After the pandemy, many people decided to opt out of working for a company for more stress and little pay while the cost of living kept rising. So now they're putting the squeeze on gig workers to make them return to work.

So is Uber and Doordash going to provide employees with company vehicles now? Because the reason we were independent contractors is because we provide half of the service by using our own vehicles. People are fools if they continue to work for these tech companies using their own vehicle without proper compensation.

If people don’t want to work in the rules provided they can stay home. That’s a free choice. So, you have to vote Trump, and he can work on a plan to get you back to independant contractor, perhaps making a bit more money. this plan may be good fpr you, but when gig worker are late, or surely because they know that can't be fired, people going to stop using the service and start using taxis again. It use to be beneficial to have contractors to reduce payroll expenses. People often forget that the US is a corporation and we are being penalized for having job at this pint. J.O.B = Just on a Budget . All the tax laws, cuts, and benefits go to owning and scaling a business. bottom line.. WE have to own businesses.

And when your vehicle breaks down they will pay for it. All of the other benefits that are required will be paid out according to how much time you actually put in. It’s not a big deal these companies are skirting and using all of the drivers as their slaves. Well they’re having to $80,000 parties permit for a night and drinks and food in San Francisco

Hi Shawn, I'm a person that depends on gig workers. Let me tell you what I know. As you may or may not know there have been layoffs happening. The companies like Lyft and Uber are caught up, as you said they were the main violators of their people and now they will pay the price. Other companies will cut their forces.
I just got an Amazon delivery yesterday and they went up $2 on a $5 dollar tip, and they did not tell anyone. That tip is added to the cost of delivery. If Amazon has to raise fees I'm not going to order from them, because the price I will pay I might as well take an Uber to the supermarket.
Bottom-line, this going to hurt a lot of people. You think it will amount in a lot of money, I don't think so.
Let's talk about margins. How much you think they companies are raking in when their costs are going to go up 30%?
One of two things will happen. They will increase prices to cover the costs, or they will cut cost to try and stay profitable.
In the first case, if the increase prices to cover cost they will lose customers.
Customers don't understand the business rational of increased prices, when they did not pay that before. They will just stop buying that product at that price, they will change their consumer behavior.
In the second case, the CFO will run the numbers and come back and say we have to cut this many loose to maintain profitability. Healthcare cost, increased salaries, other benefits, will become unaffordable at the company’s current payroll level, and people will have to go and the company will operate at that level and grow back when Trump comes back and erases pretty Joe's dumb plan that will put hundreds of thousands of gig workers out of that job.
My opinion, this is just another disastrous decision made by Biden that is Anti-American, as many of his policies have turned out to be. All those gig workers should remember in November who messed up their money when they go to vote.

Bro, what are you talking about? This is a good thing! If we're going to be considered to be employees, then the gig companies are obligated to pay us as W2 employees, instead of 1099 workers, which means we don't have to worry about owing anything to the IRS at the end of the year. Also, we get a guaranteed minimum pay, which will most likely be $18 to $25 per hour, plus overtime time and a half pay for working over 40 hours a week, paid time off, sick pay, possible holiday pay, medical and dental benefits, life insurance, etc. I don't understand your views on this. All of this is amazing, but you're trying to convince others (sheep) of the complete opposite. I appreciate your videos, but I don't understand your views on this. You WANT for your pay to be variable and dependent on luck, nothing guaranteed, no overtime time and a half pay, and you want to be left owing the IRS at the end of the year? SMH. If anything, this is a major WIN for gig workers.

Note that many gig workers are going to be laid off because of the increase in cost to have workers. Not to mention the 30% increase in these goods and services provided by gig workers. The companies are most likely going to have to seriously cut their numbers and give the bulk of the hours and benefits to those more committed. A short economics lesson 101: Let the markets do their work and government needs to leave the industries be.

I do agree with you on a lot of what you are saying, if you watch and LISTEN to what I said in the video. I also did say that this may be a good thing but not sure. Also, people are sick and tired of being treated like an employee, there's a lot that comes along with this new directions when it comes to companies outsourcing. You're looking at one side however, there's a catch to that on the backend concerning these companies. I'm just waiting to see how they're going to adjust. Happy new year my brother.

All these gig type jobs take part of your tip money and now keep more of the delivery fees that use to go to the independent contractor. Instacart is notorious for this. Made a kill during the pandemic when more people wanted groceries delivered. But what they pay the gig worker became less and they try to double and triple the deliveries for one delivery fee. They have done well enough to be traded on the stock market but not pay their independent contractors fair. Really it's over saturated with too many doing it and they aren't being selective about who can do it anymore. Bottom line it's your gas and mileage on your car as well as wear and tear. 3 deleveries for one fee doesn't make any sense especially if you have worked for them for years and know how it use to be. Perhaps this will help.

The law isn't going to change anything for gig workers. It protects people from being taken advantage of. Otherwise Uber would be no more. I'm making almost a band a week with it right now this week.

The busses and trains are empty the government is coming after uber and lyft. The government don't care about drivers. The issue is too many people in the gig economy and they want to tax your income. It not just uber and lyft most companies are switching to independent contractors. Uber and lyft drives are asking for fair price regulation not to be employees. Fairs should be in line with taxi cabs and companies such not be able to take most of the money drives make

No, I’m going to see my rights protected throughout the labor law. I will be paid overtime sickleave work call unemployment and pay for my expenses while I perform this job rather than being paid five dollars per hour maximum with no benefits whatsoever. None of the drivers are receiving benefits. If you know that, please let me know that money there two dollars per ride going straight into the piggy bank.
