I'm so upset that they rushed and fumbled Wanda's arc with MoM, both her and Loki have been my favorites for the newer content at least. I'm very satisfied with this ending!
its crazy in the last episode loki was saying he just wants is friends and doesn't want to be alone, only for him to make the ultimate sacrifice being all alone at the end of time so everyone else can live.
You may be badass... But you will never be "Loki physically yanking an infinity of timelines into the shape of Yggdrasil to save the multiverse" badass.
Thor said “you will always be the God of Mischief, but you could be so much more”. And now he is the God of Time. But none of Loki’s friends or family in Asgard will ever know. We’ve watched Loki develop from the man claiming to be ‘burdened with glorious purpose’, into a man forced to accept the terrible burden of his glorious purpose.

I read a comment somewhere that said something very valuable: loki was presented with the trolly problem and he found that the solution was destroying the trolly itself. Such a loki think to do.
Spending centuries to learn for naught, giving up your desires, leaving behind your friends - all for putting what can be called a stopgap at best in place that relies on you weaving the strands of Time for the entire (!) Multiverse for all of eternity. And you willingly going through of all of that to benefit every being who ever lived. What a character arc. Tom Hiddleston's finest hour!
As soon as Loki said he knew what kind of god he wanted to be, I knew exactly what they were doing. He is now the God of Stories. Finally, Loki is a king, but for the right reasons.
I've seen a few fanboys complain that he's something different, simply because apparently the God of Stories is...quite unrelated to what we've gotten here. But, after looking up that plot in the comics, I'm much happier with this. That whole God of Stories thing in the comics is just...really really stupid. This is a much more interesting, and much more coherent plot. And in the end, it's way more epic. I definitely prefer this, by far.
@@DoremiFasolatido1979One guy I watch said that Loki is probably supposed to be someone called "the custodian" (probably misremembering his name) who's sole purpose is to make sure that a multiverse doesn't die before it's actual time or something.
It definitely felt doctor who at the start. Especially when they started with the Beethoven just like the bootstrap paradox in 12’s episode. There were a number of nods to doctor who in this season Loki made the hard choice to love. Love for his friends without benefit to himself. A god who sacrificed himself for love of his friends. Wonderful. And Loki used his free will to do it. Defeated kang with love, not a sword.
I paused my screen to look at the second edition of the manual and I am pretty sure it said it was written by Oroborus and Victor Timely. I thought that was a nice tribute. What you said about Loki choosing choice Q instead of A or B just reminded me of Q from Star Trek, who was the Loki of that universe. I just couldn’t stop my tears when Loki started walking outside. At first I wasn’t sure what kind of sacrifice he was going to make but I knew it was something. When he started weaving a new loom around himself and made it into Yggdrasil I found it so sad and moving that he was going to be all alone when he had just realized how much he wanted to have his friends around. 😭 I love Loki and I think they created a great character arc for him.
Note, Loki doesn't grab *all* the timelines. He grabs one at the start, lets it go, and leaves it. He's reading them with Sylvie's enchantment magic, and keeping the ones that aren't dangerous. That's the compromise. The multiverse can exist, but someone has to watch over the possibilities and govern which are allowed.
Wowsers! An amazing dress for an amazing finale Jess! When Mobius says they handled it in 616... oooh, the certainly did! That transformation as he walked towards the throne was amazing! I thought it was killing him but then I saw the cape and realised he was changing into the god he had to be, the king of all time! This was a magnificent show and Loki's arc astounding!
Fantastic finale to the show. Loki got his glorious purpose and the throne he was looking for, just not in the way he thought and he did it for others instead of himself. Also love your choice of dress for the finale perfect.
About a week ago for the first time it occurred to me that Loki's name is similar to 'loci' in mathematics, the set of points that satisfies a particular condition. Now he really has become a locus at the heart of everything. (Also just learned that in the non-Marvel mythology, Loki is considered the cause of knots, loops and tangles, and is sometimes thought of as a knot or tangle in his own right. So this finale is a very clever way to pay some respect to the actual mythological Loki.)
16:37 this whole show feels like it’s inspired by Doctor who, such as sylvie stealing a tempad and running away from the TVA in s1 and the coat that Loki had for most of the show. Part of why I love it so much, I hope maybe Tom hiddleston can play the Doctor one day (or maybe the master, he fits both roles tbh and this show just proved it). With the big guest stars coming in doctor who’s next season I’d say it’s definitely a possibility. In a sense I kinda feel like this finale was Loki’s “Heaven sent” and “hell bent”. “Heaven Sent” in the sense that Loki spent centuries trying to save everyone and failing over and over again (similar to the Doctor breaking the wall) and “hell bent” in the sense that a sacrifice had to be made ultimately for everyone to be safe (similar to how the doctor’s memories of Clara had to be sacrificed). What a finale… the more I think about it and Loki’s sacrifice the more emotional I get.
Everyone's talking about Loki's character arc; all true, all good. I love how, at the end of season one He Who Remains didn't seem as villainous as he does here! In season one he felt like a guy who grew tired of his existence. Now we see he was playing the longest game possible! That's a major villain!!
I love that Tom Huddleston was the one who wrote his final line and that he used a part of his line from end of the 1st Thor movie. "For you, for all of us". The 1st movie's line is from a character filled with so much sadness, shame, anger and needing of others recognition and love. The last one is filled with warmth, love and a duty and purpose devoid of recognition (besides from those that meant the world to him). It is the perfect way to encapsulate one of the best character arcs in the MCU right up there with Tony Stark.
The fact that He Who Remains foresaw (or actually wrote) what was going to happen tells us that Sylvie was finally right at the end of season 1, when she said that he should not be trusted and that everything he told them was just one more of his lies... I mean, that's why she was frustrated with Loki during the beginning of this season, she was still resentful that he hadn't been able to visualize it the same way she did, I remember she asking him "why aren't we seeing this the same way?" and it was heartbreaking but I'm glad they reached an understanding at the end 💚
The magnitude of what Loki did is insane and has immense repercussions for the mcu. I don't think at this point there's any character more powerful than loki. He turned into something from the comics that I only WISHED to see in the mcu, he became the god of stories but then became something MORE, he became Atlas, he's quite literally holding the mcu, if they were smart they'd use this but I seriously doubt it. As bittersweet as this was, this was such a fitting end for him. Obsessed. Incredibly proud. I wish Frigga and Thor could see him now.
"I am Loki of Asgard and I am burdened with glorious purpose" That he is. He had to go through the journey and learn to care for someone other than himself to get to that place, but he's there. And now he sits on the throne of time. Such an amazing episode. And that score has been properly added to my Spotify playlist. Natalie Holt's genius is going to live rent free in my head.
Welcome back Queen! Your glam look was the perfect compliment to this stunning season (hopefully series) finale. This was a perfect ending to Loki’s story arc. This is Marvel at their best.
Loki has become the most important being in the entire MCU now, holding it together at the very center of "Yggdrasil" as the God of Stories. GOD I LOVE LOKI, he's my favourite Character. His Brother, his Father and Mother and his "Sacred" Self would be so proud.
Honestly, what is time if not an illusion? Loki is now seated at the End of Time, crafting an eternal trick on every timeline, on all people, for all time. Always. The epitome of a trickster god.
As a norse mythology girlie, watching Loki of all people sacrifice everything to become the core of a multiversal Yggdrasill was wonderful. Genuinely one of my favorite marvel projects to date, especially with Natalie Holt's wonderful score.
This follows in line with the story of Loki in the comics.. Loki is no longer the God of Mischief, he was reborn the God of Stories.. Loki’s true purpose is the never ending story that always has a beginning and end.. like the Ouroboros a snake eating it’s own tail.. once the head (beginning) meets its tail (end).. the cycle starts over.

@@TheChi9ski I agree that she's at the "end of time" but I was speaking more from a comics history - she will become Kang's great love and that pyramid was no coincidence.
