Season 1 had better lighting and looked like it was animated on a computer. Season 2 has little to no lighting and has darker tones, with a look that makes it seem like it was drawn on paper. Lemme know which one you guys like better.
That’s because season 1 had more compositing, literally computer made digital effects while season 2 relied more on raw drawings without as much compositing
The main problem i had with the S1 were the colour choices than the designs itself, i hated those reflection on the clothes, thankfully S2 corrected that
@@averagegenzguy2751 if you remember the scene of nobara pouring coffee on gojo's shirt, some of that scenes were made by tadashi hiramatsu, character designer of S1, his design also shines with S2 colours(goofy expression ones and the first yuji shot are by hiramatsu btw)
I think the highlights on the clothes were meant to show the type of material that they wore. I always imagined their outfits as being leather-like in its feel, so I liked it. Even in Season 2, I thought that.
Season 1 has more polished and detailed renders on the characters which looks great, but season 2 did a great job simplifying them so that they could be more animated and better composited into the backgrounds which was very important since s2 was so action focused.
I think they suite their seasons nicely. For Shibuya, the less shaded and desaturated design makes it feel more raw and real when blood is drawn. The original has stronger lighting, but I think both seasons make the most of both styles.
Horrendous take. Gojo looks much better in s2. His eyes and hair especially. The purple lighting and color on gojos hair in s1 never bothered me but now comparing it to s2 white and blue color, it's not that great. His outfits also look much better without the over usage of purple, shines and lighting, this applies to pretty much everyone
S1 looked very vibrant. And it was more detailed with the art. That's probably some of the stuff I miss from S1. I mostly like the less glossy look to the uniforms in S2, and the overall designs for characters like Yuji, Megumi, and Choso look closer to their manga counterparts. The shading being simplified makes it animation friendly. The art *design* for the characters is the same, its really just the amount of shading that they use now
Dang 7 likes is already a lot, the most i got was 31 likes. And yeah I think season one sukuna was laughing too much even though he was so weak compared to the sukuna with 15 fingers eaten. Season 2 sukuna looks more like a formidable opponent as his power went up and was still scary even if he didn’t laugh

I love how Sukuna looks is S2. In season 1 his expressions looked too much like Yuji sometimes. like it was Yuji but with tattoos. Idk how to explain it, but he looks more menacing now and his facial expressions make him look like a different person in S2. I think they gave him a bigger jawline and different eyebrows in S2
Everyone is so pale or vibrant depending on the scenes its really interesting to see that contrast depending on the lighting and what’s happening in a scene
Personally, I like S2 design more (especially how they redesign Fushiguro's hair, and male characters silhouette to be more board) The S2 design seems less complicated but also look more modern, the S1 design felt a bit like old school anime which is also unique
Yes, in season 1, the characters look more detailed and tend to have darker themes than season 2. But both are still good with different styles. That's because the director is different
Nobara, Megumi ,Yuji , kenjaku etc are looking same But except gojo and sukuna. S1 gojo, inumaki and sukuna, was better in artsytle , and character sketch
I will explain for people who didnt understand why did they do this change: 1. The character designs were improved in some cases like miwa, choso or megumi just to udjust it more to the manga looks and to make it look prettier 2. Why did they make the hair and skin less details? Jjk is a shonnen, so for logic, it should have battle scenes, the change in har coloring or skin was to make a better and easier animation: if the designs are constantly too detailed, the animation would have had to be less good, at the same time, if the designes are normal and not much detailed the fighting scenes would be much more prettier and cleaner, ans when the moment comes, then they could make a really detailed design for a scene
I prefer some character designs in season 2 more than season 1. Mahito for example has some weird proportions in S1 when you paused the screen compared to S2 where he looks consistent throughout
Season 1: Just common slice of life with action hero stuff 😋. Also the animation is still glossy and shiny. Season 2: This gets way more serious 🗿, not even Juju Stroll is here. The Animation also has no shiny now, it’s almost like Chainsaw Man’s animation, no shiny or glossy, and got better animation.
Better animation? S1 has perfect animation where action scene are perfect too. It looks consistent and solid, while s2 has mob psycho type animation that doesn’t even fit into the dark atmosphere of jjk. Even official arts by Gege looks more like s1, unlike s2 that is flat and too colorful for depressing anime where mc suffers more than gon. Like even hunter x hunter in serious moments was dark and looking solid as in jjk s1. The best animation that I have seen is was in one punch man, where scenes didn’t look to sharp as it was in s2
I’m hoping season 3 gets that grittiness the Culling Games had, I personally didn’t like that season 1 looks like every other modern Shonen. Gege’s artstyle is so neat with that calligraphy pen sketch look, I’d love to see them attempt to do that.
too detailed? How is that a problem? and the saturation isn't bad. It give characters a reddish skin tone around the nose and jaw which has some realism to it
@@shiftyz0152 it makes the animation janky, it's why most of the scenes in s1 were stiff with no actual movement, it looks great when paused but during movement it just feels busy and janky

S1 feels like it’s going for a slightly more rigid, more consistent style where everything is always “on model.” S2 feels slightly less refined but it allows for more flexibility in movement and expression. S1 feels like it’s trying to look great in stills. S2 is trying to look great in motion. And whichever you prefer is down to preference. But I like S2 way more.
@@Space-Rein no, not better. I think both are trying to accomplish different things. I prefer S2, but there are plenty of people who prefer their anime to be more consistent and readable. I won’t lie, there are scenes in S2 that I felt were impossible to follow because of the rougher animation, and I know some people hate that
I belive they actually got very close to the manga art style that was during the ahibuya incident, they learnwd well from gege's drawing habbits and techniques
Tbh, I don’t think it’s soo evident with just single screen caps side by side, rather when you watch the episodes you can see the difference in lighting, animation, and story boarding- plus with season 2, there was a greater variety of style across the episodes due to the greater artistic freedom from the directors. Oddly, while the character sheets seemed simpler in season 2, the actual season seemed to look far more detailed 🤔
The desings for season 2 were more flexible and simplified to help animators work better with them and in turn I perfer it a lot more. The main point of anime is the animation and season 2's desings work better for it.
Season 2 feels more fluid, smooth, and light edges with the lining being let loose. While Season 1 had more harder edges, with heavy shadow quality, along with rough details.
It is obvious that the color palette and animation will change in the second season, let's remember that in the Shibuya arc all the events occurred at night. Therefore the color palette tends to change to darker and the animation changes details for fluidity.

@@nps5607 i mean, season 2 just looks like they stopped caring for the visuals ngl, it looked more like a raw sketch with okay animation, season 2 visuals literally look depressing comparing it to season 1. hopefully they do better in season 3.
@@denstination you can argue that season 2 has a different animation style, but not that it is worse, and there are many reasons for this change. the visuals look depressing because they *are* depressing; purposefully designed in almost monochromatic palettes in cold colors to portray the whole vibe of the season. you *cannot* be telling me that an animation is better than another because one of them doesn't make their characters look like they dumped a gallon of olive oil on their skin or put a breaking bad mexico filter on every scene that is sunny. not only "sketchy" style animation is not a flaw, but it wasn't even the animators' fault they were given such strict deadlines to finish projects of this size. Now, if you're telling me shibuya arc animations are **okay** you are just straight up wrong and there is no "opinion" that can ever support this
Season 1 was in par wath demon slayer art stayle it quite shame mad house does not give to much attention but the story was great and emotional the truth I was going give deep tears in many moments
I honestly like Ss2 more, it looks cleaner. You might say it's trash but Ss2 barely made it on schedule and they won't have enough time to shade the frames one by one
true, but actually the arts style has changed because the director in S1 (Sunghoo Park) has resigned and been replaced by (Shōta Goshozono) in S2. Comparing them side by side is difficult because the Shibuya arc all takes place at night, and S1 is mostly during the day
Season 1 artstyle and animation is better than season 2 for me, but the arc in season 2 is much better than season 1, Season 2 problem is the drawing quality, like the hand
Yeah same , if mappa would have gave more times to animator than it would be best artsytle and details like s1. But hope in s3 they would take efficient time and añimate next season
The character design and drawing style changed in both the anime and the manga since the Shibuya incident arc compared to what the first chapters were, where it looked like a generic shonen, noting how Gege's style changed to one in the that he/ she feel more comfortable in what the current arcs are
I know the season 1 artstyle looks much more shiny and realistic, but I really like the season 2 flat and clear artstyle. To me season 2's artstyle also looks more clean and simple, but I can definitely understand people liking the season 1 artstyle's shiny and detailed look.

The difference will be felt when you re-watch S1 after the Shibuya arc
Personally the art style was by far the best in season 1 🥺
What we seen here is just still shots if we compare the animation difference in fight and art style between seasons then S1 hands down win everytime.
🤔Because this is artsyle comparison video, not fight animation comparison
season 1 just looks 99% better visually than season 2.
glossy characters ≠ better
Now, if you're telling me shibuya arc animations are **okay** you are just straight up wrong and there is no "opinion" that can ever support this
@@nps5607 nobody is reading that.
@@denstination i'm saying that your opinion is wrong
0:57 damn, Kenjaku looks like Noritoshi, makes sense
When I first watched it I thought kamo and geto were related in some way they're literally identical besides the hair
@@Junoo9311 Even the hair is a bit similar lol
Season 1 was in par wath demon slayer art stayle it quite shame mad house does not give to much attention but the story was great and emotional the truth I was going give deep tears in many moments
While think the art style of Season 2 is good, it does remove the detailed look on each character from season 1.
Season 1 - cliches anime rendering
Season 2 - “let’s annouce sakuga styling”
S2 becomes more like MAPPA style the others anime and more close to manga style
@@Space-Rein Yea, Mappa good at copying the manga panels perfectly
Bro studio mappa gotta give these animators a break in my opinion some of the characters really went down hill
the details in the second season have decreased compared to the previous one, but that still doesn't make it bad and it's still cool
imo they seem more realistic which is cool, but the old designs grew on me😢
@IlI_Hater_IlI How do the less-detailed designs look more realistic?
@@thegreatgamingkid8252compare s1 sukuna to s2 sukuna, I’ll wait
@@thegreatgamingkid8252not all of them are less detailed, lmao give mappa a break😭
Bro Season 1 looked soooo good, Season 2 would be a 11/10 and not a 10/10 if it would have the S1 Artstyle
But most people (including me) don't like the coloring of clothes in s1
Honestly season 2 artstyle is much better. I was looking at season 1 after 2 and it was shit in comparison. Especially sukuna.
I honestly like Ss2 more, it looks cleaner. You might say it's trash but Ss2 barely made it on schedule and they won't have enough time to shade the frames one by one
Nitta got the best glowup ngl, smash
the photos that are shown can't be compared to each other bc of different lightings, rooms and positions
true, but actually the arts style has changed because the director in S1 (Sunghoo Park) has resigned and been replaced by (Shōta Goshozono) in S2.
@@kikyo3146you a clown? You mean like the hand Gojo was flipping the pen on was bad? 😂😂😂😂
Like the hand, bruh u mean the hand animation scene gojo did in Hidden Inventory? Stop spitting BS just for the sake of it clown 🤡
@@xEcuador1 bro what? Though i prefer detailed work like s1 , It's my opinion afterall.
I think the visuals were great in s2
I heavily prefer s1 in all aspects
Same
The character design and drawing style changed in both the anime and the manga since the Shibuya incident arc compared to what the first chapters were, where it looked like a generic shonen, noting how Gege's style changed to one in the that he/ she feel more comfortable in what the current arcs are
Cool, the style fits the arc
I know the season 1 artstyle looks much more shiny and realistic, but I really like the season 2 flat and clear artstyle. To me season 2's artstyle also looks more clean and simple, but I can definitely understand people liking the season 1 artstyle's shiny and detailed look.
La temporada 2 me gusta porque no exagera en brillos no en colores es algo mas agradable a la vista y la animacion es mas ligera
My glorious goat gojo looks handsome in both🥰
Lmao.. Gojo still looks super good❤😅also I still love S1 animation cus it seemed darker, but S2 is Also amazing
season 2 art style made everyone shinier ngl
Honestly, I don’t like gojo in season 1. He doesn’t look like the manga but in season 2 they changed him and it looks so much better. (Don’t hate, my opinion)
It's alright, many others also say that S2 is more similar to the artstyle in manga
For some reason choso just change into light skinned like really light skinned
i much prefer the simplified animation style of s2, both incredible seasons though
Personalmente creo que el estilo de la primera temporada y la película se sentía mas vivo y con mas personalidad.
