AC1 all the way to Brotherhood were all masterworks. I may be skewered for saying it, but Black Flag was where the series flew off the rails. It was a pirate game first and foremost (a very good one mind you), and an AC game a distant second. Unity, post bug-fixes, is actually tied with Brotherhood for my favorite game in the series. Gameplay was refocused on stealth, writing was tight, and the Assassin/Templar/Isu triangle was both greatly utilized and adequately grey. Dead Kings in particular was a masterpiece. Syndicate was a disappointing follow-up, taking all the wrong lessons from Unity. Rather than maintaining the course correction and improving polish, Unity veered back off-course once again. In other words, the games used to mean something and now they don’t. Ezio and Altair “meeting” wasn’t a crossover just for the sake of it, it was the culmination and climax of both of their respective character arcs. It was relevant to the overall story that was being told and helped drive the narrative forward. Kassandra and Eivor meeting serves no other purpose than just being a “woah look at that” moment for “fan service,” if you can call it that. And keep in mind that neither Eivor or Kassandra is actually an Assassin.
Eivor is an Assassin but a very "weird one" where Kassandra is just a random person before the assassin's where created. You had you buy the DLC to get the full story so the events of the game is useless

I think a big part of why Ezio meeting Altaiir is that it's was the end of both of their stories. And especially for those of us who started out playing the first one, it really did feel like coming full circle. They really did nail that feeling. Revelations also gave Altaiir an actual middle eastern accent instead of making him sound like a white dude from California. That doesn't effect the crossover, it was just nice that they took the opportunity to fix that. I could see them not doing it "for consistency" but it was a fix that needed to be made.

Revelations: Built up for 4 years and ended with the best payoff imaginable for the series Valhalla: They were more interested in Origins than Valhalla when making Korfu since they have a cutscene showing Kass in Egypt at the end while they only have a trailer for Valhalla
What makes the Masyaf sequence at the beginning of Revelations so beautiful is we know Ezio is deep within Templar’s territory, there’s an army of Templars in the castle and the only living Assassin that have to face them all is him. Yet despite him being alone in this cold, dark and hostile ground, he was guided by Altair’s footsteps. In a way, you could say, Altair is the only one there with him when he’s so far from home, and so deep within enemy lines.
Then: An entire game revolving around Ezio in his older years growing tired and jaded of the Creed, thus seeking the wisdom of Altair, and through the memories of the man, embedded in pieces of ancient tech, relates to his life and experience and leaving a major impact for the rest of his life, even when Altair is long dead... I think the part of the design is actually clever af. We can't see their face but at the same time it limits their vision as well, so I always thought of it as symbolically, they're focused and only mostly follow orders due to their hood limiting their vision and make them look like they're looking down (obedient) instead of anything. Even if they raise their head, they are still looking down. Until Ezio's hood is pulled off. We can't see their face clearly and their vision is also limited, causing them to get lost, confused, and Doubtful.
The newer crossovers feel like current day marvel crossovers in the hopes that the audience will like the new character if a more recognizable character says they like them without actually earning it. Ezio meeting the remains of Altair brought a lot of closure for both Ezio and the player that wondered about what happened to Altair Revelations felt like a great send off for Ezio so the player could be satisfied tying loose ends and moving on to a new chapter, Hell when Ezio refused to be curious about the apple and then speaking to Desmond felt like it was just the devs breaking the fourth wall saying “this is the end, we had a great experience, but some things are better to let end it’s time to let these two rest”
Iron by Woodkid in that trailer as well gave such a unique blend to such a unique story, I go back to rewatch it for the vibes alone. Guess it's that time again....
I liked the ac revelations crossover with ezio following altaïr's spirit or shadowy figure on uncovering the truth that he was planning on knowing what life or role he has played as Desmonds ancestor
if you want only one of the playable characters from the previous game to be cannon, then just have one dang character. cause you if picked the dude version than this moment means very little. meanwhile in the old games we know who both these dudes are if you played the games. please Ubisoft stop making these games choose your own protag, branching path games, and just go back to the old character driven stories we used to love
And have the balls to stick with it, Evie from syndicate is probably one of my favorite assassin's her design and movement made her stand out to me, if you choose a female protagonist then just do it I'm tired of this being woke shit in video games who cares.
My brother played and started with AC 1 and I started with AC 2 went back and played one. All I can say is the games r amazing and forever a part of my childhood
The newer crossover felt more like a cover model collab than it did a plot important event. It's like the log line for the scene was "they spar convincingly" instead of "the previous hero has developments to share with the newer assassin."
Another problem with the Kassandra and Eivor fight other than it being entirely a cutscene, is that upon learning Eivor had a coincidentally super specifically similar blade to hers, Kassandra should've definitely white flagged and realized they're both allies from different times.
ac4 was such a great metaphor for these games, a Templar lead entertainment company dissecting what once was the heart of the series and scooping out and dulling down everything to market to the largest audience possible
Assassin's creed writing: "You see, he already has two weapons on his back, but we need to make him pick up an axe off the ground, because that's what Kassandra did"
The best thing about Revelations was not the crossover, but The fact that you play as Altair in a bunch of missions, showing new parts of his Life. It seemed more like a DLC of the first game included free in The game. Nowadays, they make you pay to have an Altair Skin
All crossovers: AC Revelations (Ezio): Altair Ibn La'Ahad AC Liberations (Aveline): Connor Kenway AC Rogue (Shay): Achilles Davenport, Adewale, Haytham Kenway, Charles Dorian (Top 1 crossover in my opinion) AC Valhalla (Eivor): Kassandra Speaking of physical appearances, don't mention.
"I want to see the two legends meet" *shows Kasandra and Eivor* "No! Not that!" *Ezio's meeting Altaire's corpse* *Connor mentioned his grandfather, Edward* *Shay murdered Arno's father* "Perfections!"
I was 15 years old, I had my first PC and AC2 was my second game ever, after Devil May Cry 3. AC2 poster looked fascinating and so i bought it. It was the first time I felt what it was to experience an amazing story. I was consumed by Ezio's life. Everyday I used to play it and used to discuss with my bestfriend. from that day have had 3-4 more PC's and have played a lot of the games and have stopped paying a lot of em too. Today I am 26 and now I only play games of two franchise, Assassin's Creed and DMC. I will buy AC shadows, even if it will be bad, but I always except AC to have some good in it.
Revelation never fail in sending chills down my spine🥶
The reason why we love ezio is because we know, somehow, that his story has something real. We feel his pain and understand his motivation.
One of the most heartfelt moments in The Ezio Trilogy. Back then Ubisoft used to write games with heart in it.
I liked the ac revelations crossover with ezio following altaïr's spirit or shadowy figure on uncovering the truth that he was planning on knowing what life or role he has played as Desmonds ancestor
still get goosebumps about ezios letter and the visuals
I miss actual cutscenes that show emotion ones that look like theyre out of a movie
Remember when assassins creed was about assassins?
if you want only one of the playable characters from the previous game to be cannon, then just have one dang character. cause you if picked the dude version than this moment means very little. meanwhile in the old games we know who both these dudes are if you played the games. please Ubisoft stop making these games choose your own protag, branching path games, and just go back to the old character driven stories we used to love
And have the balls to stick with it, Evie from syndicate is probably one of my favorite assassin's her design and movement made her stand out to me, if you choose a female protagonist then just do it I'm tired of this being woke shit in video games who cares.
Revelations is one of my favorite games ever. These lines are so etched into my mind.
Never forget what they took from us.
Kassandra movements lowkey feels like Achilles from Troy movie
Yes I was thinking the same thing (ubisoft need to make her strong waman)😂
The ac revelations music still gives me goosebumps to this very day
Ezio : Requiscat in pace, Altair
Meanwhile Desmond : Hey, wassamatta u Altair
My brother played and started with AC 1 and I started with AC 2 went back and played one. All I can say is the games r amazing and forever a part of my childhood
The newer crossover felt more like a cover model collab than it did a plot important event. It's like the log line for the scene was "they spar convincingly" instead of "the previous hero has developments to share with the newer assassin."
Best Crossover could have been, Connor, Shay and Arno. Shay hunting Connor and Arno Hunting Shay
What once was shall never be again. So enjoy that which you have while its still here for it will be gone in less then a blink of an eye.
I still can't get over Ezio headbutting a guy in a helmet. That shit is fucking goofy even years after.
the goosebumps when Ezio's voice started playing
the best crossover is when Ezio met copernicus and da vinci
Ezio trilogy was the best❤
I won’t wish my enemies the misfortune of suffering the slumberfest that Valhalla was. My goodness.
That Revelations theme is just so damn good
Nah first couple seconds of ezio talking i already liked it way better his voice just sounds so cool
Back when there was a cohesive plot line from one game to another spanning hundreds of years apart
Don’t forget about Rogue/Unity. Underrated
Ubisoft dropped the ball by not giving us a Shay vs Arno game.
Crossover then its more emotional than now
Requescat in Pace
"Maysaf was not home for The Assassins for 300 years now"
Instant Chills 🥶🗻
“The world will not suffer if it ends too soon”
That Kassandra/Eivor fight looks freaking amazing, to be honest
Ezio x Altair was the 100% best, it had soul, but AC Rogue blending the gap between Black Flag and 3 was also fucking spectacular.
After seeing this,i feel like Ezio
"I've seen enough for one life"
3:42 say what you will about Revalations, but the 4 games of Assassin's Creed at that time was a full circle and perfect to me.
For crossover now you should’ve used the final fantasy crossover in ac origins
Another problem with the Kassandra and Eivor fight other than it being entirely a cutscene, is that upon learning Eivor had a coincidentally super specifically similar blade to hers, Kassandra should've definitely white flagged and realized they're both allies from different times.
Okay, maybe my history is a bit off, but how can Kassandra even fight him? I thought they were seperated by a few hundred years?
Did you actually play all of Odyssey??
@@Arthur-pc1eh no because my copy let's me get about 10-12 hours into the game and then it keeps crashing until I restart from scratch
Revelations was on another level
Assassin's Creed Rogue had a cool cross over ending with Unity too.
oh lord, I cried so much playing Revelations for the first time... this game is a true gem ❤
ac4 was such a great metaphor for these games, a Templar lead entertainment company dissecting what once was the heart of the series and scooping out and dulling down everything to market to the largest audience possible
Imagine being the literal avatar of Odin and struggling to a minor demigod
Golly, Revelations still hits different to this day.
The stories of Altair and Ezio were connected, so it was in a way logical, that Ezio would some day find Altairs remains.
All crossovers:
AC Revelations (Ezio): Altair Ibn La'Ahad
AC Liberations (Aveline): Connor Kenway
AC Rogue (Shay): Achilles Davenport, Adewale, Haytham Kenway, Charles Dorian (Top 1 crossover in my opinion)
AC Valhalla (Eivor): Kassandra
Speaking of physical appearances, don't mention.
"I want to see the two legends meet"
*shows Kasandra and Eivor*
"No! Not that!"
*Ezio's meeting Altaire's corpse*
*Connor mentioned his grandfather, Edward*
*Shay murdered Arno's father*
"Perfections!"
You know for what its worth the Kassandra crossover was pretty cool
That revelations trailer was peak
0:39 Man I thought this turned into Mortal Kombat for a second😂
Ubisoft was really the greatest games making company. I can't say it anymore and I don't expect it at all either, I understand its their business.
Should've add where Ezio speaks to Desmond.
One is cool in combat the other in a sentimental way
Yo what’s the body armor eivor is wearing??
the ezio era was the best
Kenway Era was better
@@BLACKSTA361 nope edzio was the best
Agreed. The series ended with Ezio.
Everything after was a cash grab
@@devilhell69 Connor is the best MC
@@screenname6829 you're missing out. Black Flag and 3 are amazing
They both smack in different ways
Ezio and Altair "meet up" is goated but even crossover banter between ac4 and ac3 is a better "fan service" because it still value emotion
I imagine some people were thrown off by kassadra's appearance if they played Alexio instead.
Did i just see the WOODEN spear spark when it hit a STEEL AXE???
Always liked Alexios as the protag of odyssey more, just made more sense to me
Okay I think I am having a Mandela effect here because I remember Revelations’ cinematic/trailer was a live action back when I was kid.
crossovers now: cool af
crossovers then: cool af
