Chariots of Fire (1980) Official Trailer - Ian Holm, Ben Cross Running Movie HD
This inspirational film won four Academy Awards, taking top honors as Best Picture and the Golden Globe Award for Best Foreign Film. This Classic look at the competitive spirit features two runners competing for Olympic glory in their own fashion and for their own separate reasons. The Oscar-winning score by Vangelis ("Blade Runner") perfectly complements the extraordinary performances and engaging story.

This movie gave us one of the most iconic scores in cinema history
"I believe God made me for a purpose, but he also made me fast. And when I run I feel His pleasure." Eric Liddell
Why does that sound blasphemous to me? 😂 gross
Eric Henry Liddell said that because he ran for the glory of God and used his gift to its fullest.
I believe Hod made me fir a purpose but he also made me fast.” Eric Liddell
Beautiful ❤️
R.I.P. to the wonderful Ben Cross.
He was a delightful character actor
Dr Andrew Manson in The Citadel. I well remember the theme tune watching that story!
Everything in this film is perfect: the editing, the soundtrack, the performances, if all this were not enough, a script with a deep human history.
My mother has been an enthusiast of British filmmaking her entire life. I was 10 years old when this film came out and she graciously took me to see it. I didn't know a thing about it but, I fondly remember watching this and just feeling the tension and excitement slowly building. Yes, we had Star Wars and Jaws and several other seminal films before "Chariots Of Fire" but, it was indeed this film that made me believe in the power and possibilities of film and the cinema. I'd never watched a track meet in my life and yet...here was a film centered around a sport I knew nothing about and it was absolutely captivating. Now, 40 years later it still holds up. Man against man, man against self, man against...God? It's timeless.
Just like most, I was enthralled when I saw Raiders in the Summer of '81, and appreciated its filmmaking. However, during my Christmas break later that year, I saw Chariots of Fire basically on a whim, something to do I guess. When it was over, I had no idea it would later win the Best Picture Oscar, but I knew, I had seen the best film of the year!!
perfect trailer. you see happiness, cheering, running ... no plot reveal. Great music. Left with listening to the reviews of actual FILM CRITICS (not the peanut gallery) - to then go to the theatre to make your own opinion about the film as opposed to knowing EVERY little detail about it. What a concept ;)
Going to respectfully disagree. Love the movie, watched the original in the theater when it was released. But... this is quite possibly the most boring trailer I've ever seen. Yes, the music is nice. But if you've never seen this, it shows nothing about what the movie is about. This is where we disagree; that's really the purpose of a trailer.
Best
RIP Ben Cross - you will not be forgotten. I hope you have wings on your heels🌞🙏🇬🇧🌞2020.
I used to live in a small village famous for the almond tree and its white fruits in western Saudi Arabia, and in the spring season my village smells of flowers and I used to hear this music from a height overlooking that beautiful village. It is a feeling that cannot be described to anyone.
Rip Ian Holm 1931-2020 and Rip Ben Cross they are 2 months apart
Hollywood, please don't attempt to remake Chariots of Fire. Please leave it alone. Thanks.
Yeah the main character would be a queer pansexual disabled woman of color getting back to her native american roots...OR something
I think I heard that song on every trailer from the 80s
Hard to believe that next year will be the 100th anniversary of these events….and Paris will be hosting the Olympics again. How serendipitous!

Watching this today on the death of Sir Iam Holm. RIP Legend ❤❤
He is a great actor and I remember him from the Disney Pixar film Ratatouille, Lord of War with Nic Cage and The Day After Tomorrow
RIP Ben Cross and Ian Holm
I remember Ian Holm from Ratatouille, Lord of War and The Day After Tomorrow
@@stefanmovieflixtomasi I've watched all those movies and I just didn't notice him. I rewatched The Aviator and I spotted him in that I'm sure. I will always remember him for Alien, Brazil, Time Bandits, The Fifth Element and The Hobbit.

Hard to believe this movie is 41 years old
Favorite movie of all time !
My most favorite film.
God I love the narrator from back then🥺
It's weird to think that Paris in 2024 is now hosting the olympics, exactly 100 years ago after Paris last held them in 1924 (where the film takes place).
I came here bc I’ve heard that song in every movie or trailer almost
V A N G E L I S
This film was released 1981 not the year before.
I was just watching the crown and ended up here
Me too. I been looking for the comments lol
Ah 1980, good old days!
Grande Ben Cross
🙏🙏🙏🌟
Looks like Vangelis has left the building
Opening tag line written by Dale Spina, late Vice President of Creative Advertising for Warner Bros. Pictures.
Mark Elliott, most well known for being the voice of Disney for many years.
I personally wish he would've done voice-over advertisements and promotions for *Star Wars*, *Harry Potter*, *Power Rangers*, *Indiana Jones*, and at least be a documentary narrator.
Voice over artists are hired by others; they don't choose which films they want to promote. Are you certain Mark Elliot has not done narration work?
I'm sure he has, just not documentaries for like the History Channel or National Geographic.
Perhaps not. But again, he has to be hired to do so. The choice is seldom up to voice actors to pick their clients.
Now , I Just know that Olympic's London ad (with Mr Bean in it) based on this movie.
I'm here after watching the tender heart dad tiktok.
Well, it is hard to accept it is 40 years old
Hard to accept that I’m 40
46 next week. 😳
Respectfully, it's a timeless film and a timeless story. The only reason it looks old is because it's a period piece. If you remade it today and reset it in the modern day, it would still hold up.
I thought this movie came out in 1981?
Vangelis the founder of Electronic Manifestation Music.
0:19- Oh hey, it's the song from National Lampoon's Vacation.
0:53- Sorry, I only trust the word of Dan Aykroyd's brother Peter. Oh wait, wrong Peter Aykroyd. I'm thinking of The Spectator film critic Peter Ackroyd, who gave this film a negative review. Legendary actor Anthony Quinn liked it though.
Bilbo worked in this movie?
Future requirement for those planning to post positive reviews of the film 'Chariots of Fire':-
compare and contrast with the film 'Loneliness of the long distance runner' giving particular attention to how each realistically portray the social tensions, class divisions and social inequalities that existed in the UK in the periods in which they are set. Topics such as compulsory enforcement of rules of Sabbath observance could also be included as well as the missionary activity abroad of religious sects and prevailing views of the standing of other nationalities (Italians, Libyans etc)
Saw this trailer due to a viet biography "Sign, Gone"😭😭😭
Great stuff
La mejor película de deportes
The pitch is too high in this copy of the trailer.
60 hz
I m here because of Mr Bean ( Rowan Atkinson ) and Bruce Almighty ( Jim Carrey ).....
Also, Madagascar I
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Hit like if you came here after watching The Crown.
In my opinion this movie is Better than Dead Poets Society, that left me feeling like crap at the end !
Who's here because of the crown??
Not until watching this season (5) of The Crown did I ever know Mohammed and Dodi Al Fayed financed this movie.
The film no one saw but every knows the soundtrack
"no one" ? are you sure?
The film that everyone who loves films saw
Err, a film 'no one saw' went on to win the Oscar!
wait! where is Mr. Bean?
🔥
Thanks for the inspiration and the encouragement!!
0:51 🔥💘🎬

Mr Bean in the Olympics
Huh?
I come here bcus Mr. Bean
That trailer sucked!
Those were times where trailers sucked and movies rocked, just the opposite as now...
@@LautaroTessi nah i think its the same now, trailers are horrible (depending on the genre)
Well you didnt have to form your own opinion in those times, the narrator told exactly what the movie Will make you feel.
why does it say 1980 the movie came out in 2012
2012 is a dumpy remake
brove.
The only thing memorable or even remarkable about this movie is the original score.
such a rubbish trailer
Possibly one of the most boring movies I ever saw. I was 11 when I had to sit through this catastrophe of a movie. To be fair, I re-watched a few days ago. It's still boring as hell.
R.I.P Champion.
Everything is for You Glory ho God.
This trailer offers absolute NOTHING. Except an annoying narrator telling us how great the movie is, How about an actual trailer, so we can decide ourselves.
