Very interested in your Advent Story. I've decided to make my own from scraps in January and then put it away till 1st December. I have such a bad memory it's bound to be a surprise by then, and also I know it will colours I like. Oh - and it will be free!
I had to stop at minute 43, watch half of pride and prejudice. I haven’t watched it for years, but it was totally worth bribing my kids for the tv. I started listening to the hobbit with my oldest kid (the Andy Serkis songs made my night). Finished watching Elizabeth and Mr Darcy fall n love again this morning. NOW I can finish the podcast. Thank you for sharing the things you enjoy. happy knitting, watching, listening etc
Okay you are probably tired of hearing me say this... but how is it that I love everything you design so much? Everything feels like my jam :D :D Also, I am completely in the same phase as you - I want all the green sweaters and all the blankets right now!
Rebecca, I'm one of those viewers who never misses an episode but is generally too shy to comment on RUclips. But you made me laugh out loud with your excitement for pride and prejudice and I'm right there with you. Your names were so good! I'm also tickled by the fact that I share your Mum's name and that I sailed all over your part of the world with my grandparents when I was a little one, the reverse of your sailing around my neck of the woods - the world is just full of fun coincidences. I love, love love your designs and am looking forward to knitting many over the years. Sending holiday cheer from Vermont, be well, Marina.
Thank you so so much for your contribution to Vermont Flood Relief. We had flooding again 2 weeks ago, thankfully, not as bad as July, but still traumatic as some of the same areas flooded again. Luckily, we are fine where we live. Your designs and knits are just gorgeous ❤ Happy New Year! Susannah
Pride and Prejudice both the BBC and 2005 is one of my favourite movies to watch, I am with you Rebecca I could watch it on repeat 😍 I love the names you come up for the yarn colours!
Congratulations on your lovely finished sweater. I smiled when you mentioned you were heading off to Ginger Twist. I live on the east coast of the United States, was in Edinburgh this summer and stopped in at Ginger Twist when I ran out of silk mohair for a sock I was making for my husband. They had a very good match, and my husband insisted that I also buy one of their shopping bags. Which is now my project bag.
I love love your stickless stick season sweater! (Well, all your designs) I bet a colorworkless Ruhe sweater would also be spot on! The shoulder construction intrigues me!!
I’m pretty new here, but your episodes are so much fun. I love hearing you talk about your own designs because you are obviously having the time of your life working out these details! Your joy is contagious! 💗
You are an absolute machine! Your mind must go, a mile a minute! I don’t know if that’s best thinking but whatever it is, you’ve got it! Thank you for your content.
So lovely to see you Rebecca and ALL your sweaters and WIPs!! I already have the yarn picked out for that cabled sweater design 💖 I was inspired by your blanket to try some Advent knitting this year. I’m making a Daft Days shawl with my hand dyed ock club yarn from 2023 and really loving the pattern. Thank you for sharing your Advent knits. I can’t wait to see the next colors of the Hobbit journey and P&P ✨😍✨
Wow the new jumper is so beautiful too! I cannot keep up with all your beautiful patterns... :-) The cabled sweater (white) I first thought: what a nice vest!
Love the color way names for your P&P advent calendar! I also love that movie (and book)- I might have to read and watch it again soon! Thank you for sharing your knits!
Oh bummer.. I was so waiting for this test knit call out & didn't see it. Oh well.. guess I'll have to wait to knit this beautiful sweater when the pattern comes out 🙌
I'm just as excited as you to see you open your 2005 P&P advent calendar!!! I looooooooove that movie and you're so right that it is straight up the VIBES that make it so perfect! My favourite thing about the movie is the colour scheme, especially all the beautiful sunrise and sunset scenes 😍
You nailed it with the P & P color names ❤😂. Most ardent is imo the perfect perfect blue. Love the colors, love the inspiration. Am going to have to go re-watch the film now and guess which other colors might be coming. Congrats on how well your charity pattern sales went / are going! Yay, such a fun way to give😊. Ok, me at the end of the episode: 😢 I want to devour a mince pie and flit off to a yarn shop too…. Enjoy!!
Yesterday, You were the topic of conversation at my Friday knitting group….ALL SO positive! I just want to know how you quiet your mind enough to sleep!! When you said that you already have a plan for a sweater for next winter, I stopped in my tracks! I absolutely love the ‘pickle’ green Sticks sweater that is knit plain. I just knit a 1x1 Purl Soho hat in Pickle Green and it is beautiful! I’m thinking this episode provided permission to a bazillion knitters to open their advents when they arrive or at least all on the first day to see just what they have and increasing the joy in the final knit. I just finished a scrappy blanket holding one strand of ‘snow’ fingering with scraps that I have….knitting as much as I want to! If after two rows I decided the color wasn’t working, I just switched. It was very liberating! The blanket is for my 9 year old (on the 20th) granddaughter. It’s 50” wide and 60” long/127cm x 152cm and I cast on 220sts with US8/5mm. Thank you so much for taking the time to podcast and, although I am watching 2 Vlogmas, it is refreshing to see a ‘regular’ podcast! ❤
Hello! Just wanted to say thanks so much for organising the yarn advent calendar. I did it and I'm really enjoying the calendar I received and really enjoyed putting together the one for my swap partner.
I’m intrigued with the shoulder construction on the Rhue sweater. I think it’s a perfect compromise between a drop shoulder and a raglan shoulder. I can’t wait to try it out on some orphaned green yarn that followed me home yesterday.
Enjoyed the “real” episode! Have a wonderful holiday season. I sincerely hope you are taking good care of your hands/wrists/arms Such great progress you’re making. Hugs from Florida
Your designs are so cool! You're extremely talented too to pick the right yarn for the right projetct ... can't wait to see what your next projects will be
I don't think it's talent, it's mostly that I swatch with everything I can get my hands on before I can make up my mind! It takes a while and I'm definitely getting more fussy
If the sweet shop blanket comes out a little small you could add a few inches with a garter border rather than an icord one. I love your new cable design, and also the Rhue, so sad I missed the test knit application
Very curious to see how the chicken sweater is going to develop! I can't imagine the finished project just yet. Love your other new designs. And your green stickless is gorgeous. I am so in love with green right now. I knit the Sonja in Nutiden in the colourway Bladguld. The colour is so beautiful. Very similar to your yarn combo. But I decided I will copy yours anyway because the fabric will be different and that justifies having two sweaters in the same colour 😁
I get so excited about advents but find it so hard to find any…… then the holidays approach and everyone gets these cool advents. Wow so sweet! Love them. ClaudiaSJI
100% with you on P&P... I always say if you want the book transplanted onto a screen, watch the BBC one. If you don't have a spare 6 hours, watch 2005 😁 A deep green like Lizzy's dress would be a perfect wool colour!
I am knitting your Daft Days cardigan with my first yarn advent box, and I am loving both the yarn and the pattern! I must now start picking a yarn and a color to knit your new cabled sweater. Thank you for all the great patterns!
Your stick season hat is one of my favorite hat patterns. I have knit two and plan to knit at least 3 more plus the sweater when I get my Explorer Knits order. The fit is perfect!!!
All the best for the Xmas festivities I got a surprise parcel as I had done a sample knit for Susan Crawford so she sent me a complimentary copy of her new book lovely things in it couldn’t have come at a better day as I had taken hubby to the royal and he is seriously ill with gangrene on his foot and blockage s in main arteries but we are hopeful with meds and surgery but the parcel cheered me up immensely Your designs are stunning I don’t usually knit in round I can do just a preference for straight needles but I will give a go I ve been knitting for 66 years learned at four xxx
I just love all of your designs! I’m knitting Daft Days with my advent and Road to China Light in beige. I can wait to see the final result. So far the advent colors are pastels so the fabric is beautifully muted
Ok lady! Ive ordered the yarn you suggested for the rhue sweater. I cant wait to make for my daughter in darkest red and white. How long till pattern is out? Not that im in a rysh lol. Love your designs !!
I’m chuckling at the kip comment. My sister and her family live in Belgium and yes kip = chicken. I love the kip curry you get in the supermarkets in tubs like or coleslaw. I’m loving the texture in that kip sweater. And oooooooo that cable sweater. 😍😍😍. At the end of January it is our 40th wedding anniversary and the plan is to visit Edinburgh. Ginger twist is top of my list. Can you recommend others please? That are worth visiting xxx
I’ve been so reluctant to do a yarn advent because I’m so picky about colours sometimes… but especially listening to you talk about the hobbit one makes me want to do one next year…
Yes! I feel this. I think the way to have the best success is to pick from a dyer where you love almost everything they do, then regardless of the inspiration you'll like the end result.
I'm really looking forward to the release of rue/ruhe sweater. I love the fibre co lore yarn and that design is beautiful! If you haven't tried it yet their Cumbria fingering weight is also a fantastic yarn although not quite as budget friendly as lore. I also have some of their meadow and it feels really nice but I haven't knit with it yet so can't recommend that one just yet 😊
I‘m loving the zig zag pattern of the Kip Sweater 😍. As soon as it comes out, it will be my next project. You already had me with the swatch 😊. There is a German expression making the connection between the pattern and the chicken: „Zicke-zacke Hühnerkacke“ (literally in English: „zig zag chicken poop“). The meaning and usage are hard to explain for me. I think something along the lines of: „That didn’t go well“. It’s used mainly by children in situations where something goes wrong, also in a mean way when someone else fails.
I'm an interchangeable needle person. But I do curate my collection to include the sizes that I need/use the most. I don't have the set of chiaogoo's instead I have selected sizes and cable lengths and add to the collection when needed
Thanks for another inspiring podcast. I love your designs; I just finish knitting the Corran Cardigan in Lore and I love it, and so does everyone that sees it. By the way, when do you sleep?
I think I'm in the minority, but the herringbone texture of Kip vaguely brings to mind chicken tracks for me, so I think the name is perfect! Beautiful design, but I love them all.
That white cabled pullover is ✨everything✨ 🤩 is your sample in the Drops Daisy yarn? I’m already planning what yarn I’ll need (or find in stash) to apply for the test whenever it does come out 😅 it’s so classic, old school J Crew, fisherman on a wharf, hiking through the highlands vibes. Classic, stunning, gorgeous 💫💫💫💫💫
I kept guessing what you were going to pick based on the colors for the P&P advent. I was on the same track as you - your names were way better but at least I was tracking! What EXCELLENT boiled potatoes! 😂 Do you have any thoughts on the Netflix Persuasion? Love the new colorwork sweater!
Just curious, for your stick season without the sticks did all the stitch counts stay the same? Did you have modify any tho make it stick-less? thanks!
I look forward to seeing your sweaters. There is gorgeous!! But ( excuse the critique) I would enjoy it soooo much more if you didn’t talk so fast. Just a thought to consider. Keep deigning and sharing
I'm sorry to be so dense, but when you were talking about being a fan girl, I couldn't catch what you are a fan girl about. Can you (or someone) please tell me?
Rebecca I love your patterns ....you are very talented. However when watching your podcasts I'm sorry but it is difficult to make out what you're saying....you talk so quickly. You mentioned something about your grandmother's ring but it was all a jumble. I myself am Scottish so the language is not the problem.
I know! In the past I've tried to slow down and I find it so hard to stay that way. My top tip is that you can slow me down! There's a little settlings icon in the bottom right, if you turn the playback speed to 80 or 90% it's a bit more like normal.
Very interested in your Advent Story. I've decided to make my own from scraps in January and then put it away till 1st December. I have such a bad memory it's bound to be a surprise by then, and also I know it will colours I like. Oh - and it will be free!
I love the cable cardigan!! I would love this in a vest/pullover. Can't wait the pattern release. Hope it's soon ❤
I had to stop at minute 43, watch half of pride and prejudice. I haven’t watched it for years, but it was totally worth bribing my kids for the tv. Yay, 52 cozy minutes of knitting ❤ would love to test the cable sweater! It looks stunning as do all of your other designs, Rebecca!
Ivi děkuji za příjemné povídáni, moc hezky se mi při tom pletlo. Ty vlny to je nádhera. Úplně jsem se radovala s vámi. 🙂🧶🧶🧶🧡❤️💙
Susannah
yes to the V neck cable sweater! you know who´s going to knit it straight away right ;) sending hugs from rainy Spain!
I’m so glad I saw this episode, because I love the way you’re using your mini-skeins, mixed with a creamy white background. Really very effective! 🎉
Pride and Prejudice both the BBC and 2005 is one of my favourite movies to watch, I am with you Rebecca I could watch it on repeat 😍 I love the names you come up for the yarn colours!
Stunning new design and love the peridot - also my birthstone as well share the same birthday 💚
Congratulations on your lovely finished sweater. I smiled when you mentioned you were heading off to Ginger Twist. The cable sweater is absolutely stunning. You are an incredible designer- the detail and thought that goes into your designs are amazing
I love love your stickless stick season sweater! (Well, all your designs) I bet a colorworkless Ruhe sweater would also be spot on! The shoulder construction intrigues me!!
Such a good idea! I definitely think it would be a comfy fit.
Rebecca, your knits are gorgeous. The herringbone is so pretty, and the white pepper colorway is perfect. Great job on everything!
Such a delight. Oh that cabled sweater is pure joy
Okay this episode has me SOLD on hand-dyed advents. Your excitement for them is infectious!
Love the new sweater. I can see myself knitting it up 🧶🧶😍
Thank you! 😊
So lovely to see you Rebecca and ALL your sweaters and WIPs!! I already have the yarn picked out for that cabled sweater design 💖 I was inspired by your blanket to try some Advent knitting this year. Oh my goodness! So much eye candy! Beautiful designs and the colors are gorgeous.
Thank you so much!

Thank you Rebecca, great podcast. I love your aesthetic.
The plan for your day sounds lovely. Enjoy.

Great podcast! I’m enjoying my advent swap. Thank you so much for organizing it!
Oh my, I think you must have watched Pride and Prejudice as many times as me! And read the book! Great podcast, love your designs and your podcast
It's just so good and stands up so well to rewatching.

Hello! Just wanted to say thanks so much for organising the yarn advent calendar. I did it and I'm really enjoying the calendar I received and really enjoyed putting together the one for my swap partner.
Oh my goodness I love that cable sweater sooo much . I need that one
I NEED to knit that cabled sweater!! It's just the kind of cabled sweater pattern I've been looking for. 😍
You are a knitting machine! I wanted to tell you that I listen to your podcast at 0.75x speed so I get every word!😊
Ahh I love this! I've tried to slow down in the past but it doesn't seem to last for very long.
I’m intrigued with the shoulder construction on the Rhue sweater. I think it’s a perfect compromise between a drop shoulder and a raglan shoulder. I can’t wait to try it out on some orphaned green yarn that followed me home yesterday.
I have not done a full cable sweater-your pattern is beautiful; I can’t wait for the pattern to come out.❤
I’m so looking forward to knitting your upcoming designs! 😍
Enjoyed the “real” episode! Have a wonderful holiday season. I sincerely hope you are taking good care of your hands/wrists/arms Such great progress you’re making. Hugs from Florida
You really make my day every time! Wishing you a joyful December ❤
Oh that cable design would make an awesome vest / slipover as well
Nice change of pace with the advents. Also, I am LOVING that Kip sweater. 🖤
Oh love the new sweaters, love your blankets ❤❤
Your designs are so cool! You're extremely talented too to pick the right yarn for the right projetct ... can't wait to see what your next projects will be

Love all your designs! The Rhue sweater is gorgeous!! I wish I were a faster knitter...my to-be-knit patterns are piling up.
You might want to watch Out Of Africa, especially the scene where Robert Redford washes Meryl Streep’s hair out on safari-talk about the vibe!! 😊
I just love all of your designs! I’m knitting Daft Days with my advent and Road to China Light in beige. I can wait to see the final result. So far the advent colors are pastels so the fabric is beautifully muted
I love the Andy serkis audiobooks for hobbit and lord of the rings too!
Please make a slipover pattern with that cable design too. It would be super cute!
Love this sweater!!
I love herringbone stitch- I have done a sweater with a vertical variation, but they are all great. I am already looking forward to making this!
Yes to the yellow yarn name! As I am knitting the Alder with yellow as the contrast color!
Love that!
Looking forward to the herringbone sweater-how about “chicken scratch?”
IMHO the Kip sweater is absolutely giving chicken vibes. The herringbone stitch looks just like a bird walked back and forth across your sweater. 😂
I think the stickless sweater adds loads of value . Release them together for a bit more
Now I am desperate to watch pride and prejudice. Anyway, your designs are all fab! Will def knit the Rui (?!) when it's released x
lol kip is the name of a character from my favorite show as a preschooler who wears blue, so now a blue kip sweater is in my to do for 2024! XD
I always open my advents all at one time! I’m not investing any knitting time without a good view and plan. 😂
Love your sweater!!!!!
Ok lady! Ive ordered the yarn you suggested for the rhue sweater. I cant wait to make for my daughter in darkest red and white. How long till pattern is out? Not that im in a rysh lol. Love your designs !!
Love ❤your designs! Your new sweaters look gorgeous! Unfortunately I can’t knit as fast as you 😢 Do you ever sleep?? Have a nice Christmas 🎅
I think the herringbone pattern could be “chicken scratches”. 😉 It’ll be gorgeous when it’s done!
I also have some of their meadow and it feels really nice but I haven't knit with it yet so can't recommend that one just yet 😊
omg...I am 100% with you on the 2005 P&P...also how strange to hear that song in Napoleon was very thrown off by it in that movie.
You are so so talented 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👌👍💌
I'm an interchangeable needle person. But I do curate my collection to include the sizes that I need/use the most. I don't have the set of chiaogoo's instead I have selected sizes and cable lengths and add to the collection when needed
Your all over cabled sweater would be so beautiful as a vest as well as a cardigan. Please, please , please design it as a vest also.
We have four chickens and you could say the diagonal texture looks a little like their chicken feet 😂❤
I thought the herringbone looked like chicken feet too!!
Thinking the white cable sweater WIP could actually look really nice as a vest 🤔
You should make a sample of your Kip sweater out of Hue Loco's chicken themed yarn! It would be so perfect. 😅
Read The Invention of Nature, by Andrea Wulf...it's on Audible, too...and very well-read there.
Fab!
I love your blanket design with the small squares. Did you design it or are you using someone else’s pattern? Please let me know - I want to make it!❤
It's the Sweet Shot Blanket by Laura Penrose.
Just curious, for your stick season without the sticks did all the stitch counts stay the same? Did you have modify any tho make it stick-less? thanks!
Stayed the same. The gauge in the texture is the same as stockinette so it was really simple to do
I love the green sweater you are wearing but I can’t find the pattern. Do you have a link to it?
If it's the pale green one, it's the Stick Season sweater! Just without the texture.
Link for the hobbit advent company please!
I look forward to seeing your sweaters. There is gorgeous!! But ( excuse the critique) I would enjoy it soooo much more if you didn’t talk so fast. Just a thought to consider. Keep deigning and sharing
Even in het Nederlands; ik zie toch echt veren in je kip! 😂
I'm sorry to be so dense, but when you were talking about being a fan girl, I couldn't catch what you are a fan girl about. Can you (or someone) please tell me?
Pride and Prejudice. I had to rewind myself.
♥♥♥🎄🧶🎄♥♥♥
Rebecca I love your patterns ....you are very talented. However when watching your podcasts I'm sorry but it is difficult to make out what you're saying....you talk so quickly.
