Hard to believe Jay was 29 going on 30 when he released this? Oh how time flies.
I shed tears unfortunately my mom is no longer here and I miss her so much. I did anything for her as well. RIP MOMMY
Rip chain 😢
"As a man, I apologize for my dad"! Real shit that part always hits when you were raised by a single mom struggling
Omm
Me two bro... I apologize to my mum....my mum is the closest to God that I can have
I'm a single Mum, sitting next to my sleeping lil man, awake at 1am-knowing damn well I have to be at work in the morning- cause I'm strugglin and do no matter how hard I work. I look at lil man and I want to give him what he actually deserves, and it fucks with me hard. And you guys got me over here crying. If my son can feel like that some day, I will be so proud. I stay feeling guilty bc he is the world, and he deserves so much I can't give him. You guys that love and respect youe moms like that, and have an appreciation for how fucking hard this shit is-you the real men. And there aren't enough of you!
Heavenly Father I pray you keep the person that's reading this alive, safe, healthy and financially blessed. Amen💚
Blessings come to those that unselfishly pray for others. Thank you
Thank you for prayer my friend AMEN✊🙏

My son father sent me this song, we’re not together and haven’t been for 5 years. We’re both big jay z fans…song definitely hits different…thank you Chris ❤
And this is why he's in the Song Writers Hall of Fame, and Rock And Roll Hall of Fame....congrats Hov,well deserved..
My brother asked to play this song at his going-away party when he left for the Air Force back in 2000! I was only 3 years old at the party, so I don't remember it whatsoever, but somehow I remember this song.
One of the best used samples of all time. Who else is sampling a 1968 recording of Oliver? Nobody, cause it would suck. But Jay made it badass.
I am! I'm 51 and a Grandma and I love 💕 this!
jay z didnt produce the beat you can thank sam sneed and p skam
Ludacris did it too
Same sentiments towards him sampling Annie in Hard Knock Life. Who'd of thought sampling old British musicals would go so hard
I was wondering what song was used as a sampled for this track
This song brought alot of memories of my late mum...am all grown now,she been gone for over 17 years now but she raised a king and his standing strong...#memories
Yes Jay-Z in a durag ... man these were the days. Wanted to be grown so bad. Now I am and I wishin I was little. lmao

The greatest most inspirational rapper but people want to see you destroyed out of sheer jealousy
@CrixusLightthey are blind to justice if they refuse society
The kids will never know about the melodies, hooks, and poetry that made hip hop in the 90's to 2000's.
I see it for myself. It's all tattoos, strippers, and big asses. What appeals to the eye, doesn't always appeal to the mind. Most of these rappers today are forgotten after a couple years. Tell a story. Be a story teller and you will be remembered forever.
We always had good rappers around, but ppl don’t support em, they aren’t mainstream, check ODDISEE - You grew up, you’ll understand what I’m saying. The most part of the kids are into the mainstream, it’s the sad part... Years ago ppl had to find for the good music, now the social media and internet shows the music and ppl don’t even try in the most part of the time to try a non mainstream guy.
😊
A long time I liked this song for 4 years like Jay z is a hard worker

Since the last time I heard this song, I've lost a cousin and mother. Hits different. If you love them, tell them while you have time.
Love to all reading.
This song kept me going even at my lowest point. Came up from the lowest yet still here... Thank you for this gem. Inspiration comes from everywhere... Still going.
My mother passed away when I was 24. I was renting a hole in the wall and constantly went from cheque to cheque to cheque and even lived in the back of my car. Many years later Im now a major junior hockey scout (one of the first African Canadian souts) that gets to travel (pre covid) and make a good living watching the NHL stars of tomorrow. I'm very grateful to have 5 healthy kids, our families wealth and as of next year ill be an expected grandpa(became one on February 10th 2021). I miss my mother dearly, and what bugs me the most is she never got to see me flourish with wealth or children. Humble and grateful for what I have but damn I'd just about do anything in the world to have her back. She's still in my mind and heart like if I saw her yesterday. Enjoy your mother's, and respect them. Everyone. Moms are amazing and all these years later I'd still give my arm and leg to have her back in my life again. 🙏🙏
Powerful man, thanks for sharing. God bless!
God bless you & may your mother Rest In Peace.
She's proud of the man you have become.
