You arrive, burn the equipment, move to another site and they will return with new equipment to continue. This approach isn't going to be sustainable. I'd rather advice, the government 1. Establishes some form of protection for the sites to stop all the activities. 2. Provide an avenue for small scale miners to learn the proper way of mining. 3. Form larger conglomerates to add together their capitals for purchasing better equipment (possibly getting some sort of support from the government for that). 4. Monitor to ensure the right things is being done. With this approach, you still get your gold, our water and forests are saved, more jobs are created for the people and our economy will benefit.
Some of you people smh! Our priority right now is to stop these illegal miners. Where was your environmental way when these miners were destroying the land?
Vwry foolish move. Why would you foolishly burn these machines in the water with fuel, which would further destroy the water 😅😅😅 Nyansa de3 it has eluded Ghanaians leadership
We are very weak nation, the magnitude of destruction on our land and waters are unimaginable. The actions being taken now by the government is too late. The is no way these activities would have taken place in Europe.
All this action will not bring any results. Unfortunately, only innocent poor Ghanaians who will suffer whiles the so-called big fishes will still continue working and be protected by this same military make my words. This was the same thing they did in the past which emboldened high-ranking both government and party officials to get involved more in galamsay.
A poor country destroying machines used in illegal activities. Why don’t you seize and put them to better uses? Do you know the machines are expensive, and of course the country has not enough machinery for development. Even, to talk about producing these machines locally.

Cosmetic. The damage has already been caused. It will take 30 years to restore the environment
Edit: sadly, its 50 years 😢
So it's better for them to continue than stop it because damage has been caused?
