    some elevation changes would make it more interesting, maybe some trees and a train station eventually

    • @LukasDeem
      @LukasDeem  Месяц назад

      I agree! I was thinking it could be super cool if you could split the track off somewhere and raise an elevation so that the two tracks are stacked on top of each other 😸

    Nice! I agree with other comments about sound deadening. Perhaps some heavy rubber sheets would be cost effective.

    In yonder olden times, back even before RUclips had high-definition video, I built a similar setup around my living room for O gauge trains. I couldn't bear the thought of any of these getting derailed from way up there ($$$!) so I took advantage of an ancient wall-mounted entertainment center left by the previous owners, and built out an around the walls loop at its height (about the same as the back of a typical couch), using pretty much the same tools you did, except for the 3D printer.
    Of course, building for O gauge meant the trains were _way_ less forgiving of tight curves than Lego trains (I have some really _large_ locomotives and freight cars) and so I wound up jigsawing 36" radius curves out of a 4x8 sheet of 3/4" plywood, and built straight sections made of 1x3's, supported on 1x2's, crossing the room entrance with a lift-out curve equipped with removable legs. While I didn't document my build process, almost all of my (very small) channel's videos are of the trains I operate on said loop, giving views of pretty much all the engineering (heh) I performed.

  • @StevenERice
    @StevenERice Месяц назад +1

    Very cool as always. Only adjustment I would make is a way to switch track from down below. And some sort of sensor that would stop the train if the track isn't switched....so it doesn't launch off again like it did during your test. Very cool either way. Agree with your decision to leave the wood grain showing. You could always stain it if you wanted a more finished look.

    • @LukasDeem
      @LukasDeem  Месяц назад

      Hey thanks! Yeah I agree I will ideally make it so that I can control both the train and track switch from my phone. Lego has an app for the trains but you still have to power them up first 🤣

    How does Bambu Lab afford to give away so many printers to even small RUclipsrs like you? There's no way that enough people will buy a new printer through your link to make it worth for them.

    • @LukasDeem

      Hey sometimes I wonder the same thing. I think it's about brand saturation just getting their name out there and they have a budget specifically for that. Plus they could be gambling that one of my videos would blow up, which I would also like to happen but you know here we are 🤣🤣

    YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAS! What a great build! Question out of curiosity, what is causing the audio anomalies at @1:44 and @1:53?
    I am super looking forward to your future project where you either make the train IOT enabled to allow folks to control it's motion or lighting (or livestream the view from camera), or the inevitable upgrade when you knock tunnels thru your walls and really have a project on your hands!! :D
