I'm glad TopGear do more on their youtube channel now, nothing annoyed me more than a few years ago when there was almost 6 months between seasons and all these special cars like the holy trinity would already be driven and reviewed by youtubers, took a while to move with the times.
to be completely fair their production level is much higher than youtubers who churn out content every week, or ever regular automotive TV shows. Top Gear is unmatched in cinematics. That being said, they should do "Chris Harris Drives" more often, an ultra high production means it irons out some rough moments & little details in the content that makes Chris Harris nerdiness special.
Maybe because this is a behind the scenes video and the full review will be on television. But yeah on television they will be show a max 15 a 20 min of it
Helps when the interviewer is less nervous than the interviewee. Or when he has an angle from the beginning. Or at least an opinion at the end. About anything, please.

I think at some point they realized why nobody had done it before and the compromises they had to make to make the engine work on the roads. But at that point it was already too late, build slots have been sold, hype had been built, and they just had to make the car.

TG needs weeks to add FX and fully commercialize it- Chris has to do the scripted voiceovers... Shmee delivers a real time "pinch me moment" that makes you feel like you're taking part in it. I thought he was trying to reach out and hug me at the end of his video today.

The GT3 & M3 review was a really great piece. Sadly given how busy the show is I kinda doubt Chris has that much time left for extra work.

So glad TGUK finally got a solid 3 member crew to fill the absolutely ENORMOUS shoes the OG 3 left in the show. I was honestly starting to lose hope, then, Evans left, Harris stepped in with Rory and LeBlanc, and it was alright, but still not there. But NOW, with Harris, and the Northerners, Flintoff and McGuiness, they DEFINITELY have that 'chemistry' the show needed to keep that vibe we've all grown up with a learned to love the first 23 Seasons. And although it's still not what it used to be, I feel like this model you have going right now, the hosts, the segment quality, the online presence, in 'inner-detailing', how everything is shot, put together, and distributed, is probably THEE BEST POSSIBLE outcome after 'The Steak Incident', and the best possible 'revision' of the shows dynamics. Both on TV, and Internet. I absolutely love where the show has gone, and where it's goin, since Season 27, and CANNOT WAIT to see THIS episode in-particular in October! Miss the old guys of course. At 31 years old, them, and this show alone, had the BIGGEST effect on me when I was younger, and is THEE main reason I feel the way I do about these machines today as an adult, so its important to not just me, but im sure thousands of others as well, so thank you for finding a crew who can fill those shoes left better than anyone else I can imagine, and saving a program that to alot of us is basically the Bible when it comes to Auto Enthusiasts.. I wish it shared more of the current MB design language. The MB CLR is so valuable, because it shared the design language of every Mercedes of that era... But this thing is soooo "bespoke" that it doesn't clearly identify as a Mercedes-Benz.
And I wish that manufactures would start forgetting their design language more often. It's just getting too boring to see the same stuff over and over again. Unfortunately, Ferrari seems to he the only one doing this on a regular basis. Porsche's lineup, for example, could've been so much more if they ignored their supposed design language when creating the Panamera and Cayenne. They've improved the design over time, but these cars could've been stunners right from start.
I have a feeling that if it was another brand (cough Ferrari cough) you would be giving this car a much harder time. Because objectively apart from that F1 engine (which at the end of a day is turbo'd 6 cyl) this is a pretty mediocre car - not the most exotic engine, not the most efficient , not the lightest, not most driver focused, not even the most powerful. Those poor billionares must be really struggling to find something to brag about to their friends on yachts. As it stands my kidney goes to GMA's T50.
I think what this was - was a very challenging engineering exercise - which as mentioned by the Chris, won't be repeated again. Its a monumental task, and they seem to be very close to the finish line. Regardless of the performance, it will still be fast, it will still tick off many boxes, without necessarily being the quickest/most efficient etc... To be fair, most super car collectors aren't buying these cars because they want to challenge a ring record, they buy it "because". If it happens to be quick/efficient/driver focused etc.. etc... that is a bonus.

F1 cars reminds me of the premium road bikes made for tour de France (pinarrello road bikes) the engineering behind these beauties is immense and it trickles down to cars for example and the same thing happens in the world of road bikes
We'll see which car is faster around the track. The 765LT was a disappointment in regards to its track credentials, lap times are supporting this. The 720S was even quicker at the Hockenheim!!

Well, we never get what we wish for when it comes to cars. Been wishing for ages for BMW to build a sports cars at all, yet they stick to sedans and turn them into sports sedans in their M division, but never build a real sports car. Such a pity.
@@STURM323 Ya, I've thought about that many times too. They have all these M cars, they should show what their M division can really do when they go all out. The M stands for Motorsport after all. I think it would elevate the brand, especially anything with an M badge if they made a rear-engine M super car.
Current F1 engines are terrible. When they first appeared the number one complaint was that they were too quiet. F1 attempted to fix that but what we have now are F1 cars that sound like a wet fart. A small displacement V-6 is nothing to write home about. The AMG One proves that. The bit at the end when the host says this is the last car with a racing engine is just hilarious. McLaren just revealed the Solus GT. A far simpler and elegant car with a Judd V-10. I'd rather have the manual Koenigsegg CC850 or an Aston Martin Valkyrie or a McLaren Solus GT or a Gordon Murray Automotive T.50S. Unfortunately the moron who buys the AMG One will have all of those already so he will have the last laugh.
Nothing to write home about.. I'm sure the engineers all around the world are sending you e-mails to get your opinion on what they can use their time on. Just so they don't waste their time that is. Just because the Solus GT, Valkyrie and so on exists, does not take anything away from this masterpiece. It is a genuine car for the road with a F1-engine. It's done a 6.32 so far during test at Nurburgring. Stop hating just to hate.

Mercedes was so adamant on putting an F1 engine in a road car that it didn’t turn out the way they wanted. They were too far along in the project to turn around. Had the project started 2 years later, they could have used the amg gt bs engine and added electric to it and it would have been better and much cheaper.
There is just so many reasonable super/hyper cars nowdays. If id ever have money id absolutely want that car, as they said no1 is stupid enough to input combustion racecar engine ever after we go over this peak engine development era. And when i did cnc machining myself, i understood the knowledge of how to make something. And so many technologies and ways to do things easy has been already forgot. Like bugatti W16 engine. After workforce is swapped due to different jobs, its not ever possible to make such engine. After losing that workforce , also lost 100 years of engine manufacturing to absolute percision. Copy and paste computer times led us to forget diffiulty of real life manufacturing.

Thats the whole point. Its a road going f1 car. No one else has ever tried it and no one likely ever will again.

watch the Video from carwow. The Mercedes team said the batterys can handle 2 Rounds of the GP Track on the Nürburgring. Then the capacity is nearly by Zero.
One round is 5km so it only stands 10km at full push
And WE all know that the Nürburgring is 20km Long. So not that nice News😮💨

We'll see which car is faster around the track. The 765LT was a disappointment in regards to its track credentials, lap times are supporting this. The 720S was even quicker at the Hockenheim!!

Pretty much in any dual clutch transmission vehicle you press and hold both shift paddles to engage active neutral (while driving).

I kind of wish they just set out to make the best sports car they possibly could, instead of trying to figure out how to put a F1 engine in a road car with this complicated hybrid system
Well, we never get what we wish for when it comes to cars. Been wishing for ages for BMW to build a sports cars at all, yet they stick to sedans and turn them into sports sedans in their M division, but never build a real sports car. Such a pity.
@@STURM323 Ya, I've thought about that many times too. They have all these M cars, they should show what their M division can really do when they go all out. The M stands for Motorsport after all. I think it would elevate the brand, especially anything with an M badge if they made a rear-engine M super car.

Current F1 engines are terrible. When they first appeared the number one complaint was that they were too quiet. F1 attempted to fix that but what we have now are F1 cars that sound like a wet fart. A small displacement V-6 is nothing to write home about. The AMG One proves that.
The bit at the end when the host says this is the last car with a racing engine is just hilarious. McLaren just revealed the Solus GT. A far simpler and elegant car with a Judd V-10.
I'd rather have the manual Koenigsegg CC850 or an Aston Martin Valkyrie or a McLaren Solus GT or a Gordon Murray Automotive T.50S. Unfortunately the moron who buys the AMG One will have all of those already so he will have the last laugh.
Nothing to write home about.. I'm sure the engineers all around the world are sending you e-mails to get your opinion on what they can use their time on. Just so they don't waste their time that is.
Just because the Solus GT, Valkyrie and so on exists, does not take anything away from this masterpiece. It is a genuine car for the road with a F1-engine.
It's done a 6.32 so far during test at Nurburgring. Stop hating just to hate.

Mercedes was so adamant on putting an F1 engine in a road car that it didn’t turn out the way they wanted. They were too far along in the project to turn around. Had the project started 2 years later, they could have used the amg gt bs engine and added electric to it and it would have been better and much cheaper.
There is just so many reasonable super/hyper cars nowdays. If id ever have money id absolutely want that car, as they said no1 is stupid enough to input combustion racecar engine ever after we go over this peak engine development era. And when i did cnc machining myself, i understood the knowledge of how to make something. And so many technologies and ways to do things easy has been already forgot. Like bugatti W16 engine. After workforce is swapped due to different jobs, its not ever possible to make such engine. After losing that workforce , also lost 100 years of engine manufacturing to absolute percision. Copy and paste computer times led us to forget diffiulty of real life manufacturing.
