Forgive me for going this direction, but as a Native AND a former paelontologist, I feel you brushed over one of the greatest parts of this game: you got to BE a Native that never said "How" or "Wampum" and just got to be an unstoppable death machine in a prehistoric world. It was not like T. Hawk in Street Fighter or Nightwolf in Mortal Kombat where there had to be the derivative "they took our land" or "I have Sacred Power" story. Here you had a game where you got to be a Native doing exactly what we have always done: Survive, adapt, and rise above. I work with students now and I cannot tell you how big the smiles are on Native Students' faces when they see my Turok toys on display on the bookshelf. You even brushed over the fact that First Nations actor Adam Beach is the voice of Turok in the 2008 version, and has been trying to get a film adapation for years now.
See I don't look at Turok and think about how other Native characters have been lazily portrayed. I don't feel a need to compare him to those other guys at all. @@616Entertainment Haha, fair enough. You might be interested to know, however, Adam Beach DID finish an animated Turok film (it is only okay). I am glad both Turok Dinosaur Hunter and Turok 2 Seeds of Evil got remastered for modern consoles. I never played Dinosaur Hunter but played Turok 2 on N64. Awesome retrospective on Turok, I definitely would like to see Turok 3 get remastered as I never played the third game.
Turok was my childhood and it’s such a shame it took a huge nosedive later after Turok 2. Hope the franchise returns someday and retains the feel of the first games . Turok 08 especially was a huge spit in the face.
Didn't get into the series until Turok Evolution. After that I was hooked and played Turok on 360 and went back to the originals after that. I hope they come out with another someday.

Great great great video my man!! I absolutely loved the shit out of Turok and Turok 2 back in the day. I’m a few years older than you so by the time their sequels came out I was on to other things but these games always held a spot in my heart. I have always wondered why there haven’t been any new entries in the series because as you said, dinosaurs are fucking awesome! It just seems if done right Turok could blow everyone’s tits off and return to its former glory. Let’s keep our fingers crossed!
I’ll never forget this, Turok Evolution is the very first game I had ever seen gore in a video game before. I remember it clearly, 2004 I’m with my cousin hanging out in his mothers bed room with the GameCube plugged in, playing games like: Mario Sunshine, Pac-Man World 2, Lego Star Wars 2 and Digimon World 2. My cousin looks at me and says “wanna play Turok?” I was like sure! Before the game even starts up he looks at me and says “you don’t mind seeing blood right?” I was like nah I’m fine! 4 seconds later on just the title screen, I see a poor Lizard Man get decked in the fucking head against a wall by a Tomahawk Mace while his head splits in half?! And that was just the first 4 seconds of the game. I was floored and looked at him like “you can do that in a video game?!” That’s fucking metal!

Man, "Port of Adia" is so fucking ingrained in my mind. I never played Turok 2. Just once I tried it on schoolmate's PC (I didn't even consider him a friend back then) and totally forgot about it. And when I bought it recently, I was like "holy shit I heard this when I was in middle school". And then there was a flood of memories unlocked. I managed to recall half of my school days just by hearing this song. The other half is Half-Life's theme song "Hazardous Environments"
I have my old copy on the 360? Looked at it like a month ago. I 100% sure know I have it on PC, still have it saved to my HD. I have the physical copy of that too. I love that game, the only thing that got meh was the 4-5 animations of take downs.
Great retro insight even thought I've never played the most recent game for the xbox 360, looks like I dodged something there. I loved the OG Turok trilogy growing up as a kid
Turok 08 did have flows but was fun. Surprised you didn't mention Turok Escape from Lost Valley it's the Turok we had but not the Turok we really wanted. I am glade I replayed the first Turok though, lots of fun and I beat it for the first time.

To be honest, I would rate this out of 10 a solid 6.5 . Great representation of Turok, but it was definitely action packed enough and given enough elements of the original homage, but kind of fell short each category to be honest. I’m reading this on inhumane mode or the hardest difficulty and it was definitely challenging
As a kid, I played with Dinosaurs but was never into the Jurassic Park movies. I did play Turok on the N64, had fun playing and after that, I didn’t play any of the sequels. I had no idea there were sequels until years later 😂. I hope one day soon especially with the new unreal 5 engine that we’ll get a new Turok game or a remake of the original… My appreciation for dinosaurs have grown over the years from watching the new Jurassic World movies and playing the Horizon video games. They maybe just machine dinosaurs but their awesome.

But a very informative and cool video, my friend. Maybe a little light on the N64 offerings, but that could well be my biased opinion of how amazing those games are. And very impressed with the announcement at the end. Keep up your (very much appreciated) hard work, buddy 👍
It's light on the N64 games for sure because this was announced from the beginning as a retrospective on the reboot. At one point I considered not touching on the earlier ones at all, but I couldn't live with that.
@@616Entertainment All good man, you do your videos how you see fit. They always deliver 👊 I thought life and death was of the whole video game aspect, but it was a cool retrospective. I'm glad they were featured in some capacity. Seeds of Evil holds so much space in my nostalgia compartment!
Dude THANK YOU for this! I hate that Goldeneye 007 gets all the credit for N64 Fps games This game series came out BEFORE GOLDENEYE. Funny thing is Most gamers agree that the Turok Dinosaur Hunter series on N64 holds up FAR BETTER then Goldeneye 007 in not only graphics but gameplay and difficulty. I grew up with Goldeneye but I LOVED this more Using the C Button for movement was very fluent and made strafing a lot easier Using the joystick for aiming was a genius move. 616 Entertainment, while Acclaim has may have ruined NBA Jam, and Their wrestling titles were lackluster, they made some very good games. Turok proved they had potential, but weren't allowed enough time. It took YEARS to finish the First game, but their WWF Attitude and Ecw games were on a strict time budget. That unfortunately also carried over to Legends Of Wrestling trilogy. People hated Turok Evolution but I thought it was WAY BETTER than the 2008 reboot. Thanks for this retrospect of this beloved series. I AM TUROK!!!
Nice video man! I was a huge Turok fan, but was always let down after Turok 2. I bought Evolution and was let down. Turok 2008 was really hard for me to play. I was so excited but ultimately let down and just couldn’t play it much before getting frustrated with the controls and quality.

Those new shows would be so perfect man, what awesome news! Gonna have to join as soon as I can man to help them come a reality! Great job on another life and death my dude👍

Much appreciated, as always.
I'm not sure if you were aware of this but WWF WarZone on the Nintendo 64 had Turok: Dinosaur Hunter as a unlockable character. It might have been only possible with Gameshark.
Good ol' GameShark.
Amazing vid as always man! 1 and 2 withhold some of my favorite memories as a young teen. Magical memories for sure! Sidenote, I would love to share with ya my Superman collection, nowhere near as great as yours but I think you would appreciate it!
Upload a video!
@@616Entertainment Word yess, I will! Trying to get back on track with my channel actually. I did used to post a bit but man LIFE ya know, oye heh...Maybe after I finish setting back up my Xeno shelf, I will get my 6 inch Supes stuff back up on the shelf too and then do some recording. After I do a dusting on a section, if I dont put them back up right away I keep them in a box till I am ready to set it back up in a cooler way!
Fun Fact: Turok was playable in WWF War Zone, and he had The Rock's Move-Set.
But you could only unlock him with a Gameshark or Action Replay and the like. He's impossible to use without a cheating device.
Killing it as always brother much love i cant wait for what’s next & i’m gonna give turok a try never played it
Go for it!
Aaaaggghhhhh….DCUO, been hoping for this far ages…thanks Ian!!!
Thanks for watching, man.
Thanks for watching!
Turok was my childhood and it’s such a shame it took a huge nosedive later after Turok 2. Hope the franchise returns someday and retains the feel of the first games . Turok 08 especially was a huge spit in the face.
Like Always You Deliver Awesome Content I Hope One Day you reach 1 Million Subs
Thanks man.
Turok 2 was the first game I got with my N64... with no memory pak... That game was brutal for an 8 year old, but I LOOOOOVED it.
Dude, 8 years old on Turok 2 is awesome.
Is this reboot one full of secrete areas and puzzles to solve to get to the next area. Seeds of evil was so good so hard and so long
I had all of these games including this one and loved them.
Good times.
Didn't get into the series until Turok Evolution. After that I was hooked and played Turok on 360 and went back to the originals after that. I hope they come out with another someday.
Evolution was so sick.
Triceratops? AWESOME! Not mentioning triceratops not withstanding, UNIVERSAL TRUTH, Ian is an underrated philosopher. Love reminiscing about the 90s either through the Nostalgic 90s Facebook group or introducing my son to 90s, games, 90s shows and of course.... 90s TOYS!
Hahahaha, thanks man.
Great video! I always loved the Turok game on N64 and even have some of the comics. I played the Turok game on PS3, but didn't love it.
Good ol' day.
Love the here comes the pain soundtrack
You'll be hearing more of it soon!
Good stuff Ian. Miss turok
Thanks man! Me too.
Thoroughly enjoyed this! Played the 2nd game to death thanks to its incredible selection of weapons. Here's to smashing that 100k subs my man!
Working as hard as I can to get there. Thanks man.
I have the original "Turok" sitting mere feet from me... and it has been FAR too long.
Thanks for inspiring a playthrough... and for the great video. If I had a dollar, I'd give it to you. Now...
HUG ME, BROTHA!
Hahaha, thanks man. I was really hoping the announcements at the end would spark a big Patreon push and it hasn't at all. But hey, I'll keep working. Doing my best.
@@616Entertainment don't worry dude... it'll catch on. And I was serious, by the way. Soon as I have a dollar to spare, I'll be on Patreon with ya.
Man, I'd love a new one.
Hahahahha, I love it.
Dude, I have been playing catchup on your videos. Got Damn you are one of the best channels on RUclips. I think I have said that before, but yeah I love this shit.
I appreciate that, thanks man.
@@616Entertainment you’re welcome dude.
Wow you really did drop a lot at the end there 😂😂 my man working crazy at the 616 Studios!! ✊🏻 Hope you reach your goals and are empowered to make your visions a reality 😎
I'm trying, I really hope those announcements spark some major interest. Without it, those shows won't happen. So we'll see.
I think we rented this game and I still look for it at the retro game shop i frequently visit.
It goes for like $7-$10 these days, and for that price, it’s a deal.
@@616Entertainment I am on a total nostalgia trip. I guess I'll try online.
Amazing job with this vid. I had no idea about the origin. I really enjoyed playing the 64 versions but I had not checked out the ps3 version. I hope that this series comes back I also feel the same about Dino crisis. Maybe that would be another great series. 🤔 Awesome job with the vid! 🤟🔥
Would love to see it. I hope you're excited for Scream Sequence, I hope we can make it happen.
Any news on gods of war bud? Are you Still doing a video on it all?
Been advertising it since December in literally every video on the channel, my dude. Including this one.
@@616Entertainment so you have yeah 27 minutes in. I sent that before I watched turok video. My notifications are shite for RUclips my man but cant wait for God of war
Hahahaha, I hear you. 6/16/2022, my dude. It's going to be great.
Its the one video game I get lost in the story alot and if you tell it with all the fucking crazy god words you will be saying 😅 am sure I will be upto date.. have you done a tekken series yeah? No sure if I checked you have. That would be badass
@@andyanderson516 I haven't played one of them since Tekken 2, so I'm not really the guy who has the knowledge to write those scripts, hahaha
There was also Dink The Little Dinosaur, Caddilac and Dinosaurs and Dino Crisis and Teal'c raised one brow too.
I've only heard of Dino Crisis out of all of this, lol
@@616Entertainment Yeah those two are lowkey obscure.
This guy is fit, subscribed
God of War, God of War. God of War! I can't wait for that retrospective!!!
6/16/2022!
You talking about your website reminded me of when my friend and I made a website in the late 90s that had midi tracks of famous songs 😂
Dude that's awesome.
16:50 Missed opportunity to say "The cerebral bore is no more."
Dude a great video game track just immortalizes itself in your head, right?
Another certified banger
Thanks man!
Btw, I love the DKC background music!
Hahahaha
Mannnnnn, Turok 2 scared the bejesus out of my hyperactive imagination when I was 13 playing it late at night.
Hahahaha
I have my old copy on the 360? Looked at it like a month ago. I 100% sure know I have it on PC, still have it saved to my HD. I have the physical copy of that too. I love that game, the only thing that got meh was the 4-5 animations of take downs.
Yea, some more knife variety would've gone a long way.
Gotta love the donkey kong country music
Oh yes, I was hearing it too. A little love from the best SNES game out there.
It's one of the best.
Great retro insight even thought I've never played the most recent game for the xbox 360, looks like I dodged something there. I loved the OG Turok trilogy growing up as a kid
It's not a bad game.
Turok 2 is my favorite in the series by far. Mostly because of the soundtrack. But on an unrelated topic: where did the Dan-Dan come from?
ruclips.net/video/a6mpe1GXX7Q/видео.html @4:19
Turok 08 did have flows but was fun. Surprised you didn't mention Turok Escape from Lost Valley it's the Turok we had but not the Turok we really wanted. I am glade I replayed the first Turok though, lots of fun and I beat it for the first time.
Not even really worth mentioning, in my opinion. Like you said, far from what anybody wanted.
The arguement could be made that Ark Survival is kind of like a more self insert spiritual successor to class dino games like Turok
Guys, go subscribe on patreon. This dude works his fucking ass off on these videos. Give him whatever you can afford, shit even if it’s a buck a month. This turok video was awesome and has me wanting to go download the turok bundle on steam. The wrestling game videos are awesome each week and have 616thunder added to the mix would be so sweet
I highly, highly appreciate this. Thanks man. I'm really hoping those announcements can spark some interest. Hasn't happened yet, like, at all, but it's still early. Hahaha
@@616Entertainment you can do it. You have reignited my interest in older titles and, due to your videos, I have replayed Dead Island, Bioshock and rediscovered my love for horror films. You have done this purely through detailing your own experiences and it’s that connection that I personally don’t get from any other content creator. In these really difficult times your videos are a much needed nostalgia shot that reminds us that times can be good and will be good again.
I subscribe on Patreon but highly recommend that anybody who watches these videos does the same.
Have u ever did a video or played farcry primal man???
Nope, never played it. I haven't played any from that franchise since Far Cry 3.
Dude, if only.
Still have a n64 and turok for it takes me right back to being 12 and I remember the cerebral bore lol using it on the multi-player mode where u hunt the monkey controlled by a friend... great times
So gooooood.
I loved The First Turok for N64 and I also loved Turok Evolution for PS2
Yes!
I cannot wait!
Almost there!
I kind of feel like Ark:Survival Evolved is my Turok sequel. But I do need another new legit Turok game. No wait...the WORLD needs it.
Let's get one, man.
I still love the Turok brand after I discovered it nearly 20 years ago
Hell yea, man. Hope you're happy with this!
Dude THANK YOU for this!
I hate that Goldeneye 007 gets all the credit for N64 Fps games
This game series came out BEFORE GOLDENEYE.
Funny thing is Most gamers agree that the Turok Dinosaur Hunter series on N64 holds up FAR BETTER then Goldeneye 007 in not only graphics but gameplay and difficulty.
I grew up with Goldeneye but I LOVED this more
Using the C Button for movement was very fluent and made strafing a lot easier
Using the joystick for aiming was a genius move.
Dude I had a N64 back in the day I would love playing Turok back in the 90s. Sony should get a publisher and start making Turok games for the PS5.
I'd lose my mind, man.
TUROK IS BACK BABY!
Fuck that was fun. You're great at what you do man!
Thanks Adam, I appreciate that.
I tend Turok on the N64 multiple times from Blockbuster! So many damn keys to find, lol.
The damn keys!
Are you from 616 grand rapids mi bro
I am not, the 616 is not related to area code! Hahaha
Rage Wars isn't non-canon, just a heads up. There was a whole story written up to go with it in comic form
It is indeed non-canon. An add on comic book that is never mentioned in the game in question, or any time after in any other release, is irrelevant.
@@616Entertainment
David Dienstbier, Jeff Gomez, and Fabian Nicieza disagree, but that's fair enough.
"You know Acclaim right?"
Me: Iggy's Reckin' Balls!
Ha!
Fun fact!
If you preordered this at best buy, you get a turok beanie. I still have mine.
Heyooo!
You should do a retrospective on the Twisted Metal series.
Been suggested many times. Maybe some day!
Nice video man! I was a huge Turok fan, but was always let down after Turok 2. I bought Evolution and was let down. Turok 2008 was really hard for me to play. I was so excited but ultimately let down and just couldn’t play it much before getting frustrated with the controls and quality.
Dude the 2008 game, like I mentioned, has crazy difficulty spikes. I don't blame you.
I've known of the turok games but sadly never played them
Check 'em out!
Glad i found this video! Ive been wondering what happened to this game. Now I know!😂
