Thanks The Art of Documentary for sharing and promoting my work, that's an amazing honor for me and for the farmers I filmed. My intention with this documentary is to illustrate with a simple but striking example one of the consequences of climate change, and to pay tribute to the needed determination and ingenuity of farmers to feed the population with respect for nature. And as you can see it is far from easy, that's why they will start soon a fundraising campaign to buy more equipment and adapt to water, frost, and hail issues due to climate change. Spread the love!
Well done man. As an agricultural film maker this is very well done and to tell this story of a very challenging thing for the fruit farmers. I would love to connect, maybe I am in Europe soon and would love to meet up.
@@DewaldKirsten sure!! I would love as well! Let me know
Big ups @theartofdocumentary !
Excited for this. I was so nervous doing the One Day Doc but it taught me so much
Amazing how well this is filmed, it held my attention the whole way through and there was almost no music used. Really nice work and hats down to the farmers for working hard to keep the orchards warm. Great film!
Nice, great moment the stars with fire 🔥
I was really moved by this piece! It made my eyes tear up. Bravo - Nice work!
Wow! Absolutely loved this. Didn’t realize how long it was until I hit the end. Beautifully crafted!
Thanks ❤
The fact that another guy from my less than 20 km from my village participated and won this challenge is beautiful, congrats Flavien, on est fier de notre belle alsace :)
Hehehe merci Titouan! Oui elle est magnifique cette Alsace, Mark told me many times he would like to come and see these beautiful landscapes!
Awesome I loved the story and the film look.
Beautiful! Great work Flavien!
wow, so absorbing to watch.
Great video showing a very important aspect of agriculture. As we work in agriculture everyday, its these stories that must be told.
😮 Wow! Great work!
Tout simplement superbe. Prenant du début jusqu’à la fin. Et en toute simplicité. Bravo l’artiste !
Beautiful ❤
Beautiful. I have a number of stories that I want to make documentaries from
Fantastic work.
Flavien, this is such a strong film. I told you at the very moment you sent me your first rough cut: I love the balance of opposing forces and contradictions throughout. It's a poetic and beautiful portrayal, yet deeply dramatic and sad.
On the surface, we witness the microcosm of passionate farmers fighting to save their biologically grown crop. We are seduced by a story of triumph, but beneath it, the looming menace of climate change adds a macro layer - a challenge no individual or small community can ever overcome.
The unintentional creation by the farmers of a magic landscape made of stoves glowing under the starry sky is both poetic and mesmerizing. Are these fireflies, will-o'-the-wisp, or lights of hope? The special moments and solidarity among those who come together to help at night add a profound human aspect to the narrative.
Yet, for me it's also heartbreaking to witness the energy and effort these farmers invest in a losing battle, literally attempting to "heat the air" in the orchard while burning more biomass in the process. Nonsense and poetry in a single image. Touché.
I can’t help myself to think about our human nature-simultaneously striving to enhance our life condition while destroying our own life support system.
In that sense, your film is a lovely testament to the resilience of these farmers and a reflection on the broader issues we face. Thank you for making this piece.
Hi Jean-Marc, thanks for your amazing message, and most of all for understanding and highlighting the different layers of this film. Can't wait for our next collaboration!
Stunningly beautiful! Thank you for telling this such important story! I too want to tell stories of the farmers. Getting funding will be the next challenge. All the best to you! Amazing work!!!
Thanks! Farming is the most fundamental activity on the planet. That's one of the reasons I'm so interested in!
beautiful work!
Great story and visuals!
Amazing work. Well-paced, well-shot and well-directed. Thank you for sharing it.
Good job Flavian
Génial!
Beautiful film. Well done!
Beautiful work!
Well done!
This was wonderfully done! Captivating story!
Thanks Christina, glad you loved it
Nice work.
In my view this is not a documentary, it’s a beautifully shot video with almost not story, no conflict, no resolution, and the little story that is told doesn’t highlight the fact that they‘re contributing to the climate Problem by burning wood to keep their peaches alive. That dichotomy would have been an amazing hook. But the shots and the audio especially are really well done 👍 I see great potential here
I'm not sure we watched the same video 😆
🔥🔥 really inspiring
Well done 👏🏻
I'm curious to know how they recorded the audio in the house around 4:00-4:22. I didn't see any lav mics and the camera looks far away. Wireless shotgun out of frame? Great work, those little conversations with good audio carry the story along!
it is done with hidden lav mics :)
Thank you ;)@@kressvisuals
Love this!
Well done! Great work Flavien! 🫶🏻
Thanks Philipp :)
