  • Roger Jardine joins Gareth Cliff, Phumi Mashigo, and Kanthan Pillay this week. Together they touch on the controversial NHI bill, why the Tintswalos of South Africa should vote, and the importance of youth in elections and politics. Roger lays down some of his manifesto for his party, Change Starts Now.

This guy is just another politician singing a song he thinks the public wants to hear. No chance he makes any difference. Don't waste your vote on anyone other than the actual opposition. Learnt that lesson back when another new party managed to convince me to vote for them. Regret it horribly

Roger is too vague on BEE. Why must I still be discriminated against because of my skin colour?

I agree with Kanthan that BBBEEE should be removed and replaced with a social poverty criteria. Thus removing the race based identity and strengthening the social cohesion that we South Africans are striving to mend together.

As long as we have so many parties nothing will be fixed because all these parties don't speak with one voice. Imagine our population is 60 and listens to 300 + parties whereas India with a billion and the USA with about 300million have 2 parties and can manage. It shows our people just want to lead and not solve our problems

Just get the corrupt ANC out and keep the EFF out of government...
I believe that the MULTI PARTY CHARTER coalition is the best way to go...they've got integrity...honesty....vision...etc...

Roger is is a highly intelligent person who has both the qualifications (not just a Matric*), and the business acumen to navigate the complexity in our society and economy. He comes up short on the political side, and in my view need to take a hard turn to the left, back to his political roots. *He is an independent and critical thinker, hence the mismatch with the DA, and other Neo-liberal political formations.

I just pray hard that God must rescue us we are in trouble in this country. How can politicians destroy their own country. In the whole world there is no borderless country except southafrica. You can never go to even neighboring countries without a passport, you can never do what you like in those countries they even hate us,. It is really sad about this country. No patriotism.

He appeals to the muslim and coloured vote. Its suprising how many parties are aiming for the same market. I think it says a lot about those communities.

After this show my view of Roger has changed to a more positive one. A thoughtful man who reads the tea leaves well. I don't agree with everything he espouses but hope he becomes an important figure in the new government.

I can only pay a helper what I can afford on my minimal income. Above that, I must do the work myself and instead of getting something he gets nothing. That's minimum wage.

Roger Jardine is literate, knowledgeable and experienced and has a well- set moral compass. But, people are insensitive to loadshedding, but giving no consideration to those folk who can own a fast food but to have loadshedding destroy a dream ???

There's so much work outside of SA. Many countries have negative population growths and need people to work in their industries, both skilled and unskilled, why can't we outsource temporary labour to the rest of the world? If you give people the option, and you cover basic things like immigration, accomodation and travel, why wouldn't our people want to work around the world and come home for Dezemba? South Africans are resilient and will survive anywhere in the world. At this moment we can't all work in SA, but it doesn't mean that our people can't be supported in this regard. We can benchmark different industries in different countries, and once we've created additional capacity in SA we can leverage the skills. We will lose out on the potential income tax, but reduce dependence on grants and will gain VAT on international currencies that comes back into the country. Look at what the Levert Group are doing, why can't we start our own Personnel Resources companies? It's not THE solution, but it is a solution.

I don't see this guy gets more than one seat in parliament. That' if he is lucky. He falls into the category of those parties who don't make it to parliament. What a waste of money time for PR.

Extremely uninspiring. We need future leaders who are enthusiastic, dynamic and inspiring, which sad to say Roger is not. Would he have had the career and profile if it was't for his family legacy and family connections? Didn't even have the courage to indicate his expectation for his party's election results. Just another small party with enough financial backing hoping to become a kingmaker in an election which is going to be the most fractured we have ever had???

Roger disappointed us young people in this interview. He dodge the questions asked. He never thoroughly answered and showed that he is decisive. I just heard an ANC politician in another party. So far its been PA Gayton's honesty although we dont fully agree with all his ideas and DA's ability to run the western cape successfully through the backing of the private sector. We do not know who to vote for thats why we are not voting.

A proper politician don't make pie in the sky promises. He was evasive because he did not want to let out of the bag what is in his manifesto. I think he is likely stronger in the economy side, which underpins a lot of solutions to a lot of our problems Jobs and a strong economy eradicates a lot of social problems.
