The creativity in the composition of the dialogue is wonderful. The actors all perform as if their roles were written for them. I particularly love the episode where George and Murdoch travel to Newfoundland, where George's many florally named "aunts" all swoon over Murdoch. The scene where George wakes up cradling a large cod fish is also adorable.

@@45corleone21 Understood. I'm in the USA and for awhile there were Murdoch Mysteries marathons at the weekends on one of the over-the-air Boston TV channels. Now that channel is just another one dedicated to "Court TV". Ugh. I could easily watch old Murdoch reruns several times each because there's so much detail and nuance in every production. Really miss the series terribly these days. So much REAL modern trouble here in the states. It's a relief to escape, vicariously, now and then. I credit finding the series during the early days of Covid with helping to mitigate my own personal isolation as a result of Covid. The only airings of MM now are at 2 or 3 AM on a far away station that rarely comes in via antenna. I so wish my grandfather had never left his native Nova Scotia and moved South to Boston! My heart is quite Canadian even if my feet are in Rhode Island. Cheers & Peace.

Feels awkward all the way around...kill him off ..it's embarrassing...the only completely unbelievable character in the whole show...it's a good show...STOP MESSING WITH IT....what's next... a talking dog???

I realize this was posted a year ago, but I had to reply.
One, it is Murdoch, not "Murdock". You supposedly care so much about just keeping the original Detective and you don't even spell his name right! The person you are calling "Columbo character" is Detective Llewellyn Watts. It is disrespectful to the characters, actors, writers, etc.
Two, Llewellyn was brought in to work on a case that William couldn't work on, it made total sense! Llewellyn has helped the other characters several times where if it wasn't for him, they might not have made it, or definitely would not have, Up From Ashes and Murdoch Escape Room are 2 great examples of this.
Three, Llewellyn didn't "turn gay". There are only 2 episodes where he even is attracted to a woman and it is clearly just a crush way and not very strong. He obviously was not fully realizing how he felt and who he really is until it was presented more clearly. He has stronger feelings by the end of Philately Fatality than he ever did in those 2 previous episodes. After he realized he feels more strongly for men, he couldn't go back to just that crush type way with woman, it wouldn't make sense, and by the way, I can say personally that is something that absolutely can and does happen. As for the writing, it wasn't because Llewellyn's character wasn't working, it was to just add something different that actually, again, makes sense.
Four, Llewellyn's mannerisms are in some ways like other well known Detectives, but he has his own ways as well. He is very likely autistic and dyspraxic. I am and I have a very similar way and relate to Llewellyn very much. He is absolutely believable if you meet someone like me! Even not counting the exaggerated way he can be, watch Brother's Keeper, The Ministry of Virtue, The .38 Murdoch Special, The Things We Do For Love (parts 1 and 2), etc. Many episodes that show Llewellyn is not always acting in awkward or "unbelievable" way.
Five, the worst thing - not just saying you don't like the character, or even don't want him on the show, but to "kill him off". If you don't like the character, you don't have to watch the show, or don't have to pay attention to him (could skip episodes he is in.) Many people love Llewellyn, obviously myself included, and he is a good character! To want a good character to be gone, and in that way, I would never think that, even if I didn't like a character, I would just focus on the characters I do like, but in this case, again, I obviously love Llewellyn! You also act like he just came on the show. As of the time when the video was made, Llewellyn had been on for 5 seasons (now he has been on for 7!) I watched Murdoch Mysteries before, but I didn't like it nearly as much before Llewellyn came on!
Finally, they wouldn't have a talking dog because that wouldn't fit with the MM reality. They have the Halloween episodes that are just fun for the holiday, but not more obvious fantasy/cartoonish stuff. Regardless of Llewellyn's eccentricities, he is a human, the reality he is in is similar to ours, so it makes sense he talks, however it would not make sense for a dog to talk, just as it would not make sense here.

Like every other show the show was great the first 7 years. And then it turned into a Woke Movement kind of show. Let’s force lesbianism back then and out in the open no less. And let’s put blacks in roles they could of never been. But that is the Woke Movement BS. Let’s be original for the times. I don’t mind if it was now or twenty years ago but we talking about the year 1900. Just ridiculous BS.
