Being a creator with tight budget myself, I’m really looking forward to see how a 2015 MBP will perform compared to my 2011 Unibody MBP!
Really appreciate you testing literally all the benchmarks out there, and most importantly, showing how an actual edit with 4K footage, LUTs and different settings work.
This video made me realize, I don’t need to save up like crazy for an overkill 16” MBP right now, and one last thing, this video has a really high production quality! I’m surprised you only have less than 10K, hope there’ll be tons more subscribers soon, and of course, I’m a part of it now ✌🏻😁

Given fan noise and thermals during video the benchmarks, I can assure you really need to reapply a good thermal (i.e. grizzly extreme) paste on CPU and GPU. Thermals and fan noise is usually not an aging issue but rather bad cooling. My MBP's mid 2015 (2.8ghz with dual graphics)fans hit ~2600-2800 RPM at around 80 C.

I've got the model above yours with the MX370. Just put in a sabent rocket 2TB via supergeek adapter for grand total of £270. Installed bootcamp in 500GB. That flexibility and ports will now last me years as I use it for VMware etc. Ports are just too useful and the price of a like for like 2020 is insane. Great video.

I bought a Macbook Pro 15,4" today because it has many advantages to the newer Macbooks - like the HDMI and USB ports, the fact that my graphic design programs only run on OS older than Catalina, and yes, also the price. After watching your video, I'm even more glad I bought this one!

Love the ports and I actually prefer that it has a bit more weight. The only grievance I have is the keyboard, I actually find it a bit small coming from a HP but everyone else seems to love it. Hey man I have the same MacBook Pro model and it never goes above 80c under intense load. I would open it up and clean it out as there maybe some dust clogging the fans limiting airflow throughout your machine. I would also look into a possibly replacing the old thermal paste on the CPU as those temps are most likely hurting performance as the CPU is definitely thermal throttling at 105C!!! especially on longer heavy CPU workloads.

Quick question for you if you have a moment...
How important/ different is the processor, ram, and gb for a 2015?
I.e., i have found a model of the 2.7ghz, i7, 8gb RAM, 512gb SSD for $850. I'm wondering if it makes sense to hold out for findingsomething that is the "souped" up version of the 2015 -- 31ghz, 16gb ram, 1 tb ssd?
Do you think the differnce will be tremendously noticeable? (I'm an entrepreneur that works with many tabs / programs open, will be remote next year, will do some video editing, but more watching and providing commentary / filming and recording podcasts (which I'll get a separate camera and speaker for)

Its not bad, good for light editing (1080p) and watching Netflix but nothing more... I bought it used 3 years ago... kinda regret not buying the higher spec at leas 16gb of ram.. my work flow is now kinda struggling...

i have the 2.9 g and 8g ram early 2015.. bought it in 2016 ... don't get me wrong i love it but it gets pretty hot now even after replacing the thermal paste... in addition i think it would really slow down and get hotter if i upgrade to big sur, currently running catalina although downloading and running macfan has helped... if i could pay to get a M1 chip installed i would do it...

hey man, the video cool.) I went and bought MacBook pro 13 2020 last week and I can say in new one camera is poor vs mbp13 2015, construction and new design light, thin but very fragile (first look), potential problems with flex (flexgate) these nuances is very important to understand before buying.
    and price mbp 13 2015 (good condition) - 500$
    mbp 13 2020 - 1800$ hmmm..think 2 times before buying

This is still the best MacBook Pro ever made, if Apple just released a refreshed version of this MacBook Pro with thunderbolt 3 ports in place of the Thunderbolt 2 ports, thinner bezels and an updated Retina display, then it would be perfect.

I still have my 2015 and love it! Okay problem I’m having lately is files being pushed into my iCloud when I’m not ready for that but that’s due to my poor file management ready to save my old files on an external Harddrive and sweep the memory and just keep it to hold the software I use.

Nice video. I have the same laptop since 2016, it still works well except for the “Staingate issue”. I developed stains on the screen over time and then got the screen replaced for free once in 2018. But now, I have to be extremely careful and I never close the lid when I’m at home. Did you face the stain issue ever ?

I was the proud owner of a mid-2014 16 inch Macbook Pro and it started shutting itself down frequently. So I bought a 2020 15" Macbook Pro thinking it was time to "upgrade". Wow, what a disappointment. First, the Apple logo doesn't even light up!!!! I had no idea that was by design. So I took my old one to the Apple Genius Bar and they found it had a bad heat sensor so I was looking at almost $600 to replace logic board. I decided to buy an upgraded 2015 Macbook pro 15 inch Quad i7 with 2TB storage and I'm so excited to get it! So disappointed in Apple for not keeping the backlit Apple logo; I know that sounds petty but that's my truth. And I never thought I'd say that about an Apple product.

I have the same 15 inch 2015 Macbook pro as you showed in your video. But my biggest problem with this Macbook pro is over heating & battery backup. In light usage like watching RUclips on chrome with Xcode open in the background I get roughly around 3 hours of battery life..And every time when I watch a youtube video on chrome it temperature goes up to 90/95 degree. It just completed 365 battery cycles. And according to Apple's website they suggest to change battey after completing1000 cycles. But mine just completed 365 cycles. So I think there is no problem with battery health.
So my question is are you facing the same problem?

    • @Techkhamun
      @Techkhamun  4 года назад +1

I am not facing the same issues but batteries aren't made equally so you might find one fails before others, looks like you got the short straw my friend! Also macbooks always run hotter than normal laptops it's an apple thing lol

Hi :) This video might help me with my situation right now ;) Do you recommend buying Apple MacBook Pro i5, 16gb RAM with 512 GB SSD in 2020? My colleague wants to sell this model right now. I have never use MacBook before so maybe it is a good option to start my journey without spending a lot of money on the new one (MacBook Pro 2020). Do we know how long Apple will give updates (macOS) for this model?

I think you will get 3 more years of updates potentially! And yes I would recommend it if you want to start your journey with! This is a fantastic laptop and if you want to push it, just be aware its not a powerhouse like todays laptops but if you are patient then itll be good
