Dear Trinity, just pause every movement and repeat by yourself without pressure of keeping on.
I just started in a beginner class. It’s not easy for anyone.
Exercising and re-doing the moves at home is a true blessing from Kathryn 😍😍😍

Honestly there is a slow paced class called absolute beginner ballet class and she really takes her time to show u all the positions, and basic movements of ballet. You should definitely try it if you are finding this class difficult.

This is technically not a beginner's class, some steps are quite advanced; I wouldn't expect a pure beginner to be able to execute them - it takes a lot of practice. Don't be too hard on yourself.

    Hey Kathryn,
I wanna thank you for your videos. They're incredibly helpful and inspiring!
I've been dancing since I was 3 (for 13 years now) but I had to temporarily quit due to a stroke. Now I'm diagnosed with a disability called hemiparesis but I'm not giving up. I've been professionally dancing on pointe before and I have to restart from zero again but I'm gonna keep going and your content is helping me to do so. Thank you so much!

I very much appreciate your beautiful technique. You and I are very fortunate that we do not have much hyper-extension. As a very seasoned dancer (58 years) and dance teacher (42 years), I discovered a solution for dancers who have hyper-extended knees: always lift your lower abdominal muscles upward, reach your heels down into the ground, and lift upward on your thigh muscles when you "straighten" your knees and when you return your working leg to a standing position. You cannot hyper-extend. It is worth retraining your muscles to avoid injury.

wow that's incredible good, I'm a total beginner in ballet but I'm an acrobat so I'm pretty felxible. Sometimes it's a little fast to understand the skills but I'm super excited to keep on doing beginner classes form you!
    Thank you so much

This was a great class! I haven't taken a ballet class in 40 years, and I was scared to come back to it after so much time off. But I was surprised at how much I remembered, and Kathryn's teaching style is wonderful. She does an amazing job of breaking everything down, and the pace is perfect. I wish I'd had teachers this good when I was studying way back when. I'm going to keep going and aim for balancing in coupe without grasping the barre :-( Seriously, if you ever offer a Zoom class in real time I'm totally down for it! Thank you! Loved the class!

I started doing your classes last week and I love it. You explain so well and are an Amazing Ballerina. Thank You for sharing these. It s great to still be able to dance as my country is still confining us.

For beginners out there - if you notice that the timing is inconsistent or arm movements change to something slightly different on the other side - stuff like that - be aware that it is common for an artist to change things slightly here and there according to how the music feels. When you are first beginning it is best that you not do this. It's best to pick one way, and do the whole exercise that way, even if the teacher does not. This will help you when you are first starting out. Later you will find yourself changing it yourself - which is fine, once you have learned each way and have conscious control over the changes you are making!
