Good video. I've been reading a book "The Mountain Is You" and there was an interesting quote in the book. The point of life isn't trying to be happy all the time or to have the least amount of stress. Behind a goal of happiness lies unhappiness once you reach that goal. Because you will start looking for the next thing to make you happy. The point of life is to be able to live through the good days and the bad days with enough fluidity that you don't get stuck in your ways.

    • @plebisMaximus

So you're just supposed to live for no reason? Sounds a bit silly.

    • @malkimanmrhalloween1957
      @malkimanmrhalloween1957 8 месяцев назад +6

@@plebisMaximus Ok maybe my choice of words weren't great. English is not my first language. What I'm trying to say is that trying to be happy all the time will only make you more miserable. Because once you expierence hardship or stress (which will always happen) you will think that you're failing in life because you're not happy anymore.
That's what niko is saying in the video as well you need to learn to process and use the emotions that you feel to progress in your life. I'm not saying to not do things or buy things that make you happy. All i'm saying is there will be a point where you won't be able to do them anymore or maybe at one point in your life they will not make you happy anymore. What then?
And btw it's not possible to live without reason. The fact that you exist is a reason in itself. You are not aware of the impact you have on the world for just being alive because you never think about it. Without you or any of us existing the world would not be the same.

Honestly 2 years ago I became that average joe, that stresses about simple things. I did it to distract myself from other stress that consumes me. And yeah it did work. By stressing about simple things, you kinda forget about what really stresses you. Makes life really simple but at the price that you dont really have a personality.
my personality was always overthinking everything, over delivering and being hard on myself. Now im just kinda lost in my 20s. The average joe personality was really good for being social and not having constant stress. while the my formally normal personality gets things done and commits but at the price of being stressed and introverted.
So if you find some average joe stressing about simple things, hes probably just trying to be optimistic or start a conversation. You can spill him by saying the right words in the right order. heck you might even fix him.
And im slowly finding my way.

Thanks so much for the video :) The type of stress I'm going through right now feels mostly negative & unsolvable, but I still think the advice of facing it head-on is great. It helps to acknowledge it as a normal part of being human, rather than just hate that you're feeling it. If life was nothing but positive emotions & experiences then they wouldn't have any significance to us, they'd be empty. I think being stressed about something shows that it's significant to you, & despite the discomfort it brings, we're lucky to have things that matter to us enough to make us stressed! What is the point of life without that, anyway?

sure I am bad in examples every time :P, don't mind it if it was senseless, but its common for everyone to be senseless, its just that when are you going to overcome it, and maybe sometimes the thing you might feel senseless, might be sensible to many people out there

Be it religon to give you stress of needing to please a god, give it work to give you the capitalist need of working for a company and making a tiny portion for your labor and being able to barely live off it

Edit; Yes if we're talking about entitled kids, this is fine. I got the wrong vibe cause you spoke a bit harshly, but I guess if it's irritating you, people basically making their personality "venting about how anoyying stress is 24/7" I understand. I've felt the same kind of annoyance about people who soley seem to cover the negative shit in the gaming industry and me consuming it nonstop, not because I wanted to, but because it... well... was engaging? Engrossing? Yeah... And consuming that content naturally will make anyone want to give the thing that's giving them hell, hell back.
And also, I fucking hate engagement farmers, assuming that's what they're going on about their stress for as though it's a pseudo personality and is all they can seem to focus on in life + pretend to themselves with their massive egos that people actually care about their specific stress specifically. It's always felt pretty wrong to me, to make content about my life, I'm very private, so to hear these people post about their IRL stress and problems with their real life likeness... cringe.
    6:44 I dunno about that
    8:00 True
9:13 However, it's ultimately their choice, and they may need more context and that's fine I think. Plus who knows, they might avoid it successfully without needing to do it, although that's depending on multiple factors. Ultimately, stress is something people choose to face, they don't need a tough/kind/random man necessarily to tell them this message... granted it does make it easier for some.
16:20 Ah, I see, you fell for the mentality they teach at school. I am full of resent towards that attitude, but I believe people who get stressed easily over stuff that doesn't matter, haven't lived life or experienced much, and I don't envy them, nor do I hate them, it's just how it is. Everyone goes through that and telling them to suck it up now rather than later, while it can work, it isn't necessarily a great thing to tell a kid when you're forcing them to learn something that is incredibly complicated(for them, or in general).
18:41 I agree. Goddamn executive disfunction makes it so I'm paralyzed by it... or is that just the number of choices I have in terms of what to do with my free time, I.e. self educating... I am privileged I know, thank god, but I never expected to be this... multi directioned directionless...
