Seeing Harvey pitch his heart out in that game 5 gave me so much hope that was later dashed in the 9th. The electricity he brought only compared to Jacob deGrom in 2021, at least in my opinion.
Was at that World Series game in the nosebleeds. Even tho they lost in heartbreak like they always do I’ll never forget it. I truly thought I’d never see the Mets in a World Series in my life let alone win one maybe. I appreciate him and Noah for giving their all to the team. However my favorite pitcher on that team was far and away pre cy young DeGrom I just feel like he always pitched well in big moments. Also nice play in CF man lol
Recently found this channel and I was an instant fan. Feels like it falls right in the sweet spot somewhere between Foolish Baseball and Baseball Doesn’t Exist
Dark Knight is a great nickname for a pitcher. Great video on a player I wasn’t familiar with today! One other thing: A video ago, I mentioned how the 91 Brewers came back from 17 games to finish over .500. Well the inverse, the most games over .500 in a season at one point by a team that ended with a losing record: The 1905 Cleveland Naps (what the Guardians were called back then) went from 52-29 to an outright losing record after Nap Lajoie got blood poisoning while sliding into second base. That’s falling off from having been 23 games over .500.
The Harvey's Better chant and that World Series start through 8 innings always give me goosebumps as a lifelong Mets fan. Great video! Even though watching the Duda "throw" to home felt like getting hit by a bus.
Dude is that Song Cry playing in the background? Subtle gold man. Made a similar beat before it got big used to work wit Blaze he got the idea from me but it’s all love man
Fun Fact- In 2009, I get home from a College practice and met a young Matt Harvey at my mailbox. Tired of another party being thrown at my house, we talked baseball a bit and upcoming draft for both of us, gave him my room for the night…then left and stayed at my girlfriends. This was a VERY different Matt Harvey. He was the childhood friend of my nerd roommate who was all-in on North Carolina. Not the future sex symbol ace of NY. Was not surprised to hear that cocaine might’ve played a role ha. He gave NY his ALL…tho, so for that I admire him. Hope he liked my bed.
His downfall was pretty incredible to watch. I remember seeing him pumping 99mph in the 9th inning of a CG shutout back in 2013 or 2014 I believe in Atlanta. Was 100 degrees. Day game. Unhitable. But yeah, the combination of TOS, perhaps his workload and especially the drugs took their toll.
The main thing the drugs did imo is slow or mitigate any buildup he could’ve had after the TOS. If he was clean, eating right, working as hard as possible, maybe he gets back to 95-96 mph, but I don’t think he ever sits high 90s again.
@@AndThatsBaseballso difficult to throw high 90’s naturally that it doesn’t matter what a player does… they won’t be able to throw it long term…. Just not possible for the human body. Now with PEDS it is….
@@AndThatsBaseball Does he even get TOS if he is not partying and doing drugs? I believe his lack of fitness took its toll and led to TOS and then when he came back he had nothing underpinning his future performance. Not mentally or physically to come back from that surgery.
The video says thoracic outlet syndrome did him in, but if the man took care of his body better does he even have that issue? Yes, drugs and his party life ruined his career, no matter how much people want to claim it was injuries.
The thing about Matt Harvey is fans hold these players up to standards no one could live up to. The fans make these players, who after all of are just guys like any other, into statues. Because from the right distance a statue is perfect and invincible, which is what fans demand their favorite players be. They put them on that pedestal because guys like Matt did for a living something that most people would sacrifice everything for just to do for one at bat. And they put them on that pedestal because that means they get to tear them down, and from their heights the fall is so far, and so destructive, and there's nothing left but rubble, then gloat and smugly ask "What Went Wrong?" The answer is us. Every time.
No it's not. This is so bogus it's not funny. You don't have to live up to any ridiculous standards to not do lines of coke in the locker room. You don't have live up to any standards to not facilitate murdering someone with opioids. New York didn't do anything to him, he was just always an asshole that pitched pretty well

Mets fans tend to focus on the positive rather than getting hung up on past failures, that’s why most people don’t even remember 2007/08
