Jeez that thing is huge... like everything is gigantic! That motor is comical!! It should a be a fun build and also a fun runner!!! I am sure that instant torque of the electric motor versus the older gas one will be a fun thing to have! Immediate rooster tails!! I am looking forward to seeing it come together and what you are going to change up on it as you go! Good thing you have a large work area there! My build being isn't gonna handle something of that scale!!
They are massive and I've been away from the large scale stuff for so long that I have forgotten just how big things are. I'm definitely looking forward to the power dump of a brushless motor on something so massive. It will be interesting to compare this to my Traxxas X-MAXX 8S. That thing is a beast and really fast and fun to drive. On the gas ones, you could get high RPM clutches so that they engaged in the power band. that combined with a tuned pipe for more top-end, and you had a car that would wheelie on demand.
I agree, now I just need to find a good place to open her up. These take a lot of space and they can be dangerous around people when you have a +20lb car scooting along at 40 mph.
That smell at 4:30 😅 Everyone knows that smell! The SBK box is the same as the original SS kit. the RTR box was a much larger box. This is awesome to see you back Brice! Excited to see you back and really interested to see what you can do with an electric model!
Thanks for the welcome? I already have some ideas, I just need to work through the kit to see how the build goes. I'm excited to run an electric Baja. I'm sure it won't disappoint. It's funny, that smell is so unique and I had completely forgotten about it. Same with the size of the car. It's been so long since I have worked with a Baja that I forgot how big things are. Everything in the kit seemed oversized. I've been spending too much time with the tenth scale stuff.
It's a tool that I overlooked for so long and then found its utility once I understood the design. It's very helpful for the shocks and tie-rods/rod-ends.

That’s gonna be a fun buggy

Yeah, it's been a nice surprise to see these kits come out!
I still use the wheel wrench but only for doing the turnbuckles and shock rebuilds a very good multi-tool.

Got my Rovan 5B last weekend and loving it. Paid $450 total price.
