The Last Upgradable Macbook Pro

  • Apple is notorious for equipping their macbook pros with small drives. 128GB in 2020 is just not enough for what I do, and with the newer macbooks having zero upgradability, I'd like to stay close to my 2015 Macbook Pro if I can.
That's why in this video I equip it with a monster 1TB of storage, and run you through how to do it. This project was super fun and it's so nice to have some breathing room on your storage drive.
Link to the adapter I used(affiliate!):
    amzn.to/2wPSUsy
Link to SSD: The one I used was overkill since I didn’t get to see half of the speeds, but this one is from the same brand, is cheaper, and should allow you to max out your speeds!
    amzn.to/2AvgX1j
The skin on my macbook is from Dbrand, it's the Camo Black variant!

The speed is slower on the SSD after being in your computer because of the motherboard, not the drive. The older motherboards can only give so much bandwidth, whereas you need a m.2 slot or PCIE x4 slot to run it at full bandwidth. If you were to take that and put it into a PC with a moderately higher their motherboard it would likely achieve at least similar to advertised speeds.

I just upgraded the drive and memory in my macbook pro 2019. our company makes adapters for nvme and it is a good idea if you know what you are doing and have the equipment to change the drive controller on the logic board as well as some of the capacitors and resistors to jump the voltage for the controller from 3.45v to 3.75v. this will give you the top speed of your drive. you can upgrade the 3d nand on new macs but you need to know component level repair.

I have the exact same macbook pro model for the past three years. 128gb is abysmal, and several times i had to uninstall programs and reinstall when i need them just for the sake of storage space. I have been eyeing on the 2020 macbook pro, but after this video that I see that I can continue to use this machine for much longer just by upgrading the SSD. Gonna fall in love with this macbook again

Trust me save the money and get a late 2016 Core i7 2.5ghz, 2.7ghz or 2.9ghz and up processor and minimal 16gb of RAM for 400-550 and it does everything the m1 does no joke...maybe u get a slight couple seconds finish rendering a 1hr video on premiere but an m1 should SMOKE a 2016 or 2017 mbp and I've compared them with someone I know with an m1 and I would never pay that much for a few spec bumps. I found my late 2016 Core i7 2.7ghz 16gb for 180 by winning an auction luckily had zero issues as well

I just did the same thing. I upgraded my 2014 MacBook Pro to a 2 TB hard drive. I am a DJ so it feels good to have all my music in one place instead of having to carry around a external hard drive. I also noticed that taking external hard drive‘s and moving too much to a lot of gigs actually adds to the wear and tear of the hard drive.

I used a late 2009 macbook (the white plastic one) and I had 8GB of ram and the original graphics card and cpu white running yosemite. Liked and subscribed. I like people who really love the tech they buy. Now a days people buy new phones every 8-10 months, and new laptops ever 1.5 years. But whatever i buy i just buy the top model then i use it for 6-8 years then i buy the top model again. And by the time 5 years pass i get really attached to the product, if people would use their tech for 4-5 years, e-waste would reduce by a huge margin.
