Reminds me of the time one of my teachers read out loud the best short essay she got from my class.
It was the full intro dialogue of Fallout 2 submitted by one of my classmates. Poor thing had no idea what she gave full marks for. And I laughed my ass off for the whole thing, plus a few extra minutes.
The teacher know, that's why he gave full marks.

Dang, I don't have any funny church stories at all. I guess the most video-game-y story I have is since I was briefly on my church's worship team, I would sometimes just dabble and play short VGM melodies on the piano/guitar with only a few people around during rehearsal breaks.
One of our piano players played the Mii Channel theme underneath announcements. On Easter.

At my church, I had a friend that was a brilliant piano player that absolutely loved to play video game songs. One day, the pastor asked him to play some music as we were all conversing with each other. Without warning, he belted out "UN Owen was Her", much to the confusion of the congregation. The pastor asked him to tone it down a bit, but said he loved the music. Meanwhile, I'm shaking my head and containing my laughter, being probably the only person that knew about what he dished out.

Imagine if the song kept playing, and there's that 1 church member that actually knows the language hearing this and start panicking. meanwhile the people who don't know anything are jamming out, dancing while the very small amount of people who know the truth are just crying laughing.

One Winged Angel, One Failed Church Service
My dad has put parts of Jeff Wayne's Musical Version of the War of the Worlds into original worship songs before at our Church.
I still can't believe that's a thing that actually happened! How can a song be contemporary worship, with the full title being ONE Winged Angel? Unless there are actual angels with only one wing....

Anyway, my funniest church story won't top this by any means, but it _was_ the only time (so far) that I ever burst out laughing at church, and it's become a running gag with my family. We were listening to a CD where our pastor was delivering a sermon. Due to a combination of us not having a great CD player, the CD itself not being good quality, and (presumably) a scratch on the CD, we heard the following:
"The Book of Proverbs is sometimes also called the Book of Wi- Wi- Wi- Wi- Wi- Wi- Wi- Wi- Wi- Wisdo- do- do- do- do- do- do- do- do- dom."
I tried and failed to stifle my laughter, and even after an attempt to clean the CD, it skipped again (albeit at a later point) and I burst out laughing again. We ended up not being able to use that CD, and since we didn't have a backup, one of our deacons said the benediction and ended the service.
Wow, now THIS is a story! Amazing and so ... Plausible. It scared him, yeah now that's something... SEPHIROTH!

When I was young in church, y'know when people repeat what the priest was saying in church, yeah? Well i used to think it was jesus himself coming down to our church speaking in a tongue not known to human.....I then found out that it's just people repeating what the priest is saying and it's unintelligible because of the echo inside the church
