I've restored all 4 games of the 1970 Week 6 Howard Cosell halftime highlights segment, shown during the ABC Monday Night Football broadcast, Rams at Vikings, on October 26, 1970. The halftime highlight segments were always notorious for using awful-quality clips (way too bright, blown out, not crisp, etc). I found high-quality clips of the same shots/plays from the 1970 Week 6 'This Week in Pro Football' show and other films and replaced the original clips with these. I have re-created the original ABC on-screen graphics. In some cases the original clips were a bit longer than the replacement shots, or I didn't have footage at all for certain plays, and so I truncated parts of the footage/narration to make things fit. I worked on the original audio a bit, applying hiss and noise reduction. For comparison's sake, you can see the original quality segment here and be blown away by the upgrade --- ruclips.net/video/yDiLaIz77lg/видео.html
Thank you for another loving recreation of one of the iconic TV program segments of our lifetime. Plenty of times I was caught in class talking about the (cue Cosell voice) Halftime highlights as well as the MNF game itself!
You're welcome. I'm having fun with these, so hopefully many more to come :) Until I started working on these, I never realized just how awful the footage was that they would use for these highlights!
Mr. Volsky what you’re doing is historic. In the high quality digital format you’ve created, this era of sport is likely to survive 100s of years into the future.
He also even after gaining fame on MNF continued for years to do daily sports updates on the legendary 77 WABC Radio in New York and also hosted a Sunday night public affairs program, "Speaking of Everything" with two versions: One that aired locally on WABC, the other nationally on ABC Radio.
If u were a fan of an out of market team, this was basically the only way you would have received highlights. Crazy to think now given what we have now. Maybe u got lucky and your team was part of the weekly NFL Game of the Week highlight show..

This is what the present NFL Monday Night must return too!
Truly miss these halftime highlights!
They do on ESPN with Chris Berman with the fastest 3 minutes

I love the way the Chiefs painted the Field at Municipal stadium. It makes the visuals of the game more special!
I agree - beautiful contrasts

The half time highlights got some teams fans upset for their games not being shown
Great work as always Dave. Keep them coming.
I plan to. Having fun with these :)
I grew up with Howard Cossell. My Dad did not like him, but I have come to realize what a talent he was.

Even as a Giant I picture Fran Tarkington as a Viking.
Tarkenton
@@michaelleroy9281 Right got it.
Those unis were so much sweeter looking back then what happened?
Strange to see KC paint the field with Chiefs and Cowboys helmets. Maybe it was the Dallas connection.
Butkus having a conversation with the official on that touchdown call at 4:00. Pure belligerence 😂😂😂😂
Eagles player running without his Helmut. Great stuff.
Ben Hawkins never buttoned his chin strap

You could also watch, This week in Pro Football with Pat Summerall and Tom Brookshire on Saturday nights.
Dallas Kansas City was the half time highlights game of the week
Back when the game was real
Roman was OK I thought he was a bit overrated.
Detroit and Chicago a historic yawnfest.
The lions were pretty good then.
They made the playoffs that year@@geraldvanhees779
