The only things i would have done differently is having the pulley between the two bearing blocks so its pulling the shaft more in the center and is covered and bigger flanges on the saw to support the blade a bit more but apart from these small changes you did a bloody amazing job, hats off to your creativity and resourcefulness you can count on a big thumbs up from me

Awesome thx. Unfort tons of overtime are keeping me away from my creative aspirations but not much choice at the moment. I have considered using one of my scrap washing machines as a tank for a slab saw----the wrap around metal housing and then build ends for it. Also, love the hillbilly workshop and thx for giving me motivation to go outside in crappy weather and do stuff lol.

yah man! do it. I love this saw and making your own tools is in my opinion way better. You can build to suit and it is cheaper.

Ok so, I understand your mandrel assembly with the pillow block bearings but what diameter shaft is it and how did you mount the blade? Did you thread an arbor onto it?
    I need dialog, lol.

Hey sorry for the massive delay. the mandrel is 1"Ø at the mounting of the bearings. then it steps down on both sides for the diameter of the grinder wheel and the saw blade ID. On the blade side I 3d printed some flared bushings to support the blade a bit better. And both ends are typical RH thread and LH thread like any standard grinder so that the spin serves to tighten the nuts instead of loosing them.
