"Sincere" is quite a generous word, considering at Oura gen 3 launch pretty much all marketing from them and influencers paid by them was hiding the fact there is a monthly subscription that paywalls several features. Only price of the ring was mentioned. Scamming of customers at its prime!

Love this, have one myself. I appreciate that he is willing to show he still wears Apple wearable and commit to knowing their service is not to replace that type of wearable, but while also being fully confident that their ring is the most accurate for sleep, etc. I dont love the revenue dynamic of a large up front cost ($350) and a monthly recurring charge for the service and app. I think it’s OK for me to be disappointed by that. The initial $350 should at least grant you 2 years of the service, not 1month.

I am still reluctant to buy the Oura ring due to the fact that there is a subscription and you cannot measure your blood oxygen during the day either manually or at certain intervals! It is only measured during your sleep. I get that they are keeping an eye on battery life, but at least offer an ability to measure it manually.

@@YambouSVG It's not the matter of affording a products or not. It's insulting to charge a premium price for a product "Rental" you paid a premium. WIthout subscription the ring is simply a paper weight. This means if the ring last a lifetime (which it won't) you have to continue paying for the ring. The only people i know do this are the cable companies and people despise them and have stop using cable services. it's a dead end business strategy. People find it greedy and insulting.
After Samsung announced its ring, I was going to buy it. Then then, i read a lot of review, opinions and finally chose Oura. Because it is not only about hardware, but software that do some analysing, prediction, advise. And Samsung app cannot be compared to Oura. Same with Apple watch. The apple watch is one of the most precise device. But it fails to present data in a convenient way. I hope that with IOS18 they would change it. So, for now, my choice is Oura ring, of course I dont like subscription, but Samsung is 100$ more expensive, so you can actually get the benefit only after 18 month.
Oura listen to us customers and get rid of the subscription. Oura is very aware that its customers don’t like paying a high price for a device, then paying a subscription on top of it just to be able to materially use the product.
Hi, For many people, the subscription seems to be a reason not to buy the product, as we need subscriptions for everything these days. However, as a business owner, it’s not just about profit but about ensuring the continuous improvement of the product and services. With a product like this, there’s also research into health data involved, and in this case, I can actually understand the need for it. Additionally, there are competing products without a subscription, but in my experience, the software and accuracy tend to be the issues with those.
I hated it for the first couple of months as well but then thought it should lead to new app features and not selling my data. Facebook, RUclips and instagram is free because they sell our data. I hope Oura doesn’t sell ours.
Agree I don’t love that so much of tech is moving to a subscription model, I understand why they would do that from a business POV but I don’t think it’s what’s best for the user
I actually picked the Oura ring and I was thinking whether to just go with the Oura Ring or also buy the Apple Watch and the Whoop to make a comparison post.

LET'S BE REAL!! Nice interview but let's be honest. Their days are numbered. I bet money on it. Now that Samsung has a pretty compelling ring out In fact they sold so many that they're adding another 600,000 to production. That's a million rings and a million less than Oura would have sold. Very few people are going to jump on their ring when they can stay in the same ecosystem and not pay a monthly fee. Samsung may charge a fee in the future but regardless I bet they still offer more than this company In front of the paywall. Next he's trying to suck it up to Apple saying that Samsung was trying to play catch up with Apple. That's because now that's going to have to be their main market but let's face it Apple will have a ring out in the next year or two and that will be that. Apple is not going to support this company's ring over theirs. He's talking about good to have competition but I bet that room smells like poop from what he's spewed in his pants. I bet the hope was one day Apple would just buy them. I bet this guy and shareholders were counting on getting a huge payday from a buyout. That dream is dead. I'm not laughing I'm just looking at this as another teaching moment. He literally just made a commercial for the benefits of buying a Samsung ring. The reason why you would have a watch and a ring. Yep, he probably should have a traditional watch. Once Apple does a ring, the majority of Oura’s customer base will disappear overnight. The iOS integration will be superior. Oura’s best bet is to get bought out by Apple though I doubt that happens. Big tech always wins.
Why these Oura Guys so Apple fixed? There are lot of Android Users out there and also similar products so competition is much harder in that area! I'love to have my oura, however I really see not the point why we should stay back and get interesting features late ... Imho apple is loosing innovation...
They should really implement a “fidget charger” If the ring spun I’d be spinning that all day long. If you could generate power from that I don’t think half of us would ever need to take it off to charge lol.
I’m definitely interested in one of these rings,But I’m on a fitness kick and I’m losing a ton of weight…What if I buy a ring then lose more weight to where the ring is loose what then. Do I have to buy a whole new ring every time this happens🤔That seem a bit ridiculous

Personally, I love Oura. The health stats and accuracy are second to none. I likely won't get a Galaxy ring since Oura is more established in that field and provides more data.

I think most Oura users can afford this fee so it’s a non issue when deciding to buy

Oura needs to drop the monthly charge. A bunch of us are leaving oura for different platforms that have no charge.
