- It's a sad sad day sports fans....the event of the year has been cancelled due to terrible -ish weather. It's been wet and windy and an emotional roller coaster...come along for finals day with lada man and crew and hopefully this gives you some insight at what went on today and behind the scenes....

Every one looking at the course and then BK starts sending blind and passing people going 50km/h and hitting 27m jumps in the wet. This is the love of the sport, thank you for keeping that spirit alive.
I can see why he was annoyed it was canceled with how he was able to ride it but the skill difference he has here compared to other riders is huge. I think they should put up the prize money for him because no one else even rode the whole track.
Bernard's ridden the course a shitloads more than the rest of the guys so of course he feels more comfy doing full runs.
Everyone's going: "it's too wet and windy".
BK: "hold my beer".

i can't even describe the feelings i had while watching his run down. insane³
Especially considering what happened last year. I had a pretty gnarly crash on a 20ft drop just over a year ago and it wasn't until just this past weekend at Highland Bike Park when I had enough confidence to start riding the way I used to ... And the stuff I'm riding isn't even remotely close to hardline (obviously). Bernard's confidence is unmatched!
My sphincter puckered when you were on the wood ramp heading for the road gap. I could FEEL the slick wet wood in my feet. Incredible skill and courage!
For you to fully send the features despite the torrential weather is just madman material. You have massive balls BK. Respect.

Silver linings: At least there were a few good days to ride the course and it wasn't just a week of crap weather. A number of new riders came to the event and had the opportunity to ride the entire course. Even without a race, this is still the gnarliest event of the year. Everyone went home safe and in one piece. Everyone will be back again next year. Really seems like you are on it mate and I'm sure you will carry that on to the next race.

Yes exactly, haters gonna hate that they're not gonna see their favorite rider make a podium but at least everyone gets home safe. In these conditions it's a recipe for big injuries.
Hardline is one of our favorite events of the year so sad it has been canceled hitting stuff this big is dangerous enough put in these sort of conditions it’s a one-way ticket to the Pearly gates Red Bull have done the right thing The safety of the rides is paramount although A wet Field with a trials course built onto it and alcohol is not exactly safe either looked sick tho lol
People often use the term a bit too lightly, but in this case Bernard, you really are a true legend in our sport and bring joy to a lot of people!

I think BK knew he was the form rider this year and wanted to get the dub for his sponsors and for himself. New pivot bike is too sick, BK is riding great and Hardline suits him well. I'd be gutted if I was him. Probably the right decision to cancel though. Would hate to see major injuries from unlucky winds on those huge jumps. Could happen to anybody too - getting lucky or unlucky with the wind isn't skill.

They need to prep some of the older lines that don’t have so much airtime next year so that if conditions are bad they can be used in place of the newer stuff.
Yeah I agree with you if it was a normal. WC track it would’ve gone ahead despite the wet weather just ask Danny heart he knows how to put a storming run in the wet 2011 springs to mind But with all these enormous features it’s not safe

I just had massive pangs of nostalgia seeing Rob Warner. He, along with Jason McRoy, were my heroes back in the day. It's amazing to see how far DH bikes and the racing has come over the years since I was a teenager. UK grass roots racing was brilliant and being able to shred the same track along side Rob, Jason, Steve etc was incredible.

mixed feelings about this.. bernard promotes himself as an advocate for rider safety but when the event organisers are trying to ensure rider safety then bernard is being difficult 🤔

@mattie1da21 it's more dangerous to be standing around freezing all day then try race, you trued holding onto bars with freezing cold hands and arms while also trying to ride the hardest dh track there is.

@@mattie_worldI absolutely agree with you! Bernard is a legend for sending those jumps in the wet, but look at the other riders. None of them felt as comfortable as Bernard. Just because he is an absolute maddog doesn‘t mean other have to risk it as well. Seems like he lacked some empathy there.
I have huge respect for all the riders who rode in those conditions and shame it didn’t go quite to plan but you took to the challenge and got on so respect

I'm gonna design a BK weather vein in honour for that run, you can use it for a whip board sensor, so every time its set off it goes 'Yo Lada man'.
The right call for sure, but bitterly disappointing for the riders and us who love watching it. Mad respect for your run down though, you rode that like a champ!

But, nobody’s more bought into the concept of ‘The Crew’ at RBH than you fella! And this race is for The Crew. Getting the whole crew down.
Maybe not without risk - it’s RBH! - but in a calculated way. So that everybody can get a time on the sheet, not in A&E.
And that’s down to you fella through your kindness giving away lines, pumping up everybody’s mental strength and showing the way. You’ve single handedly shown the way down this track with personal tuition to all and sundry. Sending everything first. Bringing Tahnee’s Crew up to speed this week. RBH would be nothing without RB and nothing without RW and nothing without Dan A and his acolytes.
But RBH would also be nothing without you either BK.

I know how frustrating it can be when that happens so i feel for you all. It's tricky with getting the weather to be on your side in that part of the country too, it's so unpredictable so it's not even like it could be moved to a different date!
