- In a society that worships youth, 99-year-old Apfel is a breath of fresh air. She is a fashion icon. Her unconventional style icon’s fabulousness and ageless spirit is on full display in each and every photo. She along with women like Helen Mirren, Maye Musk and Diane Keaton are examples of women with eclectic and bohemian style who inspire us to express ourselves in an authentic way in our 60's and older.
In this video I discuss how to feel beautiful and resilient and stylish after 60 and offer some inspiration from these amazing women! But we must not forget all the amazing women in our lives, our moms, aunts, friends and acquaintances who are equally gorgeous in their unique ways. You can read the article below to meet some of these women!

Museum. I have always been
described as a fashion plate and
when I was younger ( high school
and college+) was a model but
wish I was as brave as Iris. Maybe also because at 5’10” I
was always self- concious about
my height but she inspires me to
push the envelope a bit more.

Thank you for this fun and inspiring video. Iris Apfel and Iman are two of my favorite older women as well! Both also have clothing lines on the Home Shopping Network. And their pieces are so special because they're not afraid of color and/or pattern. I have one of Iman's jackets that is a gorgeous pattern of bright green and purple and it's a favorite. You absolutely sparkle in bright pink and look fabulous!

So true about the older we get the more freedom we have to be ourselves! Unless you are walking around with your underwear on your head, you can pretty much fly under the rador. When I learned how to embrace that instead of feeling sad that I'm not noticed as much then I really began to enjoy myself and feel free.

Thank you so much for doing this for us I'm 73 a widow I live with my son have had severe depression and agoraphobia very really leave the house adorned if I didn't start an Instagram channel and now I started RUclips channel most likely making a fool of myself but I used to be a licensed makeup artist for lancome and Estee Lauder though I can't do any of the things these young girls do but I'm trying it cheers me up so much it's amazing I so far have got one nasty remark out of only three RUclipss lol but it cheers me up to see if I get any subscribers it just gives me something to look forward to even if somebody makes fun of me my kids get mad and delete it thank God thank you for your wonderful channel you look gorgeous God bless

I liked the Annie Oakley styles when I was younger. Then the paisley, angel sleeve tops as a teen. I am still the blue 👖 baby type. I still like a floral print tops. I do wear some screen print tees.

I might color my hair to increase the ability to wear a more varied assortment of colors that I normally wouldn't otherwise dare to try. They make me look garish, or hollowed out. But I am becoming braver.

WOW….You look absolutely stunning, amazing, dynamic in the outfit you are wearing!!!!! Definitely your color!! You sooo rock this outfit!!
Oh…and the pink hat!!! Yeeeesss! The necklace is a great anchor piece, especially if that top is paired with jeans or long denim skirt. Give the entire outfit a bit of an edgy look with chunky combat-type boots (which I would seek out second hand) and splatter different colors of paint on them! I’m telling you, if you go anywhere in that outfit, I guarantee you, you will turn heads (in a positive way)! Ok….now I REALLY want that outfit!!!! I do have that pink in an oversized off the shoulder top…just purchased a long mermaid style denim skirt at a thrift store; now just need hat (I think maybe a thrift store find and then I will paint that sucker with fabric paint), boots, and large bead necklace (which I will either make or find at a flea market and paint if necessary). I can’t wait to splatter or splash paint on a pair of boots….today’s art project!!!
I've always had a specific Boho Gypsy style since I was quite young and I remember Mom would be horrified at the way I dressed 😀.
Later I started to combine it with a classic style, so I like to think my style is fairly unique like Apfel's.
I really enjoy creating new outfits with what I already have in my cupboard.

I recently purchased a dress with two wild prints and beaded straps. It's not the most flattering on my short frame but I love it. It was not inexpensive and I paid a lot to have the beaded straps shortened so I wear it almost everyday. The company, FARM Rio, also has a collaboration with Havaianas, so I can wear wild thong sandals too. I live in Florida and don't want to look like the typical retiree.

I used to wear soft pale color lipstick…Forget that! At 82 I have switched to a brighter cherry 🍒 red! My Italian grandma wore black for years after grandpa died. When her first granddaughter was to be married she was talked into a new and colorful dress. She came home from the store with a gray print! WHAT ELSE CAN I SAY????
