Had to be one of the most straight to the point videos with a full breakdown of all you need to know and no extra bullshut like most others. Good vid bro. Keep it up. U may get as good as me one day. Lol jk.
We've got a 96 that we got for my son with about 416k miles. It's been sitting most of the time since we got it for various reasons. The bigger problem was that the power windows and speedometer and lights wouldn't work. A couple of years ago the mechanics where my husband works got it going, but on the hour drive home, all that went out again. We recently started trying to get it going again. Replacing the battery and several fuses under the dash got everything working. But then the fuses would blow again, 1 and 10 specifically. I looked up what would cause 1 to blow and it said the VSS, so that led us to your video. This seems to be the reason the speedometer stops working. We'll probably look into this some next weekend to see if it fixes the problem, but you're video seems to be a somewhat simple solution to a problem that's been plaguing us for years. If this is the end of it, my son will be very happy to have his car going again. Thank you.
Replacing the vss I am having trouble getting a bolt out on my 93 Honda accord lx any help would be great. That video was great so I hope to get my speedometer working again.
Have Po500 code 99 accord 2.3 manual. Vss stuck in differential. Jack up front tire and spin back and forth? How much force do I apply to the plastic case vss?
Thanks! I may need to do this because the speedo on my ’97 Accord SE was bouncing around then quit. How do you know to check the VSS before pulling the plug off?
the abs sensor has nothing to do with the speedometer on a honda. I would definitely look at those terminals in the connector for the speed sensor, then replace the speed sensor if the wiring is good.
Hello.....I’ve replaced my speed sensor twice in my 91 Honda Accord and it still doesn’t work and is pulling code 17 (speed sensor) the odometer worked with the old part periodically but the new part I have no function.....what is wrong with my lil antique? I want her fixed and don’t know what to do. Can someone pls suggest something?
Bro this just happened to my 97 accord i was going about 40/45 speedometer started fluctuating and it seemed as if stall could this the vss or something else entirely
That helped I have a new sensor and connector in the mail. I replaced the speed sensor with a used one from a different car and I'm still in the same problems. So probably is that connector. They call it a pigtail online. Glad to know I can probably pull it apart and fix it. I'm hopeful now that replacing pigtail will fix my problem maybe I'll go ahead and leave the speed sensor on there. Speed sensor was the expensive one at $10 on Amazon.
Hey I saw at the end when you were driving the d4 light was flashing/ blinking I'm startering to have this on a 95 odyssey any tips thanks in advance of you reply back
It does. It's doing it to mine too. Got a 96 2.2 VTEC. It makes the turbine disengage, then it'll work good again until I let off has and press accelerator. I'm replacing it now but I'm having trouble with the bolt that's towards the driver side

Mine speedometer starts to work either tapping the brake pedal a few times or after 15 minutes. Could it still be a bad speed sensor?
man, I dont know. Thats a tough one
@@hondaresource thanks man. Yeah I don’t know. Now it’s been working for the last two weeks lol.
I’m also drive a 96 accord so this video is amazing
What if I have 1 dead abs sensor and the D4 starts blinking on the dashboard if I change the speed sensor will the speedometer work again?

@@hondaresource what if that do not solve the problem then what should I do?
@@nothing9271 bad cluster
whats with the blinking D4 light...had the same problem..😃
thats a transmission code. if your car is obd2, a good scanner can read it.
@@hondaresource thanks man...DIY 1st replacing the speed sensor...love yr video 🖖

After fixing the issue the D4 light on the dash was flashing while you were driving. Would that be related to another issue?
Yes
Good instructions
Thanks man, I hope it helps you
Hey I saw at the end when you were driving the d4 light was flashing/ blinking I'm startering to have this on a 95 odyssey any tips thanks in advance of you reply back
the flashing d4 is a transmission code, this car had other issues.
I have a honda accord 1996, when I accelerate it cannot exceed three thousand turns, I would like you to tell me what to do please thank you
Go to the parts store and get them to scan it, it's free
I'm having this same problem. Once replaced, will the D4 light stop blinking?
Possibly. There are several reasons the d4 light could blink
@@hondaresource okay, thank you.
I have a question. Why does the D4 light blink
That's usually a transmission code
does vss affect the gear to slip to null sometimes ???
Not that I'm aware of
It does. It's doing it to mine too. Got a 96 2.2 VTEC. It makes the turbine disengage, then it'll work good again until I let off has and press accelerator. I'm replacing it now but I'm having trouble with the bolt that's towards the driver side
Do the vss sensors ever go bad?
Yes but not terribly common
Your D4 was flashing when you test drove it,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
My rpms gauge have stop working
Could be a bad cluster
Helped cuz I RUclips to learn cuz idk much!!! Rather do it myself cheaper!!!
That car isn't fixed. Frigging D light was flashing at the end. Smfh
this car had other issues. This video demonstrates how I have fixed numerous honda's with speedometer issues.
Thumbs down guy is a miata driver.. explains a lot
hell yeah..... hmmm.. I wouldn't mind doing a k swap miata one day lol
