Thanks for the video, very informative. This did not address my particular issue however. I do have the Vizio 55in VF551XVT but the issue with mine looks like wrinkles in the tv picture. Not lines per say but it looks like wrinkles or wavy black lines. They are not very dark but when there is a light colored source on the screen you cant miss them. If I were to send you a picture of this do you think perhaps you could identify the possible issue?
Erik - thanks for posting this. I have the exact model, and I have replaced all 4 boards (controller, power supply, CPU and backlight board). The logo and lower left LEDs come on, but the screen never lights up at all. Does everything need to be reinstalled (in terms of metal covers) for the panel to turn on?
Having a problem with a e500i-A1 vizio 50 inch went out while watching simpsons marathon a few months back got it back on for a while just unplugged the power cord for a min then plugged it back in ..(hard reset) now it's out again and I've looked over the boards both power and main and I do not see anything burnt out or busted ? Would like to hear your opinion on the matter
Erik I have a 50 I mean series vizio smart tv. Under the first year it had a power problem. they fixed it under warranty. 2nd year I'm getting vertical thin green lines that stand out even more in the black. I don't have warranty for it. could it be the motherboard or the circuts?
Hi I have a Visio 65 3D tv that started haveing lines running from top to bottom of right side now there's three of them what do u think is wrong with it ? Thanks for helping people your a good person .Thank you
were back to the old days of plug in boards, my parents had 1976 Quaser tv with plug in boards, I fixed it a few times. it was a hassle i guess for repair shops to stock all those modules.
I have the same model VF552XVT My screen went black but still have sound, the V comes on then fades. Can it be fixed ? Or do you no what may be wrong with it? Thanks again, great video.
My tv is a VIZIO LED 55 tv model number E550i-A0, after a storm, my tv's whole side panel with all the inputs stopped working, and gave me the same as what you said in this video. I could switch from HDMI 1 and 2, but nothing showed on the screen. HDMI 3 and 4 are OK, but they are located on the back of the tv. Nothing on that side panel works. The screen is also fine but there is no sound. When plugged up and when playing a movie or game, the VIZIO word is not lit up at all and I do remember it being lit up when I first bought it. I can still get movies and games to play through those back HDMI ports 3 and 4. I have thought that it might be the control board, but the tv also will shut itself off when there is nothing playing on the screen and in the beginning of movies, IT doesn't really turn off, but the screen goes black, like it needs to gather enough power over time for it to stay on because once a movie is actually playing, it doesn't shut off. Do you think I might need to get a board and a power supply or just try the board first? I don't want to buy something I don't need, but this happened before I even had the tv for an entire year and Sam's (where I purchased) wouldn't replace it because they said they no longer had the model number and vizio wouldn't do anything for me. I have shotty electrical work done (I rent) and am currently using a battery backup surge protector to plug all my appliances in to. Please get back to me at your own convenience, I don't want to spent 800.00 on another tv just to have it for under a year. :/
Hi Erik, thanks for the video! I have a Vizio 50" LED 3D Smart TV, model number - M501d-A2R... that's a vertical purple line on the left side on the screen, just won't go away no matter what output I switch... any advice? Thank you in advance!
Good Job! Couple questions: how much was that main board tor this TV?? And,...how long is enough for taking power off time to let caps discharge??? Is 15 min plenty even for 60 inch or bigger TVs?? Thanks, youtheman=)
Have the same model and suspect the main board. The audio seems to have a glitch or fumble towards the end of the board part #365500320150, sounds like you said H or 4H, but it's not clear?
I get the amber orange color but the t.v won't turn on no matter how many times i press the power button? Do you think it's the power supply or the main board?
Hi there: I have that same TV and 3 days ago it turned it self off while having the logo light still on. I believe it has to do with power since the relay switch clicks constantly and now after a while it turns of it self. Can you help me?
Thank you for this video, the problem with my vizio 45" LCD is that when I turn it on the picture only shows on half part of the screen, is there a way to reset this? thanks
Hey Eric I have the exact same TV when I turn it on the orange light turns to white and the start up vizio screen comes on and stays on the vizio start up screen and I'm not able to do anything else with it and I have to unplug it and try again. Sometimes it will come on no problem and other times it may take a day to come on properly. Any advice on what this problem may be
I need to know how to get the TV apart to get to all the electronics. I can't seem to take the back or the frame off of my Vizio TV. I removed all the screws and can loosen the two sides of the monitor, but the top and the bottom are stuck and/or held on by something that I can't see. I've tried everything I can think of to take it apart, but I also know it's made of cheap plastic and will break with much force. I've seen several videos on how to fix these TVs, but none that show/tell you how to get inside of them. My model is a E321ME...which is different then all the videos I've seen...so maybe my TV is trickier somehow. It's super frustrating.
Hey Eric. I have a 55" Vizio model E550VL. Both my HDMI ports one and two stopped working. Only HDMI side works. Not sure where to go from here to which part I need. Thanks
I have vizio E550i-A0 can you please help to find lcd screen part number and where to order because my screen cracked I want to replace and I dont know the part number please help me thank you

I have VF551XVT 55 in. At times it works oK.then the picture fades out and if turned off for a while it'll get back to normal. The sound continues to stay on...so the only thing that goes out is the video. Please help out.

Ever had this problem: Vizio E550VL: Sound will not work on HDMI(does in other input types AV/RCA) tried other cables and different input devices; blueray, xbox and adjusted tv settings
Hi. I have a Vizio 55 inch LED TV model # 552XVT which keeps shutting itself off. We purchased it in 2011. Over the course of a movie it will shut off about 6 or 7 times -- First at about the 45 minute mark, then the interval gets shorter. This issue is worse when using dvd player and xbox then when watching tv. Any suggestions on what may be the source of the problem?
Sounds like something is getting hot maybe. It's probably in the power supply. Running the DVD or xbox makes the processor work harder then cable TV. Unless it comes from a cable box via HDMI. I suspect power supply board. Look around on it for popped up capacitors. They look like little barrels or soda cans. They should all have a very flat top. if any are rounded they need to be replaced. Also check solder joints on bottom of board.
If the audio works and the vizio light stays on, but the screen is black, then I would look for the boards that connect to the lights. They are usually on the side. I mention them in the video I think. Replaceing them may work. Make sure the power supply is ok like I did in the video.
+Fabian Jimenez Hi Fabian I have a XVT3D650SV also. What ever became of your issue with your TV? I lost the backlights, but TV turns on and audio are okay. PCBs are hard to get for this model. Can you tell me what you did? Thanks Marty
+Fabian Jimenez I forgot to mention that I do not get the boot up screen with the "V" but after the TV initializes setup the audio does start up. Need a supplier for T-Conn, Main board and LED driver brd.
My remote control dont mach with tv, but the remote control working, i try all manual say, but the problem continue, im prety sure is the tv problem, please can you help me
Hi there, same model tv. When I plug it in, all that happens is the Vizio symbol turns amber/orange. No picture on tv, nothing. Is this a power board failure? I've checked to see if any capacitors are out and such but nothing. Any way I can test this without checking the voltage?
If it runs for a while and shuts down it could be an overheating issue, or bad capacitors (they tend to act funny when they go bad and get hot). I would check the power out, labeled 12V, or 5V, etc and make sure they are what they are labeled. BUT, the power supply board is prolly a good guess. It's hard to say. If you see any poped up caps, you might just get by by replacing them.
Michelle Novotny It could be getting hot. That one's tricky. try unplugging the wires from the power supply board that go to the lights. They will be bigger, not a ribbon cable. See if it will stay on then.
***** my tv is doing a similar thing when I first turn it on the screen starts flashing on & off constantly & can hear a ticking like noise each time it flashes. Any idea what it would be
Power Supply Board is most likely broken on my VF551XVT... the cheapest i can find them is around $90. Yeah, i'd rather buy a brand new tv with a warranty, lol.
I have a Vizio xvt553sv TV. It has a color issue with flashing red colors around areas of the screen, this seems to mostly go away after it's been on for 10+ minutes. I've read this model has problems with the main board and the t-con board. I think my issues relate to the t-con board, however, I don't want to spend $75 on that and find out I also need to replace the main board for another $150. Anyone have this TV with similar issues?
