  • This is a quick video showing the install of my 2 inch budget lift and 1.5 inch wheel spacer install on my 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee. My camera died a couple of times during filming this, but you get to see 90% of the install. A spring compressor and air tools would have made this job MUCH simpler. If I had to do it over, I would have picked up new shocks and struts to install at the same time, as well as grabbed a spring compressor. Let me know your thoughts or comments! This same lift also fits and installs the same on a Jeep Commander.

    And that is exactly why you use a spring compressor. Makes that job a hole lot easier

    Old old old video, but how far did the tires stick out with the spacers?

    • @jbrunsonjr
      @jbrunsonjr  4 года назад

      killthehamster not very far - it would not fling on the windows or side of the Jeep. Was a good fit. Ran it for the last decade , no problems.

    Hi! So it is not necessary to change the rear shocks?

    @odavila78 - Thanks for watching! I ended up putting on 255/75R17 BFG Mud Terrains - they rub a little, so I will have to hammer down the pinch weld on the firewall, but that's no biggie. : )

      I got the same tiers been trying to look for a lift do u recomend 2.5" or 2"

    @ImBatmanBitches - Yeah, the strut plate wasn't the problem. The problem was squishing it down by hand to get them out of the fender edges, and worse yet, getting them back in. Then the upper A arm has bushings that keep them in a certain spot that are impossible to get past also. I say if you do it and it's almost time to replace your struts, buy you some new ones at that time - you won't want to do it twice!

    Awesome vid, brought back a lot of memories. I also flew solo on my install. I also had to do the pinch weld, I didn't right from the start but it seemed backing up was when it would rub, I suppose the springs settled a little bit with time as well.

    @mtedeschi34 - really cheap - only like $300 for the lift and wheel spacers combined, plus about 12 hours work...with a few beer breaks in between...

    Awesome work! Your video skillz are becoming 1337! Wrestling with those springs it looks like you are making love to your Jeep like a contortionist. Wanna come to NoVA and help me put on one? :-)

  • @jbrunsonjr
    @jbrunsonjr  14 лет назад

    @Corby417 - Hey Corby! I would only go for the spacers if you are rubbing your tire on the upper ball joint bolt, otherwise, don't worry about it (which comes with running larger tires). I say at least get the lift, that way if you end up getting a blow out and have to get tires, you'll already be prepped and ready to go. For photos, go to jeepsunlimited and look under screen name "lifted79cj7". Happy Jeeping and let's see yours in action!

  • @jbrunsonjr
    @jbrunsonjr  14 лет назад

    @infiernoboy1 - Not a stupid question at all! To answer you -yes, it will go on the same. It actually might be a little easier on the front end since you won't have to wrestle the strut over a the front half drive shafts actually. I say DO IT!!! :D

    @steven8979 - Thanks Steven! I edited some of the boring stuff out, but overall I am glad I spent the afternoon putting it on. People comment on how much better it looks now. The usual comment is that it "now looks more like a Jeep should". :D

    @Jabbajawz4life - Thanks Jabbari! Just wait until you get a vehicle and you start having to make hard decision between model railroading and car parts! Definitely now enough money to go around!

    @jbrunsonjr Just wondering if you've had to replace the shocks now that you lifted your Jeep? I lifted mine a few years back and about a month or so afterward I ended up replacing all 4 shocks. Great video though, good job.

    @brent210 - Thanks man! I am glad you enjoyed it! I heard that even with spring compressors that it is still a pain in the rear to get the front end apart and back together, though. Good luck and make sure to take some vids of the finished product!!

    • @jbrunsonjr
      @jbrunsonjr  5 лет назад

      I figured out that if you have a friend, undo the bolts that hold the upper A arm in and it will move freely. You will need two people, though, as you need one in the fender and one under the hood.
      Thank you for watching!

    since you have had this spacer lift on for a while has there been any issues? any parts being worn out prematurely

    • @andrewlarcombe9130
      @andrewlarcombe9130 Год назад

      I had the same lift, the upper control arm ball joint is at a unsafe angle and tend to break, also had the strut spring seat rubbing on the stearing knuckle, i pulled it all out and put Old Man Emu struts and JBA upper arms. lost about an inch lift but its correct now no issues
