Editing photographs is way easier than editiing multiple photgraphs (video) and syncing them up with music, ambiance, sfx, etc. Both were good, but they ain't noteworthy.
From what you're speaking of you're clearly not a photographer nor a videographer and taking vids and pics with your iPhone doesn't count. Both are difficult of their own.

If the stovetop was hot it most likely to be boiling or at least hot. If they planned to do it just for the video they probably would've turned off the stove altogether.
