- My inspiration's back! Just in time for the four-year anniversary of this channel, jeez. Consider this a sister piece to "Feeling Good" that falls somewhere between "Soldier" and "Handlebars" on the Ironwood-villainy scale. Hope you enjoy!

I love this because although he was for sure wrong HE DID DO IT HIS WAY!!!! He was true to himself and what he believed through it all. He was wrong but I respect him. And this AMV really shows that mindset for me
0:37 This moment in the show has a key unsung detail. James's hand makes a clinking noise when he grabs the mug, like two solid surfaces. It was our first hint of his metal body.
This is an uncannily good villain song.
And the fact that the final beat goes to Winter is kinda chilling. It'll be on her to decide where Atlas goes from here, and she is both very powerful and deeply wounded right now.

Its interesting how this kind of changes the context, you could read it that it makes the song actually kind of sinister, just the idea that for all the horrible things he did, he genuinely still tries to think that he did the right thing or did all he could. And dies with the very thing that led him to do all these things, intense Pride
Or you could read it as him attempting to convince himself he was the hero who did all he could and die proud of himself, before he ultimately realizes that yes, this WAS 'his way', he rejected and ignored everyone else and actively undermined everyone else's efforts as they tried to do the real right thing simply so he could avoid admitting he was wrong. He did this and he caused this. Bitterfully realizing at the end

What a beautiful way to say "I screwed up all on my own."
A lot of people said a lot of things about the last RWBY seasons. In my opinion, Ironwood did everything right, considering what he knew at any given time. Us as viewers, we always had more insight on events than him, and most plans he made, he made them thinking it was the main course of action. Plus, remember: he is based on the Tin Man, which he was doomed to sin by lacking of heart, just like Leo, the Lion, was doomed to sin by lacking of courage.
This was worth the wait - the table-turning of winter on the penultimate “my way”, and ironwood on the last was perfect. But, i can easily see the thought that went into every shot and every cut/effect throughout the entire vid…. This one is a real contender for best vid so far.
On rewatch i now see that opening clearly foreshadows the ending shots that i commented on…. I think the consistency of this vid is a level above.
Requiem for a general. Its very well done in the edits and lining up the idea that maybe this whole bit is Ironwood reflecting on all his choices just before the flood comes in. Fantastic work.
It's always nice to see such a classy classic song get used for modern media.
Ah, General Ironwood... as time has gone on, it still hurts to have seen him fall so far, so fast. This was an incredible work, it really captured the essence of the General, both in his proudest moments and in his most pathetic. It cannot be denied though that he followed his own path, adverse to anyone else's. How you tied Winter into it with the heart-wrenching "I don't know what I would do without you."
Due to my own preferences, I don't see many slow song amvs.
So it's real treat to see one that fits a character (or characters) and focuses more on the poignant beats of a show.

I honestly wouldn’t have ever thought of this song for a RWBY amv but it fits so perfectly, especially for Ironwood!!!

I got chills! Ironwood's path is one of the most interesting and tragic in the whole show, in my opinion, and you really captured that here.
This was truly fantastic. RWBY paired with Frank Sinatra!? Genius! Loved everything about this and the voice overs just added so much more to the video. 😁👍

That said.... This one is one of your finest work to date!!! Only you could have fashioned such a fitting and moving epitaph for the journey of Gen. James Ironwood thru the RWBY series. It hit all the right notes and gave him a farewell so worthy of him!! o7 Good or bad, he did what he believed to the last.... BRILLIANT!!! 😎🙏🌹👏😥
This is such an Ironwood song! Also, I'm not completely sure you take recommendations, but I'd like to recommend "The Sword and the Pen" by Regina Spektor. It just gave me RWBY vibes.

I think that the song Skeltons by First in Flight would work pretty well. The song is about secrets and how they catch up to you.
Still wondering how can you match the scenes with songs so perfectly. That is some serious creativity talent to remember all the scenes and know when to use them.
This is so amazing 🤩. I love the way you use the music and footage together to craft a narrative about the mindset of ironwood (and winter :D). Amvs that tell a story is something I’ve admired and something I hope to do one day!

What editing software do you use? You’re what got me into the idea of making AMVS but my trial for the software I used for my first one has run out and I was wondering what you use
First off, so glad to hear you've gotten interested in editing! I use Adobe Premiere Pro to edit and Adobe After Effects to color -- Premiere does have some basic coloring software, though, so you don't NEED both. I also used iMovie for ALL my videos up through 2020, so it's a) perfectly capable, b) free, and c) a great learning tool that I'd highly recommend starting out on if you have access to it! Good luck :D
I still hate what was done with Ironwood in Volume 8, but this is beautifully done.

I was honestly on his side they didn’t have any ideas on how to get out of the situation they were in until the end when the writer pulled the teleportation and ships out of their ass . Really my least favorite Rwby season really hated the characters except Ironwood
