    • @GadgetAddict
      @GadgetAddict  5 месяцев назад +8

      That's what I wonder sometimes, if maybe those who are so intent on defending the busway violators - if maybe they're also misusing the bus lane.
      Because if you were using the correct lanes every day and then you see people misusing the bus lane, flying past you - I can't imagine why you'd want to defend them.
      I know that the MMDA and DOTr receive a LOT of complaints like that.
      But let's say that you really don't care, you can surely still understand the impact that it has on commuters, and the busway service. Especially because when you start turning a blind eye to violators, more and more will misuse the bus lane, which eventually will cause even bigger disruptions.

    • @kakabamonster
      @kakabamonster 5 месяцев назад

      Not to defend these violators, but if there are so many of these people that you can make videos about them regularly like this. Then it's a sign that the system needs adjusting, on some level it's the government's fault that there are so many violators in the bus lane.
      Think about it like this. If there was so much rape and murder in a particular city or barangay then at some point you ask where these violators come from. Why do they feel the need to violate so easily? At what point is it the responsibility of the government do something about the situation?
      The high level of violators means there's a lot of room to improve in the system somewhere, the bus lane system? the general traffic problems we've been having? the amount of private cars in the Philippines?
      I think at some point, the responsibility goes to the people that make the decisions, not just the people that violate the rules to "get ahead".

    If you get caught driving in the EDSA bus lane, you should get a big fine of around 20k and your car or motorcycle should be impounded for a month. They should also take away your driver's license for six months. That should be enough to make you think twice about driving in the EDSA bus lane. Filipinos are not very disciplined, so these measures are necessary to deter them from breaking the law.

    For MC drivers who were caught using bus lane must pay extra 1K pesos for arguing or holding-up traffic with enforcer; 3K for executing evasive manuever and 5K for running away and for those on 4 wheel vehicles must pay twice as much for all 1st time offender, for 2nd time offender double the fine on graduated scale. Like what they said when it hurt their pocket they will think twice to violate the traffic rules and regulations.

    I say again, increase the fines and penalty, they know how much but it's too low to determine them. Make it Php30,000, automatic license confiscation, suspension, plus impounding if they try to run.

    One of the real problems is the absence of a cohesive public transportation network. A lot of people resort to bringing their own vehicle on a daily basis, hence, the high volume of vehicles. If taking public transportation were so much more convenient, would the majority still choose to drive within Metro Manila? In the meantime, while we wait for other better and long-term solutions, we just have to bear with stop gap measures. Although there is still room for improvement, I do believe that the EDSA Busway is a step in the right direction and is part of the bigger solution.

      Nearly every driver or rider admits to knowing that they're not allowed to be inside the bus lane.
      The most common reason given is that they're in a rush or they're running late.
      Although some will just lie and insist they weren't inside the bus lane 🤷‍♂️ Or maybe some genuinely believe that - perhaps they weren't paying attention.

    Kudos to SAICT. Great job. However, what I don’t like is that one of the arresting officers hit or beat the owner’s vehicle. If the vehicle drives off, all you need to do is get its plate number and report it to the LTO so they can issue a show cause order.
