A sequel to Halloween 3 or finally start the anthology idea! One per year, they can have my money

BUJILOU ™ starting the anthology would be fantastic. Idk about a sequel to 3 though. I'd definitely prefer it to any reboots or sequels to this. Idk if they would do the original 3 justice.

Carpenter (or whoever) could still start an anthology film series to be released every October with a different story, and give each movie the title "Halloween Night" (or something else that's macabre) and then a subtitle of its own. That way, we could break from the Michael Myers thing entirely. ( And _finally_ )

    great review.
Thing to always remember about the Michael Meyers character is that he mostly has more fun by scaring people than just killing them.
In the first movie he could have killed a ton of people but he prefers to build up his own tension and gets off on the fear he creates as much as the kill.

In the child's bedroom the rotating lamp features a clown with a knife, a nod to the first killing in the original film.
As with the original Halloween (1978), Michael Myers is listed in the credits not as "Michael Myers", but "The Shape".
Jamie Lee Curtis credits the film as living up to the original.
Jamie Lee Curtis revealed to Chris Hardwick on his podcast that she performed the sounds of the baby crying when Michael walks through the house after slaughtering the resident with a hammer and grabbing a butcher's knife from the kitchen.
While the film ignores all previous sequels and reboots, it pays homage to all Halloween films, as had been intended by co-Writer Danny McBride.
Jake Gyllenhaal helped convince Jamie Lee Curtis to reprise her role of Laurie Strode for the film. Jake Gyllenhaal is a family friend of Curtis' and is dubbed by her as an unofficial godson.
The date the film was released in the U.K. & U.S.A. is the day Michael Myers was born. October 19th.
Became the highest grossing "Halloween" film in the franchise in its opening weekend
Released coinciding with the 40th Anniversary of Halloween (1978).
A radio call coming over the police band mentions a "disturbance at 707 Meridian", a tribute to the real life original address of the Myers house in Halloween (1978) before it was moved a few blocks down.
The song that is playing when the boy and his dad notice the bus crash is a western version of the song that Laurie sings throughout the original movie, this song can also be heard during the end credits
The gas station is almost an exact replica of the gas station prominently appearing in Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers (1988), down to the ice box outside.
Michael and Laurie are not brother and sister in this version
This is the first Halloween movie to be shot digitally instead of on film.
Michael Myers is 61 years old in this film
John Carpenter claimed that this would be the last Halloween film, even though there were contractual obligations for a sequel. As of November 2019, two sequels are already in development.

Interesting fact about Danielle Harris being in Halloween (2018). She actually tried her best, and I mean she tried her damnist to be in the film as Lorie's daughter. In fact, there was even a petition turns the film by fans that wanted her to be in the role too! I never did sign the petition, but I really wanted her to be in the role as well! "Supposedly" the film makers were aware of this by fans, but for some reason, they didn't agree to let her in. Which was a BIG MISTAKE on them! Danielle even replied being disappointed. Now, even IF she does appear in the next Halloween films, it wouldn't feel right. SHE should have played Lorie's daughter. Ah well.
Anyway, aside from that, This was a good film! As a fan of the series, this is my third favorite Halloween sequel. Though, I wish this was the last one. Instead of doing ANOTHER Michael Myers movie, just make a sequel to Halloween III and let Michael Myers die in peace. Micheal Myers is my favorite slasher killer, but I just wish they let him sleep. But despite my complaints, I will be seeing the sequels lol I mean I am a fan, so I have to.
HAPPY HALLOWEEN, Gary & Iain! See you guys next week! :)

I honestly agree with you guys, because when first heard that other people, especially Halloween fans were disappointed (including one fanboy saying that he hated it), I was sitting there saying “What are people disappointed at, this worth while sequel.” As for me, seeing most of the films in the franchise, I 100% take it over Thorn Cult trilogy (even though I liked the 4th one), Busta Rhymes and screaming hillbilly parents. I didn’t an amazing, I just wanted a good Halloween movie, that is what, in my opinion, got.

@Grant Kerr and with the direction they took laurie, about how battle trained and ready she is for mike, she almost dies immidiatley when he gets to her house (through contrived events because their not related anymore) and almost dies 2 more times after he choked her through the door... this movie kept making me roll my eyes. I like the original and the second (sorta), this movie just kept reminding me how old they are, especially michaels mask... kept making me think that he's like 70 yrs old, I pretty much hated everything but the score and cinematography. I hated the jokes, all the "call backs" (re-treaded too much with that for me imo, the score and laurie was enough, I didn't need scenes, kills, costumes, shots, just too much shit I didn't feel like it was a new movie, just a twist on whats been done before) they'll never be able to re capture the original, and maybe the second in my opinion, its just a cash grab now. this movie did nothing but remind me that Hollywood sucks ass at writing scripts, and how old the original is.

I can totally understand people's issues with this movie to some extend.
But in my opinion fans are waaaay over analysing this flick
They nitpick a lot, and in the same time they forgive the same bullshit stuff (or even worse) in the old sequels.
I guess it is a matter of nostalgia.
I have no nostalgia for Halloween series, I've seen original Halloween for the first time in 2015.
    I think it is a masterpiece, 10/10.
People praise the original sequel, which is fine, sure, 7/10, but you can tell Carpenter was forced to write the script, and he didn't have any thing cool and new to add to this story,
    He even admitted that himself.
You can feel it watching the flick.
Also he have added additional gory and silly slasher stuff to the director's cut, to keep up with other slashers at that time (which killed the vibe of first movie a bit). The director was not happy with it.
    He had another vision.
And in case of Halloween 2018 you can fucking tell it is a work of passion, and that the studio, director, writters, actors, the crew, everyone respect the original a lot (and even the flawed sequels), and did their best.
In my opinion Haloween 2018 (with all it's flaws) is way better than H4, H20, and H ressurection and RZ's remake (haven't seen H5 and H6 yet).
It is well written, well directed, well scored, well casted and acted.
It tries to tell a bigger story than a typical slasher.
If you ask me it is the best mainstream, big studio slasher since Scream 4.
It's a good movie, a great horror and an awesome slasher.
For me it's the best sequel so far.
    Cheers guys!

I've done a lot of research on the whole series. I will post videos soon but I think I will fair if critical of some choices like the Thorn trilogy. But I'm surprised you say its better than 4 certain scenes seem basically stolen from it as well as H2. Maybe I'm seeing things but it felt like they lifted H4 a lot.

Well I was planning to put a link here to the boxofficemojo franchise list and say, 'Look at the "adjusted for inflation" list.' Unfortunately those pricks who bought boxofficemojo (IMDB) have now made that an IMDB Pro feature, meaning you have to pay to see that now. I happen to know from previously checking, when it was free, that Halloween 1978 sold more tickets than any film in the franchise. It's only the price of tickets inflating over the decades that makes this seem like the most successful Halloween film, it's not.

I have mixed feelings about this movie. I don't hate it, and it is considerably better than some of the other Halloweens out there, I'll give it that. (Lookin at you, Resurrection and Rob Zombie. Lol).
    What I like about it:
    -Michael
    -Laurie
    -Allyson
    -The deputy character
    What I LOVE about it:
-The score! Holy crap, I actually did think the score for this movie was amazing, ESPECIALLY the new one, "The Shape Hunts Allyson," that music that plays when the yard lights come on and Allyson sees Michael for the first time. In fact, I think I may even like it better than the original theme.
-I gotta admit, too, I loved the callback when Michael throws Laurie out the window...and when he looks again, she's gone, just like he was in the original. I thought that was pretty neat.
-Dr. Loomis' voice on that tape that played back about Michael. That was sweet!
What I don't like about it:
-The humor. UGH. Cringy. I knew the humor for the whole thing was going to be bad from the get go as soon as the dad said, "Aw, man. I got peanut butter all over my penis." I turned to my buddy I was watching the movie with and said, "Did he REALLY just say that?"
-Basically almost all the other characters I didn't mention under the things I liked category. I thought most of the characters in this movie weren't that good to be honest.
-Okay, what is the significance of eliminating the brother and sister relationship between Michael and Laurie? I get that some people didn't like that aspect of it, and I know that wasn't originally Carpenter's plan, but the thing of it is, it makes NO difference in this movie. And really, that Michael and Laurie are brother and sister is so ingrained in the franchise now that it's actually very hard to NOT think of them as brother and sister. It still seemed so personal for Laurie. I think the brother and sister angle strengthened the plot, not weakened it. People's complaint was that it gave Michael motive, that he was supposed to just be a random killer who liked to kill people. Well, Michael always did like to kill people...he didn't just pursue Laurie and no one else. But I thought the fact that he had it out for his sister made him even more evil. Not the fact that she did anything to him, but that he's so evil he just wants to destroy any familial bond that he has.
So, anyway, that's my thoughts. This movie is a mixed bag for me. Okay, not bad, but I don't think it really justifies its existence besides more money.

I liked that couple of things you listed too, but most of the movie felt like re-tread scenes from other Halloweens imo, some was cool but then its like too much if you've seen most of them. I didn't like everything you listed as well. since their not related anymore, it doesn't make sense anymore because of how they did it. now since their not brother and sister and she's soo traumatized that she built her whole life preparing for someone who "isn't related to her and doesn't care anymore for no reason to even go after her...." its just dumb, then when he gets to her house (because plot.... stupid contrived set of impossible events to have them face off even though theirs no point anymore) she almost dies immediately! wtf and then two more times after that! her plan kept making me roll my eyes soo much I got a headache, I didn't like laurie in this movie. she planned and planned but almost bit the dust 3 times through stupid mistakes. she was over traumatized for really no reason, to the point of being an alchoholic crazy who had 2 failed marriages, and really for no reason since they aren't even related. the sheriff dealt with more than her seeing all the deaths and familys afterward compared to what laurie went through in the first.... the end could have been soo much better imo, it just sucked and made laurie look stupid and the whole movie made her seem overly traumatized and crazy, not strong at all. just my opinion, I agree with you, all except laurie, I don't have a hard on for Jamie lee Curtis like most ppl, they could have done her character a lot better, like atleast making her plan work for the most part at the end, not almost blowing it and dying 3 times for stupid decisions

@@JB-ju4ev Yeah, there was definitely a lot of stuff that was retreaded. I can see what you mean about Laurie. I just liked her, but I didn't think she was an amazing part of the movie. And yeah, I have to admit, I mean what what she went through in the original was traumatic, but it does make me wonder if a normal person would be THAT paranoid years later. I totally get what you mean.

@@JB-ju4ev And also, yeah, some of the stuff that happened just seemed to happen because the plot required it. Immediately when the boyfriend through the cellphone in the punch bowl (or whatever it was), I thought, "Oh, hello contrived plot device necessary to Allyson can't be warned about Michael." It wasn't believable how he just grabbed her thrown and threw it like that. Would have made more sense if it had fallen out while she was dancing and someone stepped on it, or something.

And I get having Laurie's granddaughter but the whole feminist subtext was dumb. I have no issue with feminism but MM NEVER targeted women in particular. He just went after people period. Who cares if three generation of women stand up - just run away already. At least, people in h4 and h5 had some logic to their actions.

It's just a pity that this trilogy went downhill so fast after this film.
Halloween 2018 was a decent film, and a return to form for the franchise.
Halloween Kills, despite it's flaws, did have some good moments. Especially the 1978 scene, and at least kept Michael Myers at the forefront.
Halloween Ends...I do respect the fact that something slightly different was attempted, and the "evil changes shape" motif... however, I would have liked it a lot more if it had been 95% Michael Myers, and 5% Corey. One of the only redeemable elements for me was that it definitively killed off Michael Myers, and we weren't subjected to the H20/Resurrection clothes switch twist.

H I and H II had no histrionics, which was a huge bonus. I couldn't abide Zombie's histrionics. They ruined what could have been other wise two very good horror films with interesting scripts. I'll been avoiding this. I wish H3 hadn't flopped. Carpenter's anthology plans sounded fantastic, and H 3 is grossly underrated.

I'm kinda hoping that if they make a sequel to this they switch to a new killer. I don't remember them showing the corpse of the Englishman so it'd be kinda cool if he came back as the new killer. The heavy breathing after the credits could be him in the hospital after getting himself completely rocked by Michael. He wouldn't be much of a threat through sheer size and strength but surely he'd know tactics used by killers.

Halloween 2 1981 is still the real sequel to the 1978 classic this is just a best of highlights to the original and it's stupid that they called it just Halloween without a subtitle so it feels like a remake not a sequel as there's now three outings simply called Halloween so you don't know if people are talking about the first movie the remake or this one in less you say the year its very annoying couldn't they bothered to put an undername on it calling it something like Halloween returns would've been perfect.
