REWIND TO 2009 when high tech surveillance was being implemented by authorities in cities around the world, and for regular citizens, there was no where one can hide. Whether you’re innocent or guilty, authorities are able to keep tabs on you when you use a credit card, drive down the shops or even log into your computer. They have already gathered a significant amount of personal information about you, and they have only continued to.
More than a decade later, people seem to have gotten used to this intrusive surveillance, and privacy seems to be an afterthought for most.

@@intangibleassetsmusic That is correct. Falsely. In some cases, when people were not aware of the cameras and falsely accused cops, the cops uploaded the episodes, live, as they happened on You Tube, with a note about the false accusations and showing no inappropriate behavior from the cops whatsoever. It’s like showing a receipt as you walk out of Kmart. Assuming all customers are thieves and citizens are guilty. No longer innocent until guilty
Well, showing that receipt cuts down on shoplifting. Less shoplifters means less revenue loss by the store, and that keeps prices from rising to cover losses. I'll gladly show my receipt, especially if it keeps more money in my wallet

@@alisaalisa2060😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I'm not apposed to camera surveillance in public in principle, after all anyone can observe you in public and using cameras on law enforcement (auditing) is rightfully a very important immunisation against corruption. Likewise for citizens to be surveilled by each other. You're already in plain sight anyhow. The problems I see are threefold.
1) Implementing facial recognition and access to private identification prior to probable cause for suspicion of illegal activity, is akin to unwarented search and identification that human patrols are not entitled to do.
2) The overbearing intrusion into public life, wherein scores of busy body security staff are employed to monitor and harass people in real time for petty misdemeanours. Having surveillance footage to rely on for criminal activity is one thing, but the voting public didnt mandate a campaign of petty micro managent of their every movement. While I dont appreciate people littering, I don’t agree with people being harrassed by employed staff behind screens with PA systems to LITTERALY play big brother babysitting us from on high. The ends do not justify the means.
3) Theres a huge imbalance of power here. If only the state has access to hold the public accountable then there is inevitable potential corruption at hand. EVERYONE needs access to these camera feeds and their logged recording files. If government staff, law enforcement and local government workers have no more or less access to the footage, then we're all on a level playing field, until we do,something wrong of course.
The power to "accidentally" lose feeds and files as conveniently required to avoid accountability for law enforcement, goverment employees, politicians and officials who accept bribes is unacceptable. The more people who can survail in an open system, the less is required by government powers to provide and or risk being able to exploit.
So, no auto identification without warrant or probable cause. No petty policing from a distance by hoards of babysitters, and no closed systems to privilege only the authorities who may abuse it and evade transparency for themselves.
Good treatise. spelling fanatic here. Its spelled "opposed"

Recap by Tammy AI
Most people have known about the cameras for the last ten years. Why would the media (this show) claim that most don't know? This episode is a bit patronizing and insulting. All of a sudden, after Y2K, 2012 and COVID, these reporters are going to educate us on something we aren't aware of? I'm pretty sure that everyone who is watching this has had some sort of experience with these cameras.
Don't assume things such as "most". After all, I inform others at least once a month on common surveillance methods that are used, and I regularly receive shocked reactions.
As an example, the majority of Americans are unaware that many police cars have high-speed scanners that scan every license plate around them, and then compare every plate to a database of stolen cars, as well as cars that belong to people that the state has deemed "problem" citizens.
This technology has already been abused many times, and it's going to get worse.
The ways this information and technology could be abused and criminally used boggle the mind.
@@robertjensen1048 k.....after all, I inform others at least once a month that internet chat is just chat and people blurt whatever thoughts come to mind. We all have different thoughts based on our unique experiences. You are someone that shocks people with common surveillance methods. Most of us aren't doing that at least once a month. In my experience, most seem insulted when RUclipsrs assume that we are uninformed about their area of expertise when that area pertains to technological advances. Anyone under the age of 60 has spent their entire life keeping up with the next level of technology.
I'm ok with it as soon as our United States government has cameras pointed at them with a group of citizens monitoring them.
I concur, we should have cameras on public servants to see what they’re up to.

Number of litterbugs shamed = 1,192,329. - Number of violent crimes stopped = 0
GOOD JOB! 👍
So, in China, you can lose ‘social points’ if you litter or be in any way anti-social…these points are linked to your ability to travel, use your bank account etc. They even had drones following people with loud speakers and facial recognition technology. With the introduction of digital currency, even purchases can be deemed socially responsible or not and funds blocked. The best thing to hope for to stop this madness is a solar storm that knocks out all satellites and electrical systems.
right on and there needs to be more
At first blush, this seems really creepy. However, considering how folks behave with reckless regard for others, I suppose surveillance seems the only other alternative. It's a shame really that we've reduced ourselves to constant monitoring.
We have not reduced ourselves to constant monitoring, we weren't even asked! We supposedly meant to be free citizens.

There are always pros and cons for every issue made by the government. Surveillance cameras keep watching every one is of no exceptions. @@user-rf5ko9oo2i I couldn't agree more with crime being out of control. The issue is I am not as optimistic about technology helping us solve or reduce crime. Big cities in SA have a lot of cameras installed by private households yet, crime continues to rise. We have to go back to addressing the factors that have made people so indifferent to theft and violating others and their properties. Until we address that, nothing will change. Even cars with trackers are stolen and hardly found. People will always find a way to work around technology. We need to address the key drivers for crime. You can be sure of one thing - this will be BAD for society. The benefits are obvious but that's not the main reason that it will be bad. When the Police can track peoples' movements it seems, on the face of it, to be good for fighting crime. Initially, that's all you'll hear about. What people don't realise is that it will be used to convict people of crimes that they did not commit. The Police do this type of thing already - they go into court and tell lies about people knowing that the people can't prove that the Police are telling lies. This happens EVERY SINGLE WEEK currently. When the Police can track your movements, they will be able to construct a narrative that places you at the scene of a crime and you'll be faced with proving that you didn't commit the crime, which is extremely difficult to do especially when you have been placed at the location of the crime. If you don't think the Police will do this, the I hope you don't find out the hard way. The Police are not your friend - they cannot be trusted.
Best use of cameras is the litering.... but it won't be used for that... don't be silly
