This is the mode that will seriously grow this game. 1. Co-cast with Dave. 2. Storm needs some kind of marker/graphic. 3. No king of the hill, this setup is perfect. This solves all of the problems with AOE2 games from an E-sport/casting perspective, in that it eliminates camping/trade forever turtles, and games will inherently have a hard limit on how long they can go. You'll be able to schedule these games much more accurately.
On a side note, you have always had a general problem with your volume level, it's well below -10db (which is where you want it to really sit). Look into a limiter for post production, or even for live cast, I can tell you how to set one up if you like.
I feel like the storm not having a graphic is a real barrier. I'm a regular viewer and fortnite player and I can't be bothered with these vids tbh
Fuck this mode, is bullshit memeish crap. Also none of the things you mentioned are a problem in competitive aoe
2 years later, this game mode wasn't really relevant
I like that the teutonic knights play a role in this match.
Teutonic Knights are actually fairly good for win conditions that involve contested areas like this, or King of the Hill. Then their movement speed isn't quite so much of a drawback because your opponents are forced to fight your army when you have to scrounge towards the middle, they were chewing up the cavalry in the engagements and lasting a long while without an economy to keep spamming them.
the zombie teutonic knights chasing everyone was hilarious
It's so satisfying seeing the minimap as the storm advances because the colors of the players form a perfect square on the minimap. My ocd can't thank enough for this gamemode.
Just like video #2, I will give the storm kill count for those wondering: 411.
For me the star of the video are the teutonic penguins :) Also, I wonder if the expert players play this map, they might kill themselves even before the storm.
I love how I don't even know how they managed to make the "storm." Got some cool modders on such an old game.

It's probably the same trigger effect that was used in the Conquerors' campaign Vindlandsaga with the sea of worms that instakill your units.
not that hard to do with the trigger system. there needs to be a visual identifier to this though. Spawning and killing hawks and petards creates explosive effects. Setting a trigger to loop like that makes it occur infinitely.

Another winning move by purple is to produce 1 more vil and garrison in TC with the king. TC doesn't need murder holes to attack.

I really wish the storm wouldn't have stopped, it should keep going until its about 10 tiles in the middle left.
For what it's worth, I think this idea is fantastic and I can't wait to see meta strategies being developed for it and the mechanic itself polished (such as visual effect, damage balancing etc)

I like the gamemode but i doubt that fortnite players will be drawn in because RTS is quite different to shooters and battle royale. Aoe2 is much more of a strategic game. Like the gamemode but hopefully T90 can maintain the good mixture of maps he always uses

When you have to micro the oncoming storm, enemy players from each side, getting tower rushed, trying to boom up, trying to defend and make military it's difficult to keep up with your king
Trirem should've won - Purple and Yellow only got as far as they did because he made the fatal mistake of underestimating his ETK.
lol that shoutout to Spirit of the Law at the end. I would be pretty amused if SotL actually did a vid on this ending.
Alternating bands of grass and dirt could be used to demark where the storm is and how far it will jump if giving it an actual graphical effect isn't possible. I think that slowly spreading snow or ice would be a cool representation of the "storm" if something like that can be coded in. I also think the storm shouldn't suck units in and the damage should be more gradual to enable high risk plays (gathering resources, but weakening vills; flanks through the storm).

hello TheNakedAsian here :D. man it is 2 and a half years ago :O this was my first and only community game, havent been able to watch on community days offen. i have gotten alot better at the game since that time. and wow i was bad then o.0 i'm still thinking about this game time to time and what would have happen if i just had attackt the castle? hope i can join a community game again soon ;)

T-90 if you get open back headphones you will be able to hear yourself talk. Massdrop sennheiser HD6xx or sennheiser 598SE are two options
you could add outpost to each player at the edge of the map and another closer to each player. like that its easier to follow the storm

If purple created vils to garrison in the TC, TC fire would cover the base of the second castle. There would be only one side of the castle exposed but if hussar attacks that, vils could farm freely and eventually produce more units. Purple would win this game because he can safely collect resources.
Green was MvP of that game, especialy with that king micro and ppl running meele units and weakest ranged units to teutonic knights..., like, that would be better to just make an onager or a bunch of simple archers than waste so much resources on paladins, sad he lost, he could try and kill 1 house to move the treb into the range of purples trebs and fight them. Poor orange, weak players being ganged upon. Also yellow, why, why ever belived another player in a diplo game, should have scouted if castle have murder holes, theoreticaly vill could be used to kill the hussar slowly by poping it out and in and chipping at them but purple might have not thought about that and would keep farming. Actualy, purple could farm long enough to build a tower next to a castle/TC and they would protect eachother from hussars.
Green was waiting for the timing of the storm. It like ticks every couple of seconds to deal damage. You can see him ungarrison the moment after the castle gets hit from the storm.
You NEED to combine this with the hunger games mod!

this mode is awesome, but the storm kills units and building very slow which is not that scary L.E saw that the damage increases, so that is super cool
Maybe the mapmaker should make the storm damage trees to, then you can see where the storm is
You should consider doing this with lower population caps so it gets less clunky!

I loved the Tuetonic knights.
Trirem's king did not die to the storm, it died to Naked's light cav.
- The map could be blocked by rocks
- The world border could close in by 1 tile every minute, starting from minute 15
- No monument is how it should be. Not sure about regicide
- The world border could be always visible

I kinda like the battle royal idea. It encourages more fighting over the middle instead of players just claiming a corner of the map and camping there. Wish there were a better way to tell where the edges of the storm were though.
sick game :) awesome maps :) Please t90, make a tournament with these settings happen :) maybe similiar to your ctr events. That would be soooo awesome to see players like ACCM, Hearttt, Tatoh and so on fighting for the middle
His play is to farm until he can garrison some villagers in the TC. After his TC is secure, he can keep farming and sell food to buy some units.
Trirem (green) clearly played the best and was best at dealing with the storm, only he had a position on the map that was a bit off. As soon as purple had to deal with the storm he had no eco and couldn't even make a villager.
Seeing so many comments about who is winning, I wanna explain the perfect solution for yellow. HE should have scouted his opponent and IF purple did not have Murder Holes, yellow could have attacked the castle near the tc also killed the vill with his spears or atleast keep it in the tc. Then destroying the TC and the Final castle.
Great game though.
Yellow could not kill second castle. Purple could make a second vil and garrison TC. Purple could then put king in TC which is protected by castle and castle is protected by TC.
And again we see when one shithead spoils the game by messaging the player, so the mindgame changed DRASTICALLY. This story has so much potential to go super interesting!
Lesson of the day? ALWAYS GET MURDERHOLES

instead of using storm, why not used flood like all the blue zone will become a water tile then when ship sail on it, it will slowly sunk something like that

anyone have any idea how to make the storm visible? The best alternative would be a FOW but maybe not possible, but at least some markers on the map would be helpful.
Awesome game mod btw. Tetonic Knights actually being used to effect was a first for me. Them and Viking Longships are like, the coolest most useless units.
can we have stormy dogs flying around in stormy area. it would show approximately the coverage of the storm while still leave room for silly mistakes for your stream
is there any like 256x mod that works for all the campaigns? I'd like to try them with these mods?
If Olacy made a couple vills from that farmer he could have garrisoned the TC and NakedAsian couldn't have taken down the second castle.
Just a question, why can green still fight, after its king died? Its been a looooooooooooooooooooong time since i played AoE2 :p
