My interpretation of the goo / xenomorph life cycle: The Engineers colonize the planet from Covenant. They discover the spores, which -- as I recall -- produce a grey proto-xenomorph in only two steps (host, xeno). As I've seen others point out, though, several people are exposed to the spores and only one gets implanted. So while the spores produce a (near) perfect organism, they don't have a very high "reliability" rate. The Engineers turn the spores into the black goo, which has higher reliabilty -- it does SOMETHING to just about everyone / everything it's exposed to -- but takes a long and improbable number of steps to produce a xeno. (Host 1 has sex with Host 2, impregnating her with a liveborn proto-facehugger, which must then implant yet a third host.) David refines this process to create the xeno's we know and love. Though it doesn't actually reduce the number of steps -- egg, facehugger, host, xeno -- everyone the facehuggers latch onto is implanted with a xeno, and there's only one host required.

16:25 i don't think these were real engineers. I think they were just another creation of them. Because they looked at the ship like they saw face of God.
I wasn't the biggest fan of Prometheus, but I appreciated what they tried to achieve. People were so upset there were no Alien xenomorphs, but an alien prequel with 'more Aliens' was such a predictable option🥱, I'm so glad it wasnt that! Shaw was probably 1 of the best things in Prometheus, they managed to create a new strong female lead that compared favourably against Ripley and they killed her off for the sequel! Personally i wasn't fussed about a sequel, I don't mind endings that leave what happens next to the viewers imagination AND i knew they'd Fcuk it up! I didn't even watch all of Alien Covenant, i switched off half way through realising this was just another 'Alien' movie, badly done. Silver lining is Covenant makes Alien 3 look like a masterpiece, watched it over Xmas holidays and rather enjoyed it! 😂
@nostalgiaclive theres been so many, but is that the one with a pyramid in the ice cap? And with a human Bishop? I think I watched abt 20 mins and turned off can't remember specifically why. Might be worth a revisit just to see how bad it actually was lol
I would not blame RS that much thought. He is a studio's man and the abrupt changes were most likely demanded by the new Execs at Fox to distance themselves from the previous teams project. What they did to Noomi Rapace was indeed very $#itty and for me personally made me not care for neither Daniels nor Rain.
I'm not sure who to blame, but Fox is probably a safe bet. I would imagine Ridley didn't fight at all though, he just wanted to keep the franchise going.
@@nostalgiaclive Ridley never fights with studios and he produces good looking movies efficiently and under/on budget. He is a studio's man and that's about it.
Although I appreciate your Prometheus 2 premise and mos def think it's a better story than that garbage Covenant, it's all moot for me. And that's because I've trained by brain to ignore the existence of the sequels altogether. And even though Prometheus is a good film on a technical level, it's bad story-telling, so I ignore that too. Anyways, good video.
Errrrmmmmmmmmmah- I hate to be that guy but the people David kills with the canisters of goo are not the engineers. “We set course for their home world.” -Alien Covenant: The Crossing Though Ridley Scott sort of implied they were a different species, I think it just goes to show that his senile comments in interviews can’t be trusted 😆 Upon reviewing it though, he said “the engineers would arrive back on THEIR planet to see that it had been decimated.”
@@nostalgiaclive hahahaha it never fails. The planet is paradise, yah? Like Eden. The engineers are creators. Gods. The people on paradise are their creation. It’s ‘their’ planet. Their Petri dish. But the race of Adams and Eves aren’t the same as them. They clearly return there often enough, judging by the reaction of the crowd. The engineers must not hate this creation like they do humans. That’s the jist of my view, anyway. Now go on, kid, get outta here ya bother me.
That part I could believe, but how about him saying they set a course for their home world? The way I see it, the engineers were the same species but evolved independently from those on Paradise. The survivor and corpse had been preserved for theoretically thousands of years. And maybe they were so pale because of their moonbound obsession with goo… they clearly don’t get out much.
I thought Covenant was the worst in the franchise. Even worse than Alien Resurrection. Resurrection was a dumpster fire, but at least it took some big swings as far as direction and world building went. They definitely were not all home runs, but the effort was there. With this one, it just felt like an even shittier verson of Prometheus. Like Ridley Scott told everyone on the set "We're gonna do it again, same as before. But this time, were going to double the amount of Fassbender and give everyone frontal lobe lobotomies. Aaand ACTION!"
Agreed. I think both movies have good and bad stuff in them, but Covenant killed the series whereas with Resurrection it was already dead and they just played with the corpse.

@@nostalgiaclive Just hated everything else... I'm not a film critic at all, I leave that to you... :)
I would have liked a Prometheus style movie for the third one, but without the goo thing... I liked the philosophical/religious aspect in the conversations between Shaw and her partner (I forgot his name) and with David but the other ideas about the engineers meddling in human evolution or sending an "emissary" in Jesus Christ is just so stupid I always roll my eyes...
The fourth one is the worse for me, completely useless and uninteresting. Covenant and Romulus are forgettable and not good as well, I don't even know if I have a preference for one over the other. I think Prometheus had more potential... And fu@k Scott for probably imposing to insert his goo sh!t in Romulus as well. I don't even remember exactly all those movies, except the first two maybe...
I don't know. It's all a waste. They should just stop. They could have understood that after the third one at least... Or maybe do Prometheus after that failure. I think It's FUBAR honestly. It's fine, I suppose there will always be an audience for it, included myself because I will watch the future movies just out of curiosity, to see all the ways they will fu@k it up even more...
Oh and the Predator vs Alien movies really are the bottom of the barrel. I don't remember them at all, I just that I have a faint memory stored in my brain telling me they were awful and to never watch them again.

16:25 i don't think these were real engineers. I think they were just another creation of them. Because they looked at the ship like they saw face of God.
I actually found this earlier today from the prologue: David says “We set course for their home world.”
Try analyzing the “Megalopolis” 😂
Hahaa couldn’t agree more!
How bout AVP though? 🙄
@nostalgiaclive theres been so many, but is that the one with a pyramid in the ice cap? And with a human Bishop? I think I watched abt 20 mins and turned off can't remember specifically why. Might be worth a revisit just to see how bad it actually was lol
@@ozstriker4075 Could be AVP or Disney's Frozen.
It's pretty inoffensive. Nothing super good but nothing as bad as the worst parts of the real movies.
@nostalgiaclive Frozen 🤣
FF8 great taste lol
😉
im tired of pretending its not a good movie
I’d love to hear your positive take (earnestly, not a trap lol). It absolutely has great scenes, I don’t deny that for a second.
Ohhhhh! So David is Jesus Christ?
Wait, maybe I missed something.
All I want to know is who is Jesus Christ in this film?
He’s gotta be somebody!
@@red0guy Truth be that
After watching this I want to play FF8 for some reason.. 😌
😉
Although I appreciate your Prometheus 2 premise and mos def think it's a better story than that garbage Covenant, it's all moot for me. And that's because I've trained by brain to ignore the existence of the sequels altogether. And even though Prometheus is a good film on a technical level, it's bad story-telling, so I ignore that too.
Anyways, good video.
Much appreciated 😌⭐️
Where do you draw the line in the series?
I am confusion
Damn… I feel like you’re supposed to feel the opposite after watching the video 🤔 I must have done it wrong.
You need more attention
Thank you! ⭐️
Pray to the algorithm I guess 🥹
Yeah , Prometheus was acceptable but covenant was worse than alien 3
Prometheus hooked me to Alien franchise even though I know it exists for years.
Covenant is just like the rest.. garbage.
Errrrmmmmmmmmmah- I hate to be that guy but the people David kills with the canisters of goo are not the engineers.
It would have helped massively if they weren’t so similar in appearance but they still aren’t t he engineers. They worship the engineers and are inso probably created by them.
Lock the video and will be subscribingstadings.
Happy New Year.
“We set course for their home world.”
-Alien Covenant: The Crossing
Though Ridley Scott sort of implied they were a different species, I think it just goes to show that his senile comments in interviews can’t be trusted 😆
Upon reviewing it though, he said “the engineers would arrive back on THEIR planet to see that it had been decimated.”
@ … nahhhhhhh.
@@dr.2335 Can’t argue with that!
🥚🦂👱♂️🕷️🤮
Not according to Romulus 🫢
I just went on r/movies to try and get people to come check you out. I hope this'll help getting you more subscribers.
That really means a lot, thank you so much for doing that 🙏🏻☺️⭐️
