Prince was a big Batman fan too. The old Batman theme song was the first song he learned on piano at age 7. 💜 There’s also a car show in Chanhassen out by Prince’s studio every Saturday, and he tweeted a picture once of a guy sitting at the stoplight by Paisley Park driving a bat-mobile. Prince said he wanted that car since age 6, but the guy wouldn’t sell it. 😂😭😭 Anyway…Tim Burton asked Prince to do one song for the movie, and P came back with a whole album. And of course he needed his own character! The half Batman half Joker persona is called Gemini. 💜♊️ Prince was a one-of-a-kind dude, for sure.
The It movie that came out a few years back had this Batman movie up on the marquee at the theater in the town they lived in. I remember going to see that movie with some coworkers, and I was like, “Hey!! That’s Prince’s batman!” And they all shushed me. 😂😂😂🤷🏻♀️
isn't there only 3 songs in it, The Future, Lemon Crush and Partyman? prince should have been in charge for the whole soundtrack, danny elfman's compositions work but they clash with prince's songs imo, and prince's sound fits the atmosphere I think better

I was 12 when i went to see Batman that year and i later saw this video for this song shortly after that on VH1...ive never stop playing it since then and that was 35 years ago. The soundtrack was absolute fire!!
Heard the reason Tim Burton tapped Prince to create the soundtrack for the movie was largely due to Jack Nicholson, who played Joker in the movie was a huge Prince fan and wanted him to do it. The whole album is just so good, Partyman & Electric Chair are a must listen
PRINCE is the absolute GOAT. Nothing we all say here can do this man justice. Very very sadly missed with the way the music industry is today but we still have a bucket load of his music to go through & enjoy. FYI > check out the just released new Super Deluxe edition of "Diamonds & Pearls"....remarkable...still kills anything released today.
MTV had this video on heavy rotation in the summer of 1989. I also had the soundtrack & during this cut I always loved the transition to the whole Vicki Vale/Electric Chair part. So funky! Have you not seen the 1989 Batman with Michael Keaton, Jack Nicholson & Kim Basinger?? As a Batman fan you've GOT to see it.👀🦇💙
Since 1980, the one tiny androgynous man in high heels, lace and makeup that could steal ANY man’s woman. ANY time! God, I loved him so much. I still tear up over the loss of him too young.
Love all Prince reviews, glad the music is still here. The performance of "The Cross" live in Dortmund is one of my faves, for some reason not too many have seen this...check it out, you'll love it. With Shiela E Killin the drums...💜
Warner Brothers wanted 4 or 5 songs. 2 week later he came back with 30. They used 5 i believe and he released an album with 12 more. A great album. Party man and Electric chair are impressive.
yes it's up there with Antrap by Adam & the Ants lol I'm a Prince fan and this song just overwhelmed me for several years, didn't get it... and then it clicked and I absolutely adore it now
Dope reaction. This was Tim Burton s batman, 1989. The original concept was going to be George Michael write love songs, Michael Jackson write the batman songs, prince do the joker. Then Tim Burton wanted one song for prince, he did a full album. It's a few prince songs featured in batdance, those are "the future", "electric chair" " we got the power" and dance w the devil, so basically it's prince sampling his own music
Every kid my age when this came out just went crazy every time this song came on and In every elementary school kids used the quote “act your age, not your shoe size” from it. Dang! The nostalgia
@@tiffanyeyoung1800 no he didn't because this movie had two soundtracks, one done by Danny Elfman and the other one is Prince's... I just say that cause I was really disappointed when I watched the movie when I heard 'string music' I was like 'wait up, that ain't no Prince song!!'. I thought it would have been so cool having him give a funky flavor to a batman movie, that would have brought some fresh air to the brand. the classcial stuff really mellows everything honestly
Loved this reaction! This is from the soundtrack that Prince did for Tim Burton's Batman movie in 1989! If you liked this, you should definitely watch "Partyman" from Prince! It is also a Batman themed video that follows a classic Batman storyline with Prince as the Joker/Two Face. Also, please watch the full extended version. The shorter one doesn't give the full effect of the piece! Great vid! Subscribed!!!
The 1989 Batman soundtrack goes hard. I love the whole album but my favs are Scandelous, The Future, and Electric Chair. Most of the songs do appear in the movie. The most notable ones are Partyman (the scene where the Joker crashes the museum) and Trust (The parade scene)
It was impossible to find this song on you tube until now. I had been looking for a few years. I supposed after he passed away? It’s here now. This song was on the soundtrack to The movie/ It played on the radio constantly in the late 80s early 90s . when the movie was released. This song is a huge part of my early adolescent years. I remember we played it at our girl/boy parties .
“DON’T HURT EM PRINCE!” - Brother, you are Priceless! ✨ Witnessing your precious reaction is PRICELESS! - and here I was just trying to recoup some memories. Thank you for this.
this was epic 80's music, and as popular as he was, he was truly an unsung hero of the music world. Prince was a Genius on so many levels. in this song you can hear the the Iconic Sound of his band, 'Prince and the Revolution', you can hear the Musical Influence of 'Art of Noise', Hip Hop influences all mashed into clips from Michael Keatons version of Batman with Jack Nicholson as Joker. this song has been hard to veiw on RUclips because someone is seriously enforcing Copyrights on it. this was a song that Prince literally threw together and it was a hit, complimented the Movie very well, and was all over Mtv and Radio Station playlists. i personally equate this Song to Ghostbusters, made for a Movie, lighthearted, fans loved it. epic 80s hit !
Great reaction... Prince will blow your mind every time! For a real tasty treat, react to Prince on SNL performing "Electric Chair" from this Batman soundtrack! BTW Prince choreographed all the dance sequences for this video... ❤
This Batman video really captured the theme of the Batman movie perfectly. Prince was playing the character Gemini. Two sides. If you had seen the 1989 movie and watched the credits at the beginning is says music by prince; and you hear his songs trust and party man in the movie with scandalous song over the end credits.
Theives in the temple, was on that batman soundtrack. He did the music for the whole movie. I went to see that specific batman just because of prince. I had the full cassette of the soundtrack for the movie. I've been a huge prince fan since the beginning. I sat in my mom's back seat of her car singing I want to be your lover with the radio, so young I had no idea what the song meant but singing my heart out. I've been to 5 of his concerts, one in Germany. I miss him so much. He's a true legend.
Prince also loved to put some odd easter eggs in his songs : just after he's talking about "putting that 7 inch on the computer" the "ah ah ah" drone voice is a nod to Laurie Anderson's song "O Superman"... still a DC Comics character, tho!
The combo of Tim Burton directing, Michael Keaton as Batman, Danny Elfman of Oingo Boingo doing the score, and Prince with the songs - the 1989 Batman movie is a match made in Heaven. Jack Nicholson is amazing as The Joker, too. I prefer Electric Chair off this album, but this song is a mashup of all the other songs on the album/movie.
Just to add a bit more color, in real life Prince got the girl. Kim Basinger got on a plane and moved to Minneapolis after shooting wrapped. You can hear her moaning on the Scandalous suite.
Omg… the Vicki Vale part of the song 😂 and I never realized he said I want to bust that body... And he did. I’m dying now that I’m re- listening to this as an adult 😂
It's on the Soundtrack CD, yeah "CD", LOL The guitar solo, the Hip Hop beats afterwards, the EDM, this whole video is indicative of the internal conflict and chaos that happens between Batman and the Joker.

Go back and watch that film and this time listen closely to the music and you’ll hear those songs. When I was a little kid I remember being in the CD section all the time and seeing that “Batman” soundtrack but I didn’t realize until I was teenager that it was a Prince album because he wasn’t featured on the cover. It was just the Batman logo. P.S. He was also dating Kim Basenger who was playing Vicki Vale at the time. If you listen to “Scandalous” you can hear this moaning in the background. Rumor has it that it was actual sounds of she and Prince getting it on in the studio.
Young man I can't believe that you have never seen this video "Batdance" from the Batman soundtrack before. Micheal Keaton played batman, and Jack Nicolas played the joker.
