    Right click on the desired layer or folder and set 'make active child' to make it active on the current frame is a crucial part.

Today we must be continuously improving. Everything is always conquered with practice. It happens to me all the time, I want to know everything in a second and it's impossible haha. but day by day, practicing and repeating, we can do it. Mainly in animation and drawing. Do not stop. Just continue working and repeat an animation or a drawing more than once, just do it again, it will get better and better each time. And if you are new to the world of animation, welcome!!!. there is a lot to learn, and everything is awesome!!. thanks for your support and for being there!!!

    This is a very helpful video. I do have some suggestions: Since this has "beginners" in the title I would not show something as advanced as the Simpsons clip. It would have been more useful to show a very simple animation (like the ball from the first part) and start from scratch. I am an experienced animator, but I'm new to Moho. I would prefer the general animation lessons to be separate from the lessons that teach Moho.

    • @JayBlackCult
      @JayBlackCult  11 месяцев назад +2

      Segal!!! Hi! Nice to meet you.
      First thanks for your contribution. I really appreciate your opinion. Thanks for real. and yeah, you're so right. Bart's video actually was created basically to show the first exercise and then just to give a general idea about Moho.
      I agree with you, there is a lot to explain in a single video, how to draw, the principles of animation, and other details. The title / thumbnail could be tricky because of the youtube algorithm. But I'll see if I can improve it. Thanks for the suggestion.
      I understand what you're saying, that's exactly why I started to separate the topics in other videos. Soon I will upload the second part of how to place bones in characters drawn in Photoshop, and then I´ll talk about how to make them talk using bones as controls.
      By doing this I would cover the basics of How to draw, Blink, How to create expressions, Walk, How to use bones in drawings created inside Moho/ Photoshop, and how to use controls.
      After that more complex things will come, such as lighting, backgrounds, how to create fluid animations, Unity, Unreal etc. As you mentioned I´ll separate everything to follow an order.
      once again I appreciate your comment and any suggestion is always welcome. The main thing is that we all help each other. 😃😃😃

  • @re-artwork
    @re-artwork 2 года назад +1

    Thank you, you are so easy to understand! I didn’t even realize Moho did “Frame by Frame” animation! I only have 13.5 debut, and was so pissed by limited it was, and went to Tahoma2D instead. After seeing this, maybe I’ll tinker around with it again, and MAYBE even upgrade. Feel free to walk us through a project! I’d like to see how you assembled Bart. (If you’ve already done this, I’m going to find it in a few minutes lol.)

    • @JayBlackCult
      @JayBlackCult  2 года назад +1

      Hi there Rengland!! how´s everything?. 😃 Oh ,so you have the famous 13.5. ok, first don´t get mad. You have an awesome software in your hands.
      You have better bones system, and the possibility to control the wind. That´s pretty awesome!!. and yeah, you can do frame by frame animations in moho.
      I still think they have to improve the brushes a little bit to work with fbf, but you can do very good stuff.
      Oh, btw, there are 4 movies made in Moho. Here I leave the names.
      - The Secret of Kells
      - Song of the Sea
      - The Breadwinner
      - Wolfwalkers. ( I think this one was made with Moho 13.5).
      Moho is getting bigger and bigger, this is just the beginning.
      It stared with 1 movie, now we have 4, and people are buying it cos it´s easy to use. I think it´s like blender. It has a bit of each world, and it's easy. So, if you wanna work with Fbf, I still think that toon boom is better. But always depends on the animation of course.
      I never worked with the Tahoma, is it good?.
      Oh I made a video drawing stitch, that´s how I made bart. Same steps.
      ( but without the bones hehe). Is awesome to find another animator. if you have any question please let me know. 😃😃😃😃. And thanks a lot for your comment!!! 😃😃

    • @re-artwork
      @re-artwork 2 года назад

      @@JayBlackCult lol, I have the unfamous "debut" 13.5. It's the simplified package, where the largest you can export is 900x900, and doesn't allow you to import layered PSDs. :) Good times with that one! If I ever buy the pro version, its cuz of the video tutorials you put together. I spent a chunk of time watching them, thank you for making them.
      Tahoma2D is a fork of Opentoonz. Basically the same program, just added features. If my M1 macbook pro didn't choke on its vectors, I wouldn't even contemplate leaving! Otherwise it's a great program, especially for folks like me that do this just for fun.

      @Jay Black Cult And now we got My Father's Dragon
      I was at first skeptical if all the characters were animated in Moho, but when the official channel posted a little sneak peek of what went on inside, I was pleasantly surprised.
      Ever since my mom got me Anime Studio (its former name) Debut 10, I've wanted to do animation as a hobby ever since. And look how far we've come. Pin bones, frame-by-frame, bone dynamics that not only respond to wind but can be enabled and disabled _within the animation itself_ via keyframing, and my GOD the multitude of scripts to make life easier! Adobe Animate is overrated, in my opinion. ToonBoom I think is pretty cool (and I'm kinda wishing for some features that it has that Moho doesn't), but for now I'll stick to Moho 'til the day they die.
      Also at least Moho doesn’t copyright colors. Hint-hint, Adobe × Pantone.

    Great result bro!!! Do u think the new features of Moho like Vitruvian Bones would be near the traditional animation result and faster that Moho Animators as Victor Paredes are talking about?

    • @JayBlackCult
      @JayBlackCult  2 года назад +1

      Ohh thanks a lot Reinante!! what´s up bro. Sorry for the delay, sometimes YT doesn´t say when I have new comments. Ok, to answer your question, Yes, totally.
      The point of the Vitruvian Bones is to achieve smoother animations that could not be achieved with past versions of Moho.
      Well, actually you could, but it used to take a lot of work.
      Moho is evolving for two types of users. Gaming and movies.
      Normally for games, Spine is a great option, and for movies you have, toon boom, opentoon and others. (Even tho, there are 3 or 4 awesome movies made in moho).
      But Moho is AWESOME with the bone system, and the vitruvian bones are for sure a great update. So moho is like one step away from being like spine, and a few steps away from being like toon boom. Surely time will position Moho as Blender in 3D. It will have a range of awesome options and very easy to use.
      In my opinion, it still needs to grow in terms of brushes ( and frame by frame animation ), other programs are still superior for that.
      So yes, the answer is definitely yeah.
      Victor has very cool info about it. Personally, I'm still waiting for other improvements before switching to the new version. Maybe I´ll wait for the next one. But if you are starting you can start with the pro 12 for sure. Let me know if you have more questions.
      Take care bro!!! 😃😃😃😃

    Thanks for this! Question: How would you go about animating two characters in one scene? Like they are interacting and they overlap at times. Say like they're dancing where sometimes one is in back, one is in front. Can you create multiple layers for the characters so they can overlap?
    Maybe putting them in different folders? It seems it wont let me create folders though for some reason...

    • @JayBlackCult
      @JayBlackCult  2 месяца назад

      Hiii square!!! how are ya!. oh thats a good one, ok, yes, you can create multiple layers, both on different folders, and here I ask, why you can´t create folders?. another option is to use the depth sort, but with multiple layers, hum. I think it could be complicated. but maybe if you have. 2 folders you could change the order during the animation. or just do a FBF. its the best way to go when you have to create a 360º turn or interaction. You can also use bones of course, but you will have to use the depth sort to hide some parts.

    • @SquareMahogany
      @SquareMahogany 2 месяца назад

      @@JayBlackCult Hey! So I think I figured it out: I think I just have to start on frame 0 which makes perfect sense.

      OMG hahahahah you are so funny bro haha. Of course he is your enemy lmao. happy new year bro. yeah 1k, thanks so much to you and all the people. for real, For me it is incredible to know that I can help others. I´m not doing this for subscribers or likes. I just do it , first because I like it, and then because I like to help and make some cool friends. I know I don´t know you, but for me it is important to know that there is a connection, to know that there are others who also like the same thing as me, or that we can simply share ideas. In some way or another we are connected, and as long as we have a human connection with respect, it will always be a good thing. I celebrate that. and I always appreciate your support and your words. Plus, you are the beer guy so, yeah, you are awesome!!.

    How do you adjust the frame rate of audio? I've never even heard of that

    • @JayBlackCult
      @JayBlackCult  2 года назад +1

      Hi there Dragonmaya, nice to meet you!!!
      Wow, about your question. (it's a good one)
      And it's not that easy to explain. So, Let's see:
      An audio file has a sample rate, measured in kilohertz.
      The standard audio for video is recorded at 48 kHz.
      In my case Bart´s audio was recorded at 59.53 khz. (original file).
      So, you as an animator, you have to think that when you are doing a frame by frame animation or a lip sync, you're going to have to record the audio first and then put it in Moho. So, you have to pay attention to the sample rate of your audio, since that will affect the fps of your animation.
      Simple example:
      There are basically 3 types.
      24fps 30fps 60fps (check minute 1:08 )
      If you record your audio like the simpsons in 59.53 khz your animation should be 59.53 fps.
      But that´s great. A good animation will always have more than 30 Fps.
      If you have an audio at 59.53khz, and your animation at 24 Fps,
      the audio will probably disappear.
      If you use 80 fps, you will have the audio out of place.
      These are exaggerated examples.
      There are programs that try to adapt the speed of the audio, but believe me, it´s a living hell lol. You can see in the specs of any audio file, look where It says the “Khz”.
      Can you have an audio in 44khz, and work with a lower Fps?
      If the difference is not much, yes.
      That's why before starting to lip sync, check the audio format.
      Sorry for the long answer, I know it's a bit complicated.
      But those are details that can cause big problems.
      Trying to adjust an audio or an animation it´s really very complicated.
      Let me know if you have more questions.
      Have a great Friday!!!

      @@JayBlackCult I appreciate your thorough answer. I usually render my audio at 48,000 sample rate. So the timing should be perfect since that's 24 doubled, correct?

      @@ACABSTUDIOS Hi there Dragon, how are ya!! Morning. aww thanks to you for being always there 😃 and yeah, If you have your audio in 48.000 you can work your animation in 24fbs. Just remember that if you change your timing to 25, you will have to change also the audio. But yeah, 48.000 and 24 sounds perfect!!. If you post your animation on youtube later feel free to send me the link, I´d love to see it 😃

      Hi there Amartyaghosh, how are you. thanks for your comment, and yeah, I made another video showing the head rotation using fbf. let me know if this helps. ruclips.net/video/on_zW56bf4U/видео.html about the hand, what kind of rotation are you trying to do? only the hand? or the hand with the rest of the body?.

      @@68606Naruto Hi Naruto 😊If your character is walking with a side view, you can solve this by animating the bones, perhaps by applying a specific action to the bone. If your character is walking straight ahead in that yeah you will have to animate it. What kind of view are you using?.

    Hi Jay,
    Can I do similar animations
    ruclips.net/video/LcnqBOxP9Og/видео.html&ab_channel=ZZILCO
    Using Moho with frame by frame method?
    And Do you think this would take a lot of work time?
    Also I think the video i mentioned is using both frame by frame and bones, Am I right?

    • @JayBlackCult
      @JayBlackCult  Год назад +2

      Hi there!!! how are you, and nice to meet you!!. sorry for the delay. Yes, you can do something like that in Moho, and you don´t need frame by frame for that. only bones. Actually with bones, you can do something more fluid than that. with eyes moving, fingers, and all that. so yes, you can do it. About the time, if you have all the storyboard planned, you can make something like that on a week or less. check out my video about how to draw and rig, to see how you can prepare a simple character, but with a nice bone structure. ruclips.net/video/um_xZQy3L9k/видео.html Please let me know if you have any doubts.

      What do you mean, you even have the bouncing ball exercise and tone of info about how to work fbf. I made animations doing exactly as tha bart animation, maybe with less frames because I didn't need it much, but still. Have a great day bro.
