Should have been called Halloween the Corey story Also in the Halloween 2018 reboot Laurie was prepared for Michael weaponised locked up paranoid about his return and Mikey was in prison Now in halloween ends Michael is on the loose no one knows where he is and Lauries just chilling carving pumpkins setting up her grand daughter in a stupid relationship
Granddaughter, her daughter was killed by Michael in Halloween Kills...which you'd think would make her more on guard and prepared to protect said Granddaughter but nope!
Laurie became too complacent in the four years between H:K and H:E. . The Laurie from 2018 would have been on guard while occasionally hunting for Michael. I thought the third film would have spun the scenario of Laurie and Allison searching for Michael.
I don’t understand what David Gordon green even wanted to accomplish with this trilogy. He just seemed to copy a lot from the older movies and then added some straight up bizarre plot elements.
@@brianmeen2158 They should have stopped with 2018 but it made too much money. You can see that with Kills but Ends is a special kind of odd. It really feels like they didn't have enough material to do three movies so they made half of a new movie and then tacked on the ending to 2018 lol
I distinctly remember having a little enthusiasm when I sat down to watch this Movie. About 30 minutes I was like “oh no” .. I could just tell it was not going to be good . Towards the end there were times where I tyy trt ugly thought This movie was terrible. What were they thinking when they wrote this?
Holy hell! I sympathize with Iain all the way! I felt his pain throughout this review! I'm a diehard Halloween fan myself, and this movie really upset me too! Every argument you guys made, I question it too! The plot of the movie isn't bad, Cory going from nice to evil and questioning what's evil and how it changes shape IS a good story to tell! BUT it's not what I (and many fans) wanted to see in a "finale" about "Michael Myers." Halloween II & Halloween H20 felt more like a Halloween finale than Ends was. Iain is also right about David Gordon Green directing another horror movie should never happen again. Hell, his new Exorcist film was even worst than Halloween Ends. The guy should really stop doing horror films and direct something else. This was one hell of a way to end the Halloween marathon guys! I'm sorry it didn't end with a good one. Maybe next year it'll be better. Happy Halloween guys! Thanks for ALL the Halloween content this month! YOU GUYS ROCK!!! 👊😎
The GOATS of movie reviews. Love you guys! Only thing I wish is that I could have a beer and just talk films with you boys. My mates dont want to hear it anymore 😅 Great review once again 👍
Halloween Kills and Halloween Ends were supposed to be filmed at the same time, but the lock downs stopped that. I refuse to believe that *_this_* was the script for Halloween Ends at that point. Something happened and everything changed! What happened???
One of my favorite scenes in this movie was after Mikey kills the doc and nurse and it cuts to Cory riding his bike with someone on the back. At first I thought Michael Meyer's was riding bitch on a motorcycle and laughed so hard my daughter had to pause the movie until i could get it together and explain what was so funny. But yeah Halloween 3 Season of the Witch was better than this Halloween 3/Christine/Stranger Things re imagining. Oh and the idea that Cory suddenly stops needing his glasses because he "transforms" is one of those troupes that gets deep under my skin.
This movie played one of my favourite songs at the end credits.....I still left the second the cards came up. My review was 8 seconds in my car just saying "people are gonna be f-king mad" and that was all I had to say
So after 40 years and 4 people killed in 1978, with Michael in prison, Laurie is paranoid and unable to move on with her life. After 4 years, after Micheal killed 50+ people, including her daughter, her son in law, not to mention that he was never captured Laurie is now relaxing and decides to move on. Like it is possible to dismiss a trauma so easily, just because you decide so. And worst than anything we are supposed to care about Corey. I really missed a point in my life since there are people making loads of money by writing incoherent, lazy, useless crap. And feeling geniuses about that.
Agreed Gary is literally watching Iain go for it 😂 and FFS why do we have trigger warnings these days? They were meant for seizures not to protect woke peoples feelings 😂
I expected it too, but it did just come out in theaters and hasn't been released yet, plus the boys do need to take time to evaluate it. I haven't seen it yet but I heard it was pretty darn good.
What a brilliant review to end a home run of great reviews this Halloween. Your work ethic has been off the charts! Many thanks to you both for bringing us top banter and insightful discussions in equal measure. Happy Halloween everyone! :)
Totally agree -- I've said it before, but these guys are my absolute TOP channel on RUclips. I look forward to having a new OTS Review in my queue, every Thursday!
They better take it back cause Ends makes Kills the fucking Citizen Kane of Halloween. Hell, THAT SHOULD'VE BEEN THE END. Michael always wins. Full stop.
I might catch some heat for this, but I actually enjoyed this film. I totally understand why most people hate it. I think if this story would have been introduced earlier in this trilogy it would have been received much better. Seeing the scenes of Michael struggling to kill people being too old to kill is quiet jarring. I personally loved JLC’s performance, it felt fresh and different to me. Too each their own, Happy Halloween and thanks for a great month of reviews! 🎃
The problem with this film, they built Myers up as this unkillable entity of evil that no matter what you do he keeps on coming, so the explanation on why he won’t die they completely drop in ends leaving that film too much of a spin-off film to even connect to H40 and kills. We not even gonna mention how Laurie’s character development is completely backwards, Laurie should be acting like her character in h40 in ends, wish they explored Laurie and Alice’s relationship breakdown in ends losing her parents driving Laurie to alcohol and building the house in ends not H40, because Myers is out there. But it’s H40 where Laurie should be a very happy married woman with a great relationship with her family is ripped apart by Myers in H40 and kills, and it’s Alice who hates Laurie in ends. So ends should be laurie preparing for Myers return, and wanting revenge Now Michael was shot 6 times, falls 20 feet off a house in 78, you look at the injuries he suffers in H40, and even more so in kills, by the time he kills the mob and Karen he’s taken on so much punishment you cannot backtrack to say he’s human, he’s taken on to much punishment to even defy logic that’s even a man anymore, and Gordon green is just defying logic trying this think his audience are plain stupid with his explanation in ends. He’s not human, and they needed to explain why he kept on killing, hell if they wanna do some twisted illogical dumb twist having Corey in it, they may is well have done some stupid sleepy hollow hocus pocus plot where Corey is doing some witch craft bs that he’s controlling Myers at this point he’s the puppet master, because he was supernatural in 78, H40 and kills There’s no way in hell in how they setup the ending to kills they came to the ends plot, they were setting something up and he changed his mind trying to clever for his own good. But it’s pretty obvious he woke one morning an idea like this popped into his head, because ends just does not connect well with H40 and kills
Agree the writing was just very inconsistent and I still don’t understand the version of Michael they gave us. He gets evil energy from killing people and when he isn’t he is hibernating in the sewer just awaiting for someone to come along to kill. Yet there’s a homeless guy that’s camped outside and was perfectly fine..?
Bro, Michael wasn't in the movie. He was only in the head of Corey and Laurie. Everyone in this movie was killed by Corеy. And yes, it doesn't work as a trilogy. This is an independent film.
Finally two dudes that get it. This is the top two trash Halloween movie. Only in today’s society will people say oh I like it because it’s different FOH
I don't know how many reviews you guys have give us, but, I have been watching everyone, and all off you podcast's until the recent one! guys, this one is for you.... --->👍
Oh boy... well, after a month of Saw from its highs of Saw 1 to 6... to the lows of 7 to Spiral.... it's fitting to end it on the end of Halloween, with Halloween Ends... and man, knowing the first reboot was good, second was eh.... could this end be the end for our shelf boys? I certainly hope not. Be waiting, and hope you guys make it through this one. Shelf fan 4 life Ryan, signing out.
It was just such a baffling way to end a trilogy. -Focusing on a new guy that the audience had never met and had no reason to care about. GGs on the Saw reviews guys! And now a 1 hour 20 minute review. Of a Halloween film. On Halloween. You’re spoiling us at the moment! Amazing work. Cheers 👍🏻
1:13 , that's what I was expecting to occur. Not as sequel bait, but as a connection to the ending of Halloween (1978). I mean that film was originally a one off.
Making this movie they had good ideas, and the concept of exploring evil is not bad, however, they went too much for it, and put aside what this movie should be about, the final clash of Michael and Laurie and the final chapter of the trilogy, is understandable how audiences got upset with this movie that has very little of Halloween going on
They did a poor job of explaining that evil though . Plus I never thought I’d see Michael Myers training a younger student or “zapping” him with his evil power. It was just dumb
I definitely enjoy the industrial grinder as part of the ending but I think it would have been more satisfactory as to have Michael about to toss the granddaughter in as a kill and her unmasking him and we all get to see his face finally and Lori comes out of nowhere to tackle him into the grinder together putting an end to both of their stories together
I believe what Ian is referring to, is the age old debate of nurture vs nature. Was he made into a monster, or was the monster always there, somewhere below the surface, weak, but feeding on all the suffering and humiliation untill it was stronger.
Lets address the fact that Alison is still going to the community college and her friend of Slash co-worker is is somewhat older than her IE not a student so even if the doctor wasn't sleeping with her she would probably be the one promoted anyway
I was really looking forward to seeing where they were going with the story thread of "Michael goes to that window but maybe he wasn't looking out, maybe he was looking in" but that was never finished 🙄
I'm glad to be one of the die-hard Halloween fans that really enjoyed this film. Annoyingly a lot of plot gripes mentioned in this review can be explained in the novelisation of the film. But I understand that can't justify the plotholes in film form.
Thank you guys for doing a halloween review! Top notch as always! 👍Happy Halloween guys!!👻🤡 What was with the kid hitting the floor? LOL! You really worked hard this month, the Saw-movies, a new podcast, an ending with a Halloween-movie! Great job guys! 👍
I just finished watching all of The Howling movies. And watched your reviews for all the films. I just finished The Howling: Reborn and went to watch your review.....but there isn't one! How can you review all but the final film? Please go back and watch and review it lol
This movie is the most divisive Halloween 'sequel' since Rob Zombie's H2. That film was hated by 95% of the fans, and loved by the rest...including me! And guess what? Rinse and repeat. I cant do into all the reasons I really like this movie because it would become a full blown essay, but I really, really like this movie! Instead of just watching Michael walking around town doing the same old stuff, we have something very different, which I personally was crying out for. And strangely enough, the fact that it was so different, made me appreciate Halloween Kills more, because that one was the purest of slashers. The whole franchise has now become "chose your own adventure", and I love that too, even though I don't like every timeline. My 3 favourite Halloween films are Season of the Witch, Rob Zombie's H2, and this one - closely followed by the original (honestly). Having said all that, you're right in that this would have been better as the middle part of the trilogy. But I just love it when filmmakers take a wild swing. I gave this 8 out of 10. My biggest criticism is that they didn't go far enough with this movie. When Corey goes back for the mask, he should have killed Michael, and then put him in the pokada de pokada machine. He then becomes Michael, goes on his killing spree, and finally kills Laurie...at last! Then we're left with the aftermath. Allison leaves town, Hawkins grieves, and Corey is missing. He's still out there. Somewhere. Then Laurie's voiceover tells us that evil never dies, it just changes shape. Hard cut, end credits. 10 out of 10. The title still holds true however. Halloween really does end for both Michael and Laurie, but evil itself never dies. For me, that would make it 10 out of 10. Halloween Ends was actually fairly close to John Carpenter's concept for the original Part 2, which endears it to me even more. I've written too much already, and I haven't even scratched the surface of all the reasons I like this movie. By the way guys, this was actually a great review. I just don't agree with your conclusions. Everyone's entitled to their opinions, so in that spirit I'll sign off with wisdom and compromise. All you people out there who don't like this movie, you're all heathens. Bloody heathens 😀😀😀
What is there disagree even if we ignore the bad direction, there's huge flaws in script. Yes you can like it but to pretend it's good movie is laughable.
Great review. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 I'm with you, man. My 3 favourite Halloween movies are "Halloween II" (1981), "Halloween 3: Season of the Witch" & "Halloween Ends".
@@supoa9489To each his one. The OG was good only with the atmosphere and Loomis (everything else in the movie was bad), but you're all pretending it's best movie ever made.
Halloween Kills and Halloween Ends were the most disappointing horror movies I've ever seen. Halloween Ends is essentially about this completely new character Corey and Michael Myers is nowhere to be seen in the entire movie, the end. A disgusting finale in this failed trilogy. Laurie is non-existent in this movie and Allison is just hurt and horny. Whoever wrote the script for this movie should be fired forever and reprimanded for creating such a horrible film, it's that bad.
Nearly 2 years later, I still HATE HATE HATE HAAAAAAAATTTEEEE HALLOWEEN ENDS!!! I can't understand why it has Any Fans at all. Awesome Review/ RANT Guys!!!😀
Just have Michael come back on Halloween, burn through some kills , kill Allison and then have a final battle with Laurie. End of story. No hobo Meyers
I really loved this movie right up until they killed Corey. Really thought they were rounding out the Michael story while setting up a new character to take over the mantle, but nope.
I'm really not a fan of this film You know what would've been more interesting? If Michael actually did lock Corey in the attic and kill the kid, making it look like Corey did it. Then Michael slowly manipulates Corey's life - messing with him from the shadows to 'create' a new killer like him - instead of ridiculous circumstances and coincidences and nebulous questions like, 'what is evil?'. What is evil? Evil is when someone commits an evil act. This isn't rocket science. They figured this crap out thousands of years ago.
Hey guy, Gary & Iain . Love the dedication and facts you bring. Also the passion you guys show. I have a little bit of sad things. Just found out I have colon cancer stage 4 ,15 month to live , i am going to try fight this evil disease with all I got, but wanted to request a couple reviews on my favorite films, hopefully if y’all have time to put on schedule you could. Frozen (2010) , House of Wax (2005) , Texas chainsaw beginning (2006) & Star Wars New hope (1977). take care guys
I understand when he says Corey is being pushed towards Evil....but that's not how it works! Watch the Good Son...some kids are born evil there is no need to be pushed! It pulls you in!
SPOILER ALERT: I don't hate this movie like a lot of people seem to. Actually, I thoroughly enjoyed it up until the part where Corey dies. It made his entire character arc pointless. All to do a last minute Laurie vs. Michael standoff. I like this movie, at least the first two acts of it. It seemed like they were going somewhere really interesting, and then they went nowhere.
One of the most laughable pieces of trash I've ever wasted money on. Laurie going from a borderline alcoholic PTSD victim to a pumpkin carving, Halloween loving Martha Stewart clone was a fucking joke! And don't get me started on the most ridiculous love story ever written! 😂 Corey the gimp hooking up with Laurie's granddaughter in the space of a couple of days makes "Twilight" look good FFS! Clearly written by simpletons for simpletons to swallow. Not only that, but it's a shameless rip-off of "Christine". I mean "Halloween:Resurrection" was as bad as they come, but at least it had at least one original idea with the whole internet broadcast. That was something which could have worked if only the characters were better written & the scares were better executed. The last thing I want is a sequel to "Resurrection", but I'd rather subject myself to that again than sit through another Scumhouse movie.
I swear to god, if I see one more RUclipsr say they somehow like this: the very obviously worst sequel in the series; I'm gonna go on a fucking rampage.
I love and own 7 dvds out of the 13 films in this franchise, and I despise all the others (honestly!). My dvds are; Halloween 1978, Season of the Witch, Rob Zombie's Parts 1 and 2, and the David Gordon Green trilogy. And if that isn't an indictment against dropping too much acid back in the 1980's, then I don't know what is! 👽👽
I imagine Michael Myers met the Ninja Turtles while living in the sewers, befriended them, and had exciting adventures.
😂
Ians rant about babysitting is scarier than this film 🍿
Absolutely but its so entertaining! I actually brace myself when i know the rant is coming lol
That rant was simply just dump…

Terminator 3, avp
Amazing Spider 2, Dumb and Dumberer. Both times I sat thinking, “what the hell am I doing here?”
I'm pretty much done with paying to see lame sequels and re-makes..... don't encourage these studios by giving them money.
God willing we'll all meet again in Halloween: The Search for More Money.

Bad films usually bring about the most entertaining film reviews
Halloween Kills and Halloween Ends were supposed to be filmed at the same time, but the lock downs stopped that. I refuse to believe that *_this_* was the script for Halloween Ends at that point. Something happened and everything changed! What happened???
Maybe a new effort at "deconstructing" the Halloween myth played a role.
What do you think? Entitled chil...I mean "highly talented writers" "improved" it...
Always said if the trilogy was thought out before hand, Corey could have been built up through the movies.
What a great send off to this Halloween special. Thanks guys! For bringing an amazing October with the Saw reviews. Have a Happy Halloween Shelfers!

Iain went all out beast mode just in the beginning of the film alone 😂😂😂
They said in the beginning that Corey just started doing the babysitting gig. He wasn't an established babysitter and never watched that kid before.
So happy to see this on my RUclips tonight.
I like how it mirrors the original Halloween 3 with the blue titles

I definitely enjoy the industrial grinder as part of the ending but I think it would have been more satisfactory as to have Michael about to toss the granddaughter in as a kill and her unmasking him and we all get to see his face finally and Lori comes out of nowhere to tackle him into the grinder together putting an end to both of their stories together
I believe what Ian is referring to, is the age old debate of nurture vs nature. Was he made into a monster, or was the monster always there, somewhere below the surface, weak, but feeding on all the suffering and humiliation untill it was stronger.
Just think, they are now going to make a tv series based on the Halloween universe 😳
Watched this once, haven't watched it since, won't watch it ever again.
Happy Halloween...as long as you aren't watching this.
!!!
I agree with Ian on the kid thing but it only a movie
I've been waiting for this for a long time. Thank you so much.
Boy, that Iian...
He's an excitable fella, aint he? ❤
Love you, guys! Happy Halloween!
The doctor is setup in the 2nd film as a creepy guy. The black doctor/nurse couple mentions him
I'm glad to be one of the die-hard Halloween fans that really enjoyed this film. Annoyingly a lot of plot gripes mentioned in this review can be explained in the novelisation of the film. But I understand that can't justify the plotholes in film form.
That's good and well even to causal fans it's not a good film.
I skipped this because kills was such a letdown.
The writers had to be taking the piss. Laurie and Corey? Silly enough with Arthur and Martha from The Beyond.
I just finished watching all of The Howling movies. And watched your reviews for all the films. I just finished The Howling: Reborn and went to watch your review.....but there isn't one! How can you review all but the final film? Please go back and watch and review it lol
If Corey went against the push to make him a killer and he saved the day I would’ve actually appreciated the movie

Stopped reading after the essay part when I realised this was an essay of a person with no clue what they're talking about.
Great review. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I'm with you, man.
!!!!!
Ian, where did you get that T-Shirt Brother? I need one of those. Very cool.
Nearly 2 years later, I still HATE HATE HATE
HAAAAAAAATTTEEEE HALLOWEEN ENDS!!!
I can't understand why it has Any Fans at all.
Awesome Review/ RANT Guys!!!😀
It's my birthday! Halloween will never end!
Thanks for suffering through this so that I don't have to!
Don't address David Gordon Green directly, Iain. It ain't worthy. He's a hack director that's just destroying horror franchises.
Just have Michael come back on Halloween, burn through some kills , kill Allison and then have a final battle with Laurie.
End of story.
No hobo Meyers
I have been waiting to hear you both on this movie..lol..you did not disappoint Happy Halloween 🎃 😜 😉 🤪 thank you as always❤😊
1:14:04 I totally agree with Iain 100%
I really loved this movie right up until they killed Corey. Really thought they were rounding out the Michael story while setting up a new character to take over the mantle, but nope.
Hi Gary. Did you think this was worse or better than Halloween kills?
Happy Halloween 👻
I'm really not a fan of this film
You know what would've been more interesting? If Michael actually did lock Corey in the attic and kill the kid, making it look like Corey did it. Then Michael slowly manipulates Corey's life - messing with him from the shadows to 'create' a new killer like him - instead of ridiculous circumstances and coincidences and nebulous questions like, 'what is evil?'.
What is evil? Evil is when someone commits an evil act. This isn't rocket science. They figured this crap out thousands of years ago.
I don’t think I’ve ever actually watched any Halloween movies. I’ve never appealed to me and I was expecting you to rip this one a new one
John
Stay frosty, stay strong and may the.force be with you Super Shelfer 👊👊 much love Iain & Gary
@@iainbuckingham8257I’m trying brother , thank you for the support and thank you for what you do.
Fan of the channel here I wanted to send you prayers and good vibes 🙏 stay strong love frozen and your list great movies!
I would also like to send prayers 🙏 and good vibes your way, wishing you all the best john 👊
I think I have only seen the 1st and 3rd halloween films more than a few times each and I'll see them both again before I die. No regrets.
Could you also do a review on ''AMITYVILLE 3-D'' ? It's been 40 years.
I understand when he says Corey is being pushed towards Evil....but that's not how it works! Watch the Good Son...some kids are born evil there is no need to be pushed! It pulls you in!
SPOILER ALERT:
I don't hate this movie like a lot of people seem to.
AGREE!!!!!!
Happy halloweeeeeen everyone! 🎃☠️
I swear to god, if I see one more RUclipsr say they somehow like this: the very obviously worst sequel in the series; I'm gonna go on a fucking rampage.
I am loathe to say this, but even Rob Zombie's Halloween 2 is better than this s**t.
Damn it’s just a movie chill lol I mean there are movies out there that I don’t like and i just move on and think about other things lol
I still think there's direct parallels between this trilogy and the newest star wars trilogy in structure and quality
shelf life! ❤
You just bet me 😂 well done
Love your reviews. Please do the new Hellraiser Reboot review. ❤
Thank you gents, I've been waiting on this one for awhile and it did not disappoint! I hate this fucking movie and your review is total catharsis.
Happy Halloween guys 🎃🔪
I'm so glad this trilogy is over. I just hope the Friday the 13th movie and TV series will be good.
