle lever?
Is that the same with electric mower
No. You probably have a clogged carburetor
You need to bend the actual bracket down that holds the switch
Got a shock, but it worked.
I dont think there is even a brake contacting the flywheel anymore. It should of come to a complete stop quicker than that.
Yeah possibly brake worn out
Looks like they ran the mower into something as the front of the break was bent out of shape.
Yeah I think so too, pointed it out during the video 👍🏼

@@fillslawncare it did not
I have to reach under the cover and force the brake against the flywheel to get it to stop ...or pull the plugwire
Engine shroud
Pull the spark plug…heard
Now mine won't start

Just drain the oil and wait a few minutes... she'll shut off!😆
You should make a video showing us this amazing trick 🤣
@@fillslawncare i have one. I drained the oil and filled it with sand. Little tecumseh took it like a champ and ran for like 10 minutes!
I'll check it out tonight
