  • This week, the topic is physics, a subject the guys are more than qualified to discuss. Nate, Brian, Aaron, and Dusty break down Newton's three laws of mechanics, debate whether a hammer and a feather will hit the ground at the same time on the moon, and attempt a science experiment that goes about as well as you'd expect.

One of the bigger arguments my husband and I have gotten in has to do with how he believes the "midwest" was named incorrectly and what the geographical areas in the United States should actually be called and what states they should include. We were traveling and there was no way to escape each other so the argument kept escalating... and we agreed on nothing. The argument ended when we got home and we were able to separate ourselves for awhile. Last week on the Dakotas episode, Dusty's comment that he was confused about where the midwest is and what it contains was like a gut punch to my argument... My husband has never been prouder about sticking to his argument.
Also... I about died when Dusty tried to follow up on the fact that Brian had stroke, as any concerned friend would, and Nate and Aaron just blew right on past Dusty's concern for Brian.

    Hey Bear,
A Vacuum is just an environment devoid of matter (gases, liquids, and solids). If you dropped a feather and a bowling ball in a vacuum, they would hit the ground at the exact same time. The reason that they don’t outside of a vacuum is do to air resistance being greater on the feather than the bowling ball. Terminal Velocity is the greatest speed an object can reach while falling on earth due to that objects air resistance. I’d answer the rest of the questions from the episode, but unfortunately I think it would take all night. Love you guys, keep making great episodes!

  • @ibissell

Dusty’s question about gravitational barriers is a great one. Where does gravity stop? My understanding is that gravity is the bending of space and time. So, if you picture space and time as a blanket stretched over a frame, and then you throw a basketball on it, space and time (the blanket) would bend. If you then throw a marble on the blanket it will run towards the basketball. That is gravity, according to a book I read some of and didn’t really understand 15 years ago. That doesn’t really answer the question, but that is what gravity is, apparently… I think.

@@PrideRock92 I agree with you. I watched his episode of The Standups on Netflix and, while it was somewhat enjoyable and mildly funny, it lacked the creativity, delivery and cadence of a more experienced and talented comedian like Nate. I think part of the problem is that his whole act (and much of his other material) focuses almost exclusively on himself and poking fun at his upbringing and southern lifestyle. However, the podcast really shows how witty he can be and how he can keep up with other comedians because of his great situational humor. All in all I was skeptical of his addition to the pod, but so far I actually think it is working well and he has great chemistry with the rest of the crew, especially Aaron.

And a rocket can blast through the barrier because it has propulsion that is much greater than the force of gravity. When it breaks through the atmosphere I’m sure it does cause a whole, but gases likely won’t escape because gravity will put them back toward the earth. Also, I’m no scientist, but that’s my educated guess on what is happening up there

I just went through the whole tipping thing with Natasha and Mosha Kasher podcast. You tip when the person gets reduced salary because tipping is expecte, or takes a cut out of payment to shop (cab, hair dresser, tattoo) or when they preform above the expectation.

I'm a current Mechanical Engineering student in college and have been listening up on the podcast for a couple of months now. I have to say, as different as each Nate, Dusty, and Bruh present to be disinterested (or perhaps just inexperienced) in formal education like science, watching every episode and listening to the genuine curiosity about the topics that Dusty shows when he tries to understand Newton's Law of Gravity is a great reminder that, deep down, every person really does like to learn things. Didn't catch Nate in PHX, but the Tucson vibes are lit. #BearDownGoCats

But I super respect y’all for recognizing that it maybe had too much control of your life or that you wanted to be able fully focus on your career. Respect! Love y’all!

Alright boys. I’ve started commenting as I go through the episodes and some take me a few days to get through. This experiment just had me falling over on the couch laughing. All 4 cans bobbin’ up and down Nate saying ‘basically the same’! The water depth is barely more then the can height!

As an engineer this one might be too tough to listen to. HEY BEAR!
There is *always* gravity, you can never get away from it. The gravitational force between two objects is related to the mass of those objects and the distance between them, it's a simple math equation. That's why the moon has less gravity than the earth, because it has less mass than the earth.

That experiment "finale" was the equivalent of a comic ending their set with a feeble "OK thanks" and walking out of the building. But Nate and the rest of the BAND swooped in to make it funny anyway, like a team of experienced MCs saving the day. That's why I love this podcast! It's funny until it's not, and when it's not it's hilarious. Let's go folks!

So if you are driving your car at the speed of light and you turn your lights on----what would happen? Speed of light has got to be pretty fast. What do you think the speed of dark is? Great question for Aaron. Physics is surely a fascinating subject. Great episode guys. Catch you next week

I was on Instagram yesterday and happened to come across a news article about a climber fighting a black bear with his fists. He was even on the side of the mountain, but still managed to ward the bear off with nothing but his hands and feet. I instantly thought of you guys and the ongoing debate between Aaron and Bates about fighting bears with your bare hands.

Walmart started as a five-&-dime in the 50's in Bentonville. The original store is still in Bentonville. It's truly a Mom and Pop store that grew into what it is today. It's the largest employer in the world (after like the Chinese Army and some other government thing). I live in NWA - it's allllll Walmart here
The first "Walmart" as we know it started in 1962. Store #1 is still Rogers. We get to see a lot of trial stuff in the stores, here

In my 9th grade Physical Science class, my teacher made the same claim about dropping a bullet and firing a gun on a true horizontal plane, and both bullets hitting the ground at the same time. Like Aaron, my mind was blown at how that could be true. I'm 43, now, and spent more days of my young adult life than I care to admit pondering how this could actually be true. I eventually just grew to accept it as fact since testing this theory would be both incredibly difficult, not to mention reckless, aimlessly firing a gun in any direction in an attempt to stick it to my 9th grade science teacher.

Dusty - - really enjoyed your Thursday night show in Phoenix!! Thanks for taking a picture with me, love the t-shirt, and "we all had a good time". Also, really liked Nate at The Celebrity Theatre a few weeks ago. Great show! O.K. - since I am way older than you guys, K-Mart was before Walmart. I think K-Mart was a subsidiary of Sears Holdings Corp. before being closed. Growing up many moons ago, we had Zayre's and Lechmere's in New England and then K-Mart took over. Sure miss K-Mart!!!! Wally World 🤨is just o.k. Dr. Pepper is missing on your table. Always enjoy this podcast fellas!

Just saw Baby Daddy at Dry Bar and he killed it! Such a fun night! I’m halfway through the grand slam now that I’ve seen Nate and Brian. I had tickets to see Aaron and Brian at Wiseguys in SLC but the show got moved to a night where I had weekend plans on my boat, and I wouldn’t miss boat time if the Good Lord raised Robin Williams from the dead and offered me front row tickets. This means Aaron and Dusty need to do a show in Utah or Idaho. Or, better yet, the four of you guys do a show together in Tennessee. My wife and I really want to see Nashville anyway!
