He was my second. Piazza my guy. David the only one who ever came close. If Pete signs for long term, he may be added. But, nobody will ever touch the other two. In history, you must surely add Seaver. Ha.
I remember they had this Best Met @ every position presentation and this is before his big contract and he was being interviewed and when asked about his contract situation he said, "I'm a Met." He got my undying approval since. ❤
Certainly after his first five seasons; if Dubs’ career had STARTED circa 2017-18, he would almost certainly be a $300-350mm+ guy this offseason or going into next. Even his 2009 looks better in hindsight. And while the original Citi Field dimensions took away a ton of HRs, it also added a ton of hits, as David-who was a high BABIP guy anyway-had a .390 BABIP in 2009. Problem was the strikeouts went up, particularly after he got hit in the head by Matt Cain. But his 2012 and 2013 seasons were as good as his 2004-2008, and he was still great in 2015 even though he missed most of the season and was hurting the whole time. Dubs’ pure bat-to-ball skills were so good that in 2016, he decided to swing out of his shoes, accepting strikeouts for barrels and thus extra-base hits (much like Joey Votto did in 2021), and it worked until he went down for good.
David wright was my first favorite player when i started watching in 2008. Magical how it feels so at home to have him on SNY
He was my second.

Ha.
Started watching Mets late 2008. Wright is my favorite Met as well.
2008 was also my first full season following baseball and the Mets specifically. Assuming you guys are in your mid to late twenties like me.
David Wright is just a solid, solid dude. Wish him the best.
Always a pleasure getting to enjoy a GKR interview with the captain.
I would love to have Wright back working with the team every season working with younger players to help mold and develop them for third base.

It was your fault
If my sources are correct, the Mets have 80 scouts.
