Stanley Cook Set - Hack #7 - No Drill Bail Handle
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 26 июл 2024
- Imagine adding a bail handle to your Stanley Cook Set that doesn't require drilling holes in the cook pot. With only 24 Oz of capacity, adding holes only diminishes the amount of food or water that you can put into the container. So, I came up with a new way to add a bail handle to the cook set that is easily removed, yet can stay permanently attached if you wish and doesn't reduce the volume of the pot. Make sure and check out my other videos in the Stanley Cook Set series!

Thanks for watching this video and please leave me a comment in the section below!
Fantastic vid!
You have made me realize when I bought my set several years ago I purchased a versatile valuable piece of gear!
One thought though, if you made loops on the ends and attach the male into the female end, you now lave one that will not come off until you want it to!
Thank you! Yes, that would be another option!
Mate you look like UFC legend Randy Couture. Great hack btw
Impressive
Just wondering. Could you not JB weld or epoxy the " Chicago" connectors onto the outside of the cup and forgo the hose clamp altogether?
I really like the way you fashioned the bail.
Smart idea! This way you don't have to damage your cook set by drilling holes in it. :)
Thank you so much!
Okay, this is one of the MOST useful hacks I've seen yet!! I have this same cookset and wondered how to make it better? BOOM!! You did it!!! THANKS!
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it!
Just found this series and loving it so far. This hack gave me an idea for a slightly slimmer version...using 2 hose clamps, cut them to where they overlap a bit then drill holes on the ends for the chicago screws. Put it all together and you get rid of the worm screw. Of course it may require some addition engineering to keep the overlaps together, but that can be sorted out based on the tools and skills of the individual doing the project...keep 'em coming in the meantime!
Sure, as long as you could keep those overlapping bits together that could work.
James, I’ve loved the modifications you’ve shown us to the Stanley cook set. I have two of them and I’ve been following along with this series. Thank you.
Great! Thank you so much, glad you are enjoying the channel!
This is amazing! The Stanley cook pot is my go to setup for hiking and your hacks have been awesome, it just keeps getting better and better! Thank you!
Thank you, so glad you've been enjoying them!
Best hack yet for this Stanley classic! Well done Sir.
Thank you so much!
I am ready to transform my Stanley. I'll be taking this out on the trails soon. Thanks.
Great! Have a good time and be safe!
This is a great idea! All common items that are easy to find. All of your Stanely Cook Set Hacks have been excellent. The best of the best!
Awesome! Thank you!
James, you just keep getting better. Love this series!!
Thank you, more on the way!
That's incredible! When I watch your videos, it really inspires me to try and think of ways to better things. This was a great video, thanks. Stay safe out there, and God bless!

Thank you, so glad you enjoyed it and found it useful!
Stanley cook set hack #678 how to turn into f14 fighter jets...lol keep up the good work man
Now that's a thought...hmmm....lol! Thank you for watching and for the comment!
This is the best of your mods, quick and painless. I've done it to some of my GSI-type cups as well, and will finally turn a cook pot I've been taking in and out of fires with pliers for years into something much more useful!
Thank you so much!
You're a clever man, James!
Thank you!
That is so clever! I love it! By far the best Stanley Cook set hack I have seen yet!
Thank you so much, glad you liked it and found it useful!
Just ordered mine today! What an awesome idea! And I couldn’t help but notice that you’ve literally replied to everyone’s comments! Hats off to you sir. People like you prove that there’s still good in the world and you are a true inspiration! It’s little things like this that get me through these tough times. Just subscribed thank you 🙏
Thank you so much! I'm really glad that you enjoyed the video and that you are finding the hacks useful. Also, thanks for the sub and welcome aboard!
2:40 into a 5 minute video titled "No Drill Bail Handle" you tell us where to drill the holes. Not quite what I was expecting on this one. Still a cool and unique way to add the bail.
The point is that you don't drill into the pot. Not that you don't have to drill at all.
Hello James, that was very clever. Thank you for sharing. All the best to and family, stay healthy. 🤗
Thank you, my friend! Hope you have a great weekend!
BEST HACK EVER!! I am doing mine tomorrow, so far all the hacks I have done have increased the usability of my cook pot 110%. The only thing I did a little different was I made a smaller "reach handle" that could be packed away easy using a 2X2 piece of wood cut according to your instruction. I can't wait to see what you come up with next!!!
Thank you so much, my friend! Glad you enjoyed it!
This is a superb idea! Thank you for sharing this video. 😎
Excellent video!
I wanted to add a bale handle but do not to butcher my cup to do so. Your hack is the best of both worlds. Thanks for the great idea!
You're welcome, glad it helped!
This is the best handle idea I've seen so far. I'll be using it on my Aldi set.
Great!
That's definitely something I keep my eyes on. Absolutely brilliant! And great video as always, my dear!
Thank you so much!
Literally just whenever I think you have found all of the hacks for this container! Study surprising me
Thank you so much!
I love this handle idea. It works great. The only issue I personally have is that it won’t fit in my Condor water bottle bag but I will come with a solution. Keep up the great videos!!
Thank you! I plan show you my solution in a later video, Lord willing.
That's without a doubt the best idea for a pot hanger on s Stanley cook pot that I've seen! I think someone would have a tough time beating that one! Thanks James! ATB from Vietnam Sam Adler
Thank you so much, Sam!
Such a slick idea James. Thx!
Thanks!
Best handle hack I’ve seen. Thanks for sharing it with us.
Thank you so much!
Very creative and easy-to-do mod for the Stanley! Great idea, keep'um coming! Stay safe! Peace!
Thank you!
I like how you attached this.
Thank you!
James, you are a samurai.
Thank you!
Hi James, great idea. I thought at first that the screw ends were going to stick out too far and catch on any carrying pouch you put the kit in, but once the kit is nested and and the bale handle is in place it all looks very neat and useful. Like many folk, I just drilled holes through the cup for the fish spreaders. The greatest issue with the holes through the cup is if you want to drink from the side. Though i have found the holes useful in another sense, as with the lid in place they act as handy drain holes for your pasta! Thanks for the vid.
Thank you so much for watching and commenting and glad you enjoyed it and found it useful!
Just want to say thank you for this idea that you gave here things I use that on the Stanley Pot and 2 bowls to make the bell handle I appreciate the idea thank you
Thanks for watching!
Very cool hack. Take Care and Keep Exploring The Outdoors.
Thank you so much!
your ideas are great making such a good product even better
Thank you so much!
Best Hack vid for the cook set i seen . Good job.
Thanks!
Fantastic video. Great solution without drilling or cutting up your Stanley Adventure Cook Set. Thanks :)
Glad you liked it and that it was helpful!
Another great DYI video thanks for sharing.
Thank you my friend!
Wow, ingenious. Great job. I might get a Stanley and try some of these hacks. Im still using a titanium set ive had for years
Thank you!
Darn it James, you beat me to it. I was thinking of using stainless steel leader with wire lugs attaching to the Chicago screws. But yours does great.
Thank you! Yours sounds like a good idea too!
Thanks for another great video. All ways looking forward to you new vids
Glad you like them!
Ok, I see what I'm purchasing tomorrow. You are correct sir, I too have not seen this anywhere else!
Thank you so much!
Third time through this series, putting something together for my daughter now. I opted to do the notch in the factory handle slot on the container instead of adding a bail handle. Basically, raise the factory handle so that the top is centered over the container. Mark where the handle wire is touching the slot on each side. Take a Dremel type tool, file, metal blade for a jigsaw (snap the pointed tip off so you have a flat end with teeth all the way), etc. and cut notches into the slot so that the tension of the handle pushes it out and into the notches, locking it in place. You can now suspend it over a fire using the partially deployed handle, still have access to remove the lid, stir, etc. and added no components or weight, and the handle still works in all it's original positions. I've found using a toggle on a rope works well, as does cutting a flat notch in a stick if using a cantilever or pole method of suspending the pot. Since the end of the Stanley handle is square, cutting a traditional X-notch or pot hanger notch isn't necessary. I don't recall where I first saw the handle trick, it's certainly not anything of my own invention, but it really works well.
Yes, I have seen that done as well, somewhere on youtube. Thank you for watching, and glad you're enjoying the series and finding it useful.
You're so smart! Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for watching and for your kind words!
What a great idea! Thanks for the video!
You're welcome, thanks so much for watching!
That’s a clever mod. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you so much for watching, glad you liked it!
Thanks Mr. Bender, another good tip I'd not yet seen.
Thank you!
Great video brother thanks for sharing
Thank you!
Very nice. 👍 I used two twisted strands of GI trip wire to do the wire bale thing. It works, but not super durable. That mod looks great.
Thank you!
I seen another RUclips video where a guy uses fishing leads and picture hangers/hooks. Tried it and it works great! 30lb metal leads of 6 costs about $1.50 and the picture hangers are about $2. Will make a set of 3 pot hangers in about 30 seconds and takes up little room. That's a cheap and quick bail...if you use a small carbine r to connect the leads at the other end. I can hang the larger cook set with the bowels with them as well. The hooks slide under the lip of both Stanley pots and the glacier cup as well. Also the Ozark Trail 30oz lid will fit the glacier cup and the Stanley. Wish I could add pictures to this message for you. Thanks for all the hack ideas.
Thank you so much. Those are also great ideas!
Thus is a great idea! The only thing i would do differently is partially tighten the hose clamp before marking it for the notch. It looked like the screw may have been in the way of proper bail function after all was said and done. Either that or just put the screw opposite the OEM handle. Thanks for this. I may mod mine soon and start using it again!
Thank you. It must have been the camera angle because it doesn't interfere with the bail handle function. Thank you for watching and commenting!
Good work!
Thank you!
When you wake up to this, you can be pretty sure the day's gonna be pretty good.
Glad to be a help to make your day go better!
Another great idea. Thumbs up.
Thank you!
Thanks for the information on this hack, good thinking.
Happy to help, thanks for watching!
How clever! Love it. Thank you
You are so welcome!
WOW , Super Hack! Thank you!
Thanks!
Nevermind, This is the one I was looking, chicago screws. Very nice. I have spent years trying to find a nice clean way of doing this.
Excellent!
Great,practical and nice!
Thank you!
Just did this on mine, great thought out design, I like that I don’t have to drill the cook pot
Thank you so much, glad you liked the video!
That's cool. Good work!
Thanks!
I really like that idea!
Thank you!
Best I’ve seen. Thanks
Thank you!
Great idea!!! Thanks!!
Thanks for watching!
Simple yet effective
Thank you!
I like it because it's easy and inexpensive but it looks good
Thanks!
i love watching these and sharing on facebook !! its better then all the sad news in the world !!
Thank you, my friend! Much appreciated!
Been thinking of this for awhile I simply hate holes in my pot. You have gotten the best idea so far. But (and I will try this) I think you can drop off the hose clam and just use high temp J.B.Weld to mount the Chicago screws directly to the pot. I just didn't think of Chicago screws, thanks.
Sounds like it might work, good idea!
I'm not sure if you pointed it out in any of these videos, but the lid from the cook set fits in top of the Ozark cup perfectly! Keeping some soup warm while I do other things right now as a matter of fact. 😁
It does indeed, thanks for mentioning it and for watching the video!
@@WayPointSurvival I watch all of your videos. They're good clean fun and I think it's wonderful that you give thanks for all of your meals!
Hmmm... not too shabby James. Awesome Hack. The way you’re building this soon enough it might become self aware.
Thank you! Lol!
Great modification, thanks for sharing, stay safe, God bless !
Thanks, you too!
Great video!!!!!!
Thank you!
I have a Stanley two cup and was frustrated about the lack of a bail handle. I ended up buying a pathfinder 2qt pot. But this is a great idea.
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it!
I'm loving these hacks. This one tickled my fancy cus I was feeling guilty whilst revving up my drill, not looking forward to poking the holes in my Uncle Stanley for the bail wire. You de man, keep up the creativity, ingenuity and good spirits. Great to see your subs on the up n up, you deserve it. Hope to come n pay hommage one of these weekends over yonder in the Buckeye. Good time for a mask burning bonfire methinks. Cheers
Sounds good, come on over...!
Just started watching. Great stuff. Thank you. Stainless steel zip ties might work.
Yes, that is another option I have seen some folks use. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Hi James. Another good hack. Thanks for sharing. ATB. Nigel
Thanks for watching, my friend!

Thank you, Chief!
That was very cool👍
Thank you!
Good idea 👍
Thank you!
Brilliant!!!
Thank you so much!
This hack I need. Thx.
You're welcome, thanks for watching!
I Like this as a decent "Banger Set" as I call it. Decent for me and my Boys an all in one, get it and go, setup.
Yes, it's great for that!
I like to mod things. It gets my brain working to look at something that someone else thought of and put together and wonder what I would've done differently or perhaps what could I add to it to make it better or even just unique to me. Beit firearms, survival gear, or bushcraft gear I always look for ways to improve upon it. Without getting too nuts about it though.
I have to say, these have been some of the neatest mods for one of the most basics of cooksets that I've ever seen. It's a simple easy and cheap but very workable and usable cookset. Your mods elevate it to a level previously not achieved before. What if the Stanley Company were to see these mods and implement them in future versions? That would be pretty cool I think. Maybe you'd even get some royalties eh!! Thanks for the videos.
Thank you so much for your kind comments! And, thank you so much for watching the channel!
Clever idea 👍
Thank you! 😊
I know Ace Hardware has Chicago Screws, or possible most hardware stores. One stop shop instead of ordering them. I have seen the hose clamp idea before but not with the use of Chicago Screws, that is brilliant.
Thank you so much!
Pretty slick 😎👍👍
Thank you!
BRILLIANT !!!
Thanks!
Ok James... Just as soon as I think there is no more mods you could make for this cool set. You pull another Cool rabbit out of your hat ! Awesome hack !
Thank you so much!
Best idea ever!
Thank you!
Wicked mod for sure. Looks like it would work great.
Thank you, it does!
That's a cool way to add holes without drilling into the cook set. I haven't made this or tested it but it would seem like it would be more secure to bend eyes in the end of the bail and use the screw part of the chicago screw.
Possibly. It would depend on if you could get the eyes tight enough for the screws so that they wouldn't slip off. It's a good idea!
@@WayPointSurvival I guess I wasn't clear. My idea was to use both parts of the chicago screw. Put one part in just like you did and put the eyes of the pail handle on that then put the other part of the chicago screw in. Let the bail pivot on the screw.
Good idea!
Very Clever!!
Thanks!
