Incredible you crossed paths with someone that will help everyone reduce the high costs drastically. This was the most important cost to reduce. Great info.
Glad I found your channel. I’m still in the “imagining stage” of van life in my wheelchair, but your videos take some of my imagination and show me it can actually be made in the real world. Looking forward to going through all of your videos.
Welcome aboard! Vanlife with a wheelchair is totally possible - it just takes a bit more planning and consideration. I’m happy my videos can help put your mind at ease a bit.
Hi Lisa, thank you for once again for sharing such an impressive camper van build as someone with a disability with a above Knee amputation i’m always impressed with someone that sees outside the square and makes it so much easier for themselves and hopefully by sharing this modification with the simple motor lift it will help others that think they cannot afford to 15 or $20,000 special left like yourself anyway keep up the good work. Always enjoy your videos keep enjoying life to the max Cliff from Australia
Great video! Nice editing skills Lisa. I’m curious to see what others attempt to create from some of the ideas.Someone should definitely use the crane for a hoyer lift. Completely doable!
Thank you so much for sharing your lift idea and for your time! I am almost tempted to make a Hoyer lift for my amtb club to get the quads on the bowhead 🤔
There are also lifts on trolleys and tracks, made for material handling. Gotta be cheaper than the medical ones. This video really got me thinking about making things easier for my husband, shoulders shot from decades of wheeling.
AWESOME!! Congrats on your purchase and I hope you find a lift or solution that works for your needs. Let me know if you take some ideas from this video :)
I'm glad to have come across your channel. This vid is just what I needed to see. Not SCI here but neuromuscular issues. WCvehicle transfer devices are unreasonably expensive. This has given me some inspiration to look at alternatives i hadn't thought of yet. Also, I'm curious about that actuator that you use for your bed transfer. Perhaps, it's covered in another vid (haven't seen other vids, this is the first.) Have a blessed day...
My bed lift is in the video where I break down the cost, but it’s an actuator from Progressive Automations - FLT-11. Just like Alex’s lift, it’s way more cost effective to use off the shelf products than if that lift was built for adaptive needs. Cheers!
@@Keepinitwheel306 Thank you so much giving me that manufacturer's name. Browsing their website and found a few potentials for my needs spending a fraction of the cost otherwise. Very much appreciated 🙏
Need this in my life. Just bought a Transit. We were wondering how we were going to get the power chair in there. The regular lifts are expensive!! This looks like a pretty straightforward install. Did he have to reinforce the van floor? I wonder the durability with daily use also
do you know how he modified the crane to get the motor on the bottom side of the boom arm? The website shows the motor on the top side of boom where it would collide with roof/door
Can you get in contact with me please? I may be getting kicked out of my apartment. I have a beach house but it’s raised 15 feet in the air. So I may need to live in a van but I’d rather live at the beach with the crain lift idea
👍Awesome information 👍👍👍 I'm sorry to hear your lift was so insanely expensive. Do you also explore in Canada 🇨🇦 while you are here? Ever get to Calgary area? I'd love to see your van in person some day.... 😉
You're both awesome. I like your lift Alex and your bed lift Lisa. I'm almost 80 and I am chicken to try anything now. I use a walker.

I was certain the universe was working with me on that day! The world needs to see what Alex came up with 👍
I was certain as well. As I'm certain you mean a lot to this community. That has to be the best info for the wheelies out there.

I’ve actually got 3 of these around my house. One for the pool. One for the lake dock and one to go down a steep grade. Nice stuff here
Wow! His ingenuity for the creation of his lift is amazing.
@@Lifepashion so remarkable! And I hope it helps others who take from his design.
OMG this is what we were going to do, until we stumbled across a used Superarm. Fantastic!! Your channel is invaluable please keep it up! Thank you.
No way! It’s such a great idea to use standard equipment. Way to go on finding a used Superarm too!
@pmcallister where did you find your used superarm?
Yes!
Cool video. Thanks for sharing! Awesome you guys are sharing. Looking for more info as you post!
Excellent cost saving van ideas that Alex did. Thank you for the video. Blessings to you.
Glad it was helpful!
Very creative how he built the crane lift.

Badass! Im sharing this all over the place!
Isn’t it?? So simple and effective. I love seeing what people come up with.
This could also be a solution for someone who needs a Hoyer lift to do transfers inside.
I thought the same thing. You can even get portable cranes on wheels.

I just bought a VW T3 campervan, and this is super helpful. I'm still trying to work out the best way to get my wheelchair in and out.

Aw thank you so much for commenting! I am glad I can share information here :)
Thats a cool lift. So cheap to make
Right?! It sure helps when you can use off-the-shelf materials

I don’t think he did anything to the floor, but you can try reaching out to him for any questions. I’m glad you found the video helpful!
I used to work on cars back in the day and I didn't even think of that
I had no idea something like this could be purchased off the shelf. I’m so glad Alex came up with the idea and was willing to share.
💜🍀
That motor crane is a great idea!?
It's working well for him so far and saved a lot of money. I just knew I had to share.
do you know how he modified the crane to get the motor on the bottom side of the boom arm? The website shows the motor on the top side of boom where it would collide with roof/door
Hmm no I don’t think he had to modify his. Maybe it’s not the exact same model, there might be others that are similar. Sorry I’m not more help!
thanks, i will look

What other companies do conversions other than Mobility Works, Braummobility, VM or Freedom? These guys are robbers in my view
