    I've been following Ben for years now and I like this new educational format for the stream. I'm biased though. Chess is an outlet for me, I use it the way others use drugs, when I play I can forget my problems and just think about the moves on the board. Ben and his family have gotten me through some tough times

    To the guy in chat asking about the Grunfeld I think there are two ways to take the sting out of it
    One option is after d4 Nf6 c4 g6 to just play g3 and avoid the Grunfeld entirely, which I think also reduces the attacking potential of the King's Indian
    Another option is after d4 Nf6 c4 g6 Nc3 d5 cxd5 Nxd5 to play Bd2 and only next move play e4, which takes away most of the central pressure

    Remember the snap brought back the people who disappeared but not those who died because of the disappearance. So the heart surgeon disappears during surgery the patient dies but the surgeon comes back, the pilot disappears and returns but the people on the plane who did'nt disappear cant come back. they could have literally brought everyone back who died during and after the snap as well as the snap dusted people with one snap.

    I don't think Kasparov is better than Carlsen because he is more tactical. It's just a different playing style. That's like saying Tal is better than Carlsen. He's not, he just plays more exciting.

    • @Qhsjahajw
      @Qhsjahajw 3 года назад

      You missed everything tbh, Tal was nothing like Kasparov. Kaspy could play however he wanted. He beat the god of positional chess in a positional and slow manner. His calculations were far ahead of Tal, and Tal barely lasted on the top. Kasparov lasted forever.

      @Qhsjahajw 3 года назад

      that doesnt matter. Giri at age 16 beat Carlsen at his prime with black. But when giri got better he ended up losing a lot against carlsen. Pragg beat Wesley so in a game in rapid at age 12. And Wesley was not as old as Kasparov was

  • @JacksonHorschel
    @JacksonHorschel 4 месяца назад

    You need to do a video on the differences of Carlsens play between OTB and the lichess arenas where he dominates completely
    It’s fishy in my opinion and he uses that reputation as proof of his superiority but otb his play takes on a completely different characteristic

    It doesn’t make any sense to judge a players skill based on how well other players were playing. If you look at top level games it is clear chess today is generally more accurate and is played at a higher level across the board than it ever has been. Carlsen might be the most accurate player in history and his dominance right now is nothing short of amazing, even in today’s competitive atmosphere. I contend strongly that he is the strongest player in history.

    • @Ren1111
      @Ren1111 5 лет назад +8

      Ben has said it before, games today are 90% opening theory because we have chess ai playing perfectly for 40 moves + to learn from. The old chess geniuses had none of that to work with. Its like carlsen has to memorize the order a deck of cards was shuffled in, hard but not impossible. Fischer Kasparov Morphy karpov didnt have millions of games of analysis in a computer program to learn from, they studied from books and played chess intuitively. They got to see maybe the first 10 cards on the deck and guess the order of the next 42 cards.

    • @nicolascarreras2864
      @nicolascarreras2864 5 лет назад +1

      @@Ren1111 Ben is wrong :/. They analize ALL the games, not just opening theory, and carlsen IS indeed the most accurate... And to me morphy is the goat

    • @lawrencecgn3763
      @lawrencecgn3763 5 лет назад +1

      Carlsen is certainly not known for having the best opening preparation in the world. Caruana, who Ben oddly loves, is far more reliant on that. On the contrary, Carlsen deviates from opening theory rather quickly in order to force his opponents out of the book and beat them in unclear and complicated positions.
