That's how I feel too. A year ago $500 a month was what I needed for us to buy whatever we wanted. Now at $800 a month that's my budget with me TRYING to spend less. -.-
@@JordanBudgets sorry, Jordan. I'm a new sub. How many in your family for $800? We're a family of 5 and I can't seem to lock down how much we can feasibly spend and still be budget friendly.
I feel you...I'm a widowed pensioner having to tighten my belt a lot...of course our pension did not increase the way that groceries did. So I make more pasta dishes, use frozen veggies and have 4 meatless dinners a week. We should all give lentils a try...lol!
We are broke too! Just started nursing school and can’t work. So the two income household has become a one income household. My husband and I also had to wipe out our savings ( that was supposed to pay for my school tuition) to pay for my mother-in-laws funeral just before I had to pay my tuition. Broker than broke! Thanks for being so positive, your positivity makes me positive!
so glad you are back.. we all need to sometimes take a step back from everything to help us mentally.. you are doing a great job with "trying" to stay on top of the budgets.. I was a single mom for a long time (my kids are grown and on their own now) and I totally know what you are going through
Welcome back! Sometimes I think a break and regroup is a good thing. I used January to reset. It was too hard right after Christmas and I am in a much better place now because of it. I have no doubt you will figure out a good plan for you and the boys. Here’s to a better February!
I’m super glad to know that you and the kiddos are doing OK! Glad to have you back! Using your sheet for the month of January we went from a grocery bill of 1000 down to $190! But there’s also concerns that we do eat out of our prepper pantry still at this time, so that helped drop it down, but also let me understand a few more things with my preps, for example, from here, on out all the canned goods that I can buy that has no salt added I will definitely be doing that. There’s a few things I need to switch out that the kids no longer want to eat and I’m popping new things into the freezer and on the shelves at a later date as soon as these freezers are eaten down, and so are the shelves! We’re doing pretty good over here. Fingers crossed all goes well. We’ve just had a really busy week here Coming up in the next few days with appointments for all three the kids and one of my Chihuahuas! Huge update, I am now a Chihuahua mama of three instead of two. We just adopted our third Chihuahua Bella! 15:08
Jordan It’s so hard to live in society today. I would say I understand what you are going through. But I can’t even imagine. My husband and I struggle too but there are two of us bringing in money. You are doing the very best you can and those two little boys are very lucky to have you. You are the best role model they have. Groceries are crazy expensive right now but that’s ok. You will get through this cause you are a super hero to your boys and to so many people that look up to you. ❤
So good to see you back Jordan! Keep powering through this, too, shall pass. These are always temporary. I ordered some things from your shop over the weekend. Looking forward to them around me. Take care!
Oh man the cost of everything where we live is crazy! Groceries and gas and electric is insane! Our electric bill was $457 and we were freezing in our house!
One thing I did that was new for me this month was not just track my spending but then breaking the categories down and tracking the % of each category cost me out of the pay we received this month. It was good to see that my housing, utilities, and phone was about 25% of our pay.
Last week my daughter and I were both sick and I didn't get to work much and it really showed in my budget. Luckily my husband got his license back and has been able to help out more this past week. Hoping to start over fresh in February and hopefully will be able to file my taxes and get a little bit back
I worked in retail and January/Feb was def the slow months. Everyone is over spending with Christmas and just trying to get their finances together and prepping for tax return when they’ll go back out and spend lol
Keep up the great work. I received my gas bill today and it is 289 dollars. The highest since I bought my house. My business is going well and my antique booth is doing better than expected for January hope February is going to be good as well
As far as you saying people don’t spend money in January and February I totally agree with you! I know myself as well as many friends, family are working on eating out less, having no spend months , making meal plans to help reign in the budget I know we’ve spent so much less this month and i hope to continue that trend. I’m cutting down going to target and wal mart as well although I will get my kids something small for valentines 💘 then staying out of the stores
You’re back! I’ve dreading adding up how much I spent on groceries and eating out for this month. But hopefully I can do better next month on the eating out
I really overspent the last 3 months due to my mothers passing, unexpected travel cost, eating out and keeping up with two households! I am really trying to get back on track this pay check. I do and I don’t like laminated items. 😂 I have my own laminated and can go that route but PLEASE let us know where you found the erasable markers! Glad you’re back!
I'm the same with lamination, I started out laminating my products but found I just didn't prefer to use them that way. I found out running the shop too, people either love or hate lamination - there are strong opinions on both sides lol. ❤
I am new to the budget, cash stuffing world. I have tracked our expenses for the month of January. Our grocery expenses was $1,010. For a family of four. Our groceries do include household products also. Plus, my backups were all used up also. Does anyone have any tips to cut down this amount? Bull buying, discount store shopping, coupons.. any suggestions are appreciated.
Hi Jordan! Is there a way to add CC on your youtube videos? I noticed it is hit or miss and I have a hard time getting through your videos and being engaged when I can't hear well. Thanks!
I feel you. My issue is that I don't have extra income coming in. As a Travel Agent not many people are traveling due to rising costs so my income has stalled. Every dollar my husband makes goes toward paying down debt So I stuff envelopes biweekly and every dollar has a spot. The good news with this is I can finally see a little light as I have one credit card that I have almost paid off.
You may have answered this before, but do you have an Aldi near you? That might help, if you are able to try it. We buy all of our cereal and snack foods there and it really does cut down about 30% of my budget. For example, a bag of name brand tortilla chips is $6 at our regular grocery store right now, which is crazy, but only $2 at Aldi. We also buy all of our cheese there, and cut their cheese into long strips for the kids instead of buying the expensive string cheese. And their bread and bagels are 1/2 the price of our other local grocery stores. Those little things really do add up! If you can cut $30 off your bill each week doing small changes like that, that’s $120 every month! Plus, the Aldi store brand products don’t have any food dyes, which is a plus. But I know not everyone has an Aldi nearby.
Can you do a detailed video about your curriculum and what you use to teach your kiddos. I have no clue where to start and I need to homeschool my son next year. I really need the help. All the curriculums I saw to purchase is so expensive to buy

@@JordanBudgets thank you so much. Oh ok it may vary by state do your doctor offices have a charity problem you can apply for, for self pay patients. Where you provide the last 2 years of income and get approve a certain percentage to pay out of pocket. That way you do pay 100%
Jordan. Tell the docs you only want blood work that is ABSOLUTELY necessary for you. I promise he may not know you are self-pay and just assume insurance will pay the majority. REMIND HIM!!!
I hate that it went up but I'm happy it wasn't outrageous. ❤ The worst thing about renting to me is never knowing what my cost is going to be year to year.
My rent is going up $100 a month starting in March. For context it’s a very small one bedroom and I was paying $550 when I moved in in 2019. $864 is the new rate. I guess it will be vegetable soup and rice if my company doesn’t give a decent raise in April. Ugh. Oh well. Life is lifing! 😂 #SurvivalModeActivated

What the heck are they buying? My husband and I budget $70 a week or about $325 a month, and we have been just fine. We also budget $50 a week for eating out.
l would call your tentant act, here is Canada rent can only go up 2.5% per year. As a Canadian we feel for the Americans having to pay for everything medical, my wife just had a xray and is now waiting for an ultasound, and we don't have to pay for that, nor do we with blood work,, Although this ultrasound is useless cause we no the problem is her arthritis has acted up but Dr want all off it, so she can get her cortizone shot, and that is covered by our benifits from my work
800 is a pretty high food budget for you and the boys. Our family of 6 is doing 1k per month pretty comfortably. And that is including our household products. I definitely think there's room to minimize that number but if there are just convenient foods you want to keep getting then you should accept it'll be that high 😆 some snacks and convenient foods are just worth the extra cost
Depends on where you live. My family of 5 does $1200 and that’s not including household supplies. I sale shop and everything. I live in a very expensive state.
I noticed the prices of food in Aldi alone vary from city to city! I have shopped in five different cities all within 2 hours of my home. And each city is very different! The less desirable the location, the cheaper the food is!

Good morning Rebecca! ❤
You're that small businesses have slow periods at the start of the year. My husband and I have a photography business and bookings have been slow.
Thanks for sharing!! ❤
l would call your tentant act, here is Canada rent can only go up 2.5% per year.

We have different understandings of the word "broke" I see.
lol!
Everything is so expensive. Between medical. Groceries. And etc
It really is, it's all gone up. ❤
Have you ever thought about going carnivore? It could help with your auto immune issues.
Yup definitely depends on what state and area you live in.
We live in Florida where do you live?
I noticed the prices of food in Aldi alone vary from city to city! I have shopped in five different cities all within 2 hours of my home. And each city is very different! The less desirable the location, the cheaper the food is!
You shouldn't judge how much it costs to feed a family.
It was me! 😁 I’m so glad you like the pens as much as I do!!!
