The parallels between Maria in episode 4 of season 2 of Nocture to Carmilla in episode 2 of season 4 of the OG Castlevania is so well written. Maria's breaking point scene has been my favorite scene so far.
They surely did put a lot of effort in animating Maria's hair and facial expressions in these eps, even the Abbot expressions look insane! Sooo much better than season 1.
The Animators are Powerhouse Animation. And you ain't seen anything yet, episodes 7 and 8 are straight fire, truly amazing. Also the glass/Liquid lady is a "Frozen Shade" from the castlevania game symphony of the night.
WOW. Remember Carmila ffrom OG castlevania? Who had issues with "OLD MEN". Well she'd be proud watching Maria😂. Also There's a theme about 'Stupid Old Man' throughout the series and Maria stating it in her dialogue here makes it lot better : In s1 we had the 'OLD' priest who accused Dracula's wife being a witch and burnt her leading to mass genocide of Wallachia. In S2 dracula in His sorrow and anger BECAME THE STUPID OLD MAN. In S3 We had two priests again Sala and The Judge both whom were stupid and disgusting (As sala ended up sacrificing the souls of the families of whole village to that creature of infinite corridor and The Judge was a serial child killer (who had a spike trap near his apple tree and used to keep kids' shoes as his own trophies in that locked room which trevor opened before burning the house) Then in S4 it was Carmila & Saint Germain. Saint Germain again stupid and Old who got easily manipulated by Death and brought it in the real world whereas carmila was literally behaving like an ambitious old lady. In Nocturne it was Abbot's Job to fulfil this role LMAO.
The artwork in castlevania is always great. The facial shots this season might be the best in all animation this year. They're most def winnning best hair animation.
14:10 For anyone out there who wants a bit of knowledge and doesn’t already know: Erszébet is based on a real person-Elisabeth Báthory, a Hungarian countess who purportedly tortured and murdered hundreds of young women in the 16th and 17th centuries. She earned the name "Countess of Blood" because she allegedly drank and bathed in the blood of 650-always virgin-girls to keep herself young. She often took girls from the poor villages nearby, promising their families that she was doing so to teach them the royal ways, as she intended to inherit them the castle where she lived-Nádasdy Castle, in Sárvár, Hungary (a real place). Of course, all of this was a lie. She is considered the most prolific female serial killer of all time.
I dont think some man serial killers are doing those numbers either. I mean, unfortunately i know that there are some crazy bastards in history (Dracula is actually based on someone kinda like that too), but even then... they way she killed and the reason... even the real life counter part of Dracula had the "justification" that he was leader doing the difficult decisions needed to protect his people in a time of strife, still monstrous, but there are account that he wasn't simply a monster for the pleasure, but what Bathory did... monstrous feel short to describe it.
24:49 Fun fact, the Mona Lisa did not become famous until the early 1900s after it was stolen and brought back. Before that, it really could have been considered one of Leonardo's less known works.
Maria has the potential to be the most powerful dark magic users in the verse and thats why old man coyote needs her to open the gate to the orherside and let him in.
I watched it in Japanese dub. Alucard's voice actor is Urahara's, he's done a fantastic job. And now I watch along in English dub with you. I've got to say that the English dub cast is so good, all of them, a rarity for animated series like this. Maybe just Marvel and DC animated series and movies get this treatment.
episode 4 where maria brought forth the dragon which is from the game adaptation, rondo of blood I'm glad you've watched how Juste Belmont awaken his power to save maria Castlevania Nocturne is animated by Powerhouse Animation Studios
15:34 Good fuckin god NO IT IS NOT SATAN….he ain’t even a concept in our roots 😂😂😂 the Ancestral plane that’s giving Black Panther vibes? Yeah that’s not a new concept idea that is culturally 10k+ years foretold. Just wanted to note
@@JarJarB09 Not necessarily cause Nocturne has it’s own self contained story but in my opinion for a better understanding of the show and some Easter eggs and characters brought in from the OG Castlevania into this show I’d recommend you watch the original😁
I'm probably grasping, but, the dialog about Fire and Ice and the night being full of horror, directed at Juste (Iain Glen) is surely a nod to his role in Game of Thrones?

Love the detail of juste taking out terra’s hands, so she couldn’t cast a her spells. Honestly they killed it this season.
