    Your reasoning is much more sensible than many other more famous RUclipsrs. The way you expose is also really appreciable. I hope you will continue on this road. Good luck 😊

      Thanks so much Eric, that means a lot! Yeah, I'm trying to take a totally different approach with this stuff. It's seriously just a hobby, obviously nothing close to my full-time job at this point, but for decades I did do professional product reviews, mostly on the side, but it was a paid gig-everything from laptops to video games. I've been around the block on the stuff and one of my pet peeves is how people tend to miss the forest for the trees when they do product reviewing. They spend so much time on benchmarks, hypotheticals, regurgitating PR and press materials, and that sort of thing, that they completely miss the big picture, as well as the unmentionable minutia that matters to the common user of the product. Partially out of laziness and partially out of lack of necessity due to the saturation of this type of content already, I'm not going to be doing a lot of benchmarking and that sort of thing, but mostly real world impressions from someone who knows what to look for. Not even sure what else I'm going to review yet, but I'm playing around with stuff so we'll see how it goes. Hope to have you along for the ride. Thanks for watching! :-)

      @@OtherSteve You can really tell, and it’s very much appreciated, that you analyze less obvious and more meaningful aspects. That’s exactly what a reviewer should be doing, but unfortunately, as you said, the majority just repeats the product’s spec sheet. If I may add, the trend around health, body awareness, and the whole range of related products (from wearables onwards) is growing and will have significant impact in the coming years. I’ll be happy to see which direction you decide to take, and I wish you good luck again with this hobby of yours 😊

    Not sure if anyone has mentioned (or if you already figured it out), but I’m assuming the weight range quotes that seem off are because there are new rings on the low and high end. I don’t think they ever say the new rings are “lighter”. They just give the range that fits the new range of rings. 6:20

    I purchased mine with the sizing kit & currently awaiting for its arrival! I wanted to test it out before I get one for my husband. This is my first Oura purchase so I’m very excited
    I had just one quick question- do you think I can still wear the ring during a hot yoga class? I know it’s supposed to be waterproof but I’m scared the heat might mess with the sensing?
    Thanks for such an informative video!

    • @OtherSteve
      @OtherSteve  3 месяца назад

      According to the documentation it should be able to hold up just fine. You can wear it in hot tubs, and all sorts of other environments, but if the ambient temperature exceeds 140° F for an extended period of time it can cause damage to the battery reportedly. I doubt hot yoga gets that hot, lol, but maybe I'm mistaken

    Thanks for the video. Does the Oura 4 track oxygen saturation all day or at certain intervals during the day? if so, did you find it to be accurate?

    • @OtherSteve
      @OtherSteve  3 месяца назад

      Only during sleep, and as far as I can tell, it seems relatively accurate anyway. I suspect they could probably patch this in so that it happens throughout the day as well, but there would definitely be a hit to battery life, as there is already one indicated when you enable the feature during sleep.

    Did you choose the size based on your previous Oura ring or did you order the Oura ring 4 sizing kit?

    • @OtherSteve
      @OtherSteve  3 месяца назад +4

      I ordered the sizing kit. It's tricky because your fingers really do change size throughout the day. I was going to downsize, but I just decided to stick with the size 10 after all. It's just a little bit too tight on a size 9 when my fingers are larger. Maybe no one else has his problem. Lol

    • @dazzaclark
      @dazzaclark 3 месяца назад +2

      @@OtherSteve thanks. I’ve been wearing the size 8 and it’s slightly too small (quite difficult to take off over my knuckle especially in the morning…it’s impossible to get it off). The 9 however is too loose…it came off during the night. I’ve been trying other sizes on my index and middle finger and I’m not sure it suits me. Wearing it on my index finger looks better than the middle finger but I’d have to wear it on my left hand like you, otherwise it gets in the way which annoyed me 🤯. So perhaps if I order the 8 it’ll be a tad looser which is a good thing. Really good video btw 👍

      @@OtherSteve Thanks for the great direct and honest review! A lot of people do have that sizing problem with being in between two sizes and/or struggling with swollen fingers and big knuckles. Soap and water help a bit to get the ring off and what I often do is that I switch to another finger which is slightly slimmer. So I guess you could wear your ring on your right middle finger and when it's sometimes to swollen, then switch to your left index finger. But I really wish Oura would make half sizes.

    • @xuxuxicht
      @xuxuxicht 3 месяца назад +2

      Oh, or if you would choose to downsize, you could maybe switch between your left index finger and a smaller finger like the right ring finger maybe? That's what I sometimes do 🙃

    I’m struggling to decide on the best size. 12 is ok on the index finger but seems tighter in the morning, I can move it another finger which is ok. 13 is comfortable on my index finger but loose on all others. So hard to decide. It’s winter here but i do often travel to warm climates. Anyone else have tips?

  • @Kyle_w

    If you run the finger on the egge of the ring can you feel the seal between the inner ring and outer ring? There are a few posts on reddit saying the seal came off and you can feel the "sharp" edge of the ring? Can you feel the material difference on the edges?

    • @OtherSteve
      @OtherSteve  3 месяца назад +2

      I actually can feel this on both sides-but it's subtle and I don't necessarily think it's a problem (aesthetically or ergonomically, anyway). Not sure how it bodes for the overall durability of the design however.

    What's your take on the rubber seal detaching issue

    • @OtherSteve
      @OtherSteve  2 месяца назад +1

      Well, for starters, I don't love the idea of there being a rubber seal at all. But all I can say is that my replacement has not had any issues. I have to assume it was some sort of issue with a limited number of rings. I'll be sure to keep everyone updated though.

      The ring is too big for you. You should size down

    • @OtherSteve

    • @saintjmv04
      @saintjmv04 3 месяца назад

      @@GGGG1040 I agree that size 10 seems a bit too large for your index/pointer finger. Middle finger may be the way to go as @OtherSteve mentioned below. I tried the middle finger (I wear it on my index finger), but it scratches all over my phone when holding it with one hand.

    you mean Horizon model, not heritage
    Heritage has the "flat top" that you were referring to

      Right, I captioned the correction in the upper left. I started with Heritage, switched to Horizon, then to 4.
