- Adding a step for this doorway is one of those jobs that goes unnoticed unless it's not there. For a few years now we haven't had a step here and it's been a constant thorn in our side. I still have much to learn about concrete work, but this step will eventually be covered with tile and work as intended. Enjoy!

use a sawzall without a blade on it against the formwork for a ghetto vibrator. will help settle in the voids around a small formwork like that. full throttle.
For future concrete projects, you might want to think about renting a cement mixer that will do 4-5 bags at a time.
Perhaps you should have scored the surface of the step so that the tile adhesive would have a better key to stick to.
When you went to build the first step next to the door, you should measured back 20 inches beyong the dokr opening. This way when you a handful of groceries or what ever, that way you do not fall of your step
Great video , as always , Mr . Tardif . Thank you .
Orbital sander is good for vibrating this in.
A note on the concrete -- If it is too wet the water not used in the chemical reactions involved in the hardening process will force the existence of voids in the concrete, which weakens it.
Oh boy I'm used to youtube comments and some persons are gonna be soooo pissed off about this concrete job, gl reading it
Your a keeper!
Great video 👍 👍
Actually you’ve saved yourself a possible issue in the future as that fresh concrete won’t bond too well to the old without a binding agent. The fact you drilled it on two sides will stop movement and possibly tile damage.
👍 good job….love the 🐕
Agreed….job well done!
Love it 😀
I'm not an expert in cement work either, so I'm not sure if this would work, but using a jig saw or saws-all to vibrate the wooden form after you poured might have given it a better finish on the sides.
Ben, if it's not too late, maybe the threshold of the door is on the floor, without a step?
when are you going to continue the pinball machine?
Looks awesome dude, when we going to get to see the baby
Not bad. I would have mixed it way wtter. Its not supporting much weighr. Your first few mixes were dryer than curb mix but you did good
As always, enjoy your videos. But have to be nosy, I see the baby swing behind the dogs playing. So are congratulations in order? After all, it's way past October when you said the "Boss Lady" was due. Either way, wishing you two and your growing family all of Gods best.....
On another subject, wish I could communicate with you privately, as I have some thoughts, or concerns considering your dog run, the dog door, and the chicken coop. Best wishes.

Mixing anything like concrete by hand, will really dry your hands out. Not Good.!
I love the videos but the repetitive "hey" that keeps being played in the background gets quite annoying from time to time. Just my $0.02.
