I’m not going to lie. When I heard musical, I groaned. When I watched the episode, I loved it! I watched it twice. I thought the musical concept was very creative, I like the science behind the coma, there was an actual story behind the episode and that Murdoch is not only going off memory and instinct, but interpreting what his colleagues would say. 10/10!
I too was a lil skeptical and (personally) don't usually like musicals, but this episode was genuinely a pleasant surprise. Ended up re-watching the musical bits multiple times already! I could tell you guys had fun with this one.😁
I came looking for a "making of..." as soon as I finished watching the episode. This video did not disappoint. A very clever concept to explain why everyone is singing!
Jonny Harris is right. This is an episode worth watching again and again. They looked like they must have done a lot of giggling in between the serious work.
This musical was a terrific surprise! It was wonderful that Yannick guided us through all the rehearsals, songs, dances, explanations, personal feelings about the entire experience. The Deckelman folks from Rockville Maryland love it. Thanks a million! March 25, 2024. Sue
I love Murdock Mysteries but I don’t like musical theatre. I didn’t realize it was a musical episode until I started watching it. My finger was on the close button for a few minutes, but I ended up watching the whole thing and loved it ❤ like Yannick once I saw the reason for the singing I was all in. Well done! Bravo!
❤❤❤❤❤ 5 hearts! I love it! The songs were catchy. It was fun watching them sing and dance! I can't get the songs out of my head! I love every song! I've seen this episode 5 times already and listened to it 8 times. I play in the background while I do my chores. AWESOME!
Loved this episode, as I love all episodes. I was hesitant to watch this episode, but it fit so well with the whole series. Genius. Such a charming show. As an American, I appreciate learning more about Canadian history, even if it's not all real. Looking forward to visiting Canada coming spring.
I absolutely loved this episode!! It was so different from anything else they have ever done and hats off to all of the cast and directors. Bravo!! :o)
Jonny is right. I will rewatch it. It was so different and fun. 😊 i do like musicals, but was so confused at 1st, then once Murdoch realized he was in a coma, i could sit back and enjoy.
Been watching Murdoch Mysteries since the very first episode and I’ve loved them all! That being said, I didn’t enjoy this episode as much as others in these comments did. The actors did a good job singing, don’t get me wrong, but not my cup of tea. Please continue with Murdoch Mysteries for many seasons to come!!
This was interesting. I’m not a fan of musicals despite loving music and movies/shows. I just don’t like to mix them. So this wasn’t my favorite episode but it was watchable. Biggest issue was that you could tell that most of the main cast didn’t have a lot of background in dancing and singing but they did their best and that’s all you can really ask. I think they did fine and it was an entertaining enough episode to watch once. Though I don’t think I’ll be ever rewatching this particular episode.
What an amazing & surprising episode! You are a great and talented cast. The creativity on all the episodes have kept me engaged from the 1st episode to the current! I think this operetta could go to Broadway. Please keep going.
Love this episode as well! I heard the interviews on the soundtrack and wondered what they were from. I found channels that have content related to MM, such as Shaftesbury, and U.S. channels Acorn and Ovation, but wasn't thinking one for place where first shows, and didn't see this earlier. Anyway, thank you, and thank you to everyone who works on this show! ❤
Highlights Canada's incredibly talented creators and actors, great fun.I guess we can kiss this show goodbye if "Peter Politics" gets in office - gotta' watch '22 Minutes to understand that nickname - another excellent Canadian production we won't get to see anymore
I missed this on Bell Fibe TV and tried to hear it on You Tube but the volume was terrible so would like to have You Tube fix the sound so can hear the whole episode! Love this show from beginning!
I admit, I rolled my eyes when I saw "musical" in the episode synopsis. Seriously? A musical? I almost skipped the episode. But after I thought about it, I figured why not watch it? Murdoch Mysteries has never had airs, never takes itself overly seriously, and some of the best episodes are the madcap episodes with James Pendrick and Terrence Meyers. So why not a musical? I'm so glad I watched it!! You can tell the cast had fun making the episode. I've watched Brackenreid's "Bloody Hell" multiple times. Reminds me of Charles Durning in Best LIttle Whorehouse in Texas. Craig and Durning almost steal the whole show.
Must say this episode was brilliantly done a musical clue to solving who did it and who shot him in the head a little like Twin Peaks in some aspects. Lots of dancing and the colours were amazing like it was done in old-style film and the episode ended with an unmasking of the lone gunman a big reveal but a question remains is this the end of bizarre themes that show how talented the cast are. A second song should have a similar take in further episodes. Love to see if there's any outtakes available from this episode or others a special series featuring them please..
In my opinion, season 16 was much more interesting, than season 17 . Unfortunately, in the 17 season, the character of Daniel Maslany was not used much
I agree. Of course 15 most Llewellyn been in for number of episodes. I don't like that he wasn't in finale for 17 (first time since started on show.) Some things I like about 17 are this episode, with hearing Llewellyn singing, and the two episodes he is in the most, Murdoch and The Treasure of Lima, and Engaged to be Murdered. Those are really great, but I want him to be in episodes more, and be in more episodes.
In Canada it's available (steams) on the CBC Gem app. Not sure how to get around those "not made available in your country" messages that might appear.
For some reason, as a super Murdoch Mysteries fan, I did not like this episode. They did an episode like this with the New Start Trek series where I am also a HUGE fan, and I didn't like that either. Sorry, I just couldn't wrap my head around it.
I love this show been watching since the beginning but I am not a fan of musical episodes . They are so out of place and don’t add anything. Find it very distracting. I do applaud their talent and for trying something different though . Hopefully no more of these lol 😎😎😎
I felt like Murdoch not really keen to see them in a musical show. It was good, not great! and not my cup of tea. I appreciate when they incorporate important people of the past, that represent the history of Canada. Please, don't try as it is not working for the palate of the audience. Accept this comment in a honest critic and....listen!
I just watched season 17 e. 24 - What a crock! This episode is laughable and outrageous. (The violin the background made it all the more campy!) Many of the seasons of this show have been wonderful but seasons 15, 16 and 17 - have gone downhill. I haven't heard - if this is the last season . . . I hope so. I loved this show when it was about procedural mysteries and not a constant delve into the lives of the characters who start singing and dialoged is forced but agendas that were not prevalent during the very early 20th century. Show is now contrived and no longer entertaining.
Not liking an episode is one thing. Not everyone can vibe with a musical and not every episode will vibe with every fan. But hoping a series comes to an end because you don't like it anymore is bizarre. Not only do millions of other fans still enjoy it with new fans jumping on board all the time but you're talking about hoping they remove the livelihood of 100s of people who work for this show. The show is still just as great as it always was. Even the musical was grounded in that the musical aspects were due to Murdoch's brain injury and his coma i.e they weren't really signing and dancing it was just how his mind was interpreting things due to his injuries. They also tried to keep things within 1910-1913 like typical episodes. The songs were beautifully written and it was just all around fantastic. Plus the musical was one episode. It's not like they've had the characters breaking into song and dance randomly throughout an entire season. Again, I get musicals aren't for everyone. There will be times shows do episodes that some fans want (and even the cast and crew want) that just won't vibe with everyone else and that is ok as we don't all like the same things. Just stay tuned for the next episodes as they might be just what you were looking for :). As someone borderlining on medical PTSD I didn't care for the bits with Dr. Ogden working at the hospital but I lover her character and had I stopped watching I would have missed a lot of really great stuff I did like :).
Worst episode ever. Just couldn’t believe it. Like other shows, going downhill. Always been my fav program, but this was just stupid. Leave musicals to the professionals, and get back to the good detective work.
I’m not going to lie. When I heard musical, I groaned. When I watched the episode, I loved it! I watched it twice.

Watched this episode twice and look forward to seeing it again! Great job everyone involved!
creative in what sense it's something like the 47th show to do down to Buffy and Supernatural
This episode deserves a prize!
Usually musicals in TV series don't do well. This is an absolutely awesome exception!!!
So much talent!!
Strange New Worlds musical episode was brilliant and also showed so much unexpected musical talent
Buffy the Vampire Slayer musical episode was so good they put the soundtrack on cd. The first musical episode in Xena was fantastic too.
@@abigailrobertson9046 I was just going to mention Buffy! I loved that episode!
an award winning episode!!! I loved it and will have to watch it again and again!!! thanks MM for being the best show on TV 😍
FANTABULOUS EPISODE!!!! Congrats to all!
That was Epic! I loved it! I'm going to watch it again and again!
Encore!!!! 👏🏻

Very well done. I love Murdoch Mysteries 🥰
LOVE..LOVE…LOVE this episode🎉🎉🎉
I love how this episode reveals Murdoch is so smart that his subconscious can solve a mystery while he's in a coma. XD
Very proud of the hard work you put into this! It was very well done. Just hearing all of my favorite characters singing was amazing! Thank you!
Thought I wouldn't like it. It was brilliant
Thoroughly enjoyed every second!
❤❤I Love Love Loved !!!!! This episode was epic. Kudos to everyone
I LOVED IT. The cast all have great voices and I’d like to see another Murdoch Musical.
I really enjoyed the musical!
Loved it. Some of the the transitions were epic.
To quote; 'Pure joy'! This truly is a
stellar of Stars!! Thank you so, so much 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 ~ CBC 🇨🇦
I raised an eyebrow when I saw the ad, but they actually pulled it off really well. Even the rework of the opening theme music is fabulous.
I loved it!!!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
What a great show! Such a talented cast!
It was brillant. Loved it.
absolutely fabulous

Bahahahahaha Yannick you were against it!!! It was brilliant, well executed, intriguing storyline and so entertaining! ❤
Best episode
I haven’t got to this episode yet as I’m currently watching season 11, but I love a musical so am looking forward to it.
Loved it❤
So looking forward to seeing this!❤❤❤
What a crazy episode, but such great fun! Congrats to all involved.

When is this episode on
Where can I watch this in Europe?
The cast members are very talented and they must have had fun doing this episode. But please don't do this again.
Why? I think it was amazing. Just like the Halloween and Christmas specials, one musical episode every season could be a nice twist
@@timothyadriaens5311 You're entitled to your opinion. As am I.
Love the show. Please don't do that musical stuff again😄
Dumbest show ever. Used to be a fan but this is the end. Didnt even watch 10 minutes. Show is slipping big time.
@@timothyadriaens5311 yes once a year please!!!! I loved it so much!
It was fun, even if it wasn't always to my taste. Thankfully, not all of it was singing. Hopefully we see murdoch mysteries go into/past ww1!!
Hello everyone! Somebody knows when will be started 18 season? 😊
Like oil and water- mystery and music. It was less of a mystery and more of an opera.
What's this? "Umbrellas of Toronto"? Was the score written by Michel Legrand or Robert Carli ????
In my opinion, season 16 was much more interesting, than season 17 . Unfortunately, in the 17 season, the character of Daniel Maslany was not used much

So not a Subspace Rhapsody or a Supernatural school play. But Yannick Beeson is on this show so I might watch it.
I love watching murdoch mysteries but I can't please help (In Turkey)
In Canada it's available (steams) on the CBC Gem app. Not sure how to get around those "not made available in your country" messages that might appear.
How do they use the METRIC system when it wasn,t implemented in Canada till 1970?😂
1971 metric implemented! 😮 what a great catch!😅

Dumbest episode ever. The content of the past 5 to 6 seasons has been slipping downhill. This one topped it.
The past 6 seasons have been my absolute favs and this one is the best of all! To each his own, i suppose.
The worst episode by far.

Most of the musicals are not my kind of stuff and this one neither. Can't watch it longer than two minutes. No matter others say the story is great.
